Summary
*on hiatus*In many universes, Midoriya Izuku is only seen as the second coming of All Might. In this Universe, Izuku has grown tired of all the Villan attacks and has something of a wake-up call after the Stain incident in Hosu. Deciding they have been focusing on all the wrong things and taking Gran's advice to heart. They have stopped focusing on being like All Might and have instead focused on how to be a good hero, and help their friends. This unfortunately has the side effect of both scaring and impressing his teachers, gaining his classmate's admiration, and attracting unwanted attention from the League of Villians. Also it makes them a bit of a sassy little shit.
Note
Yo, I have another story with three chapters that are already written, and working on a fourth. I'm going to post the first two now and the second two after I clean this up. Also, this will be my first time writing a genderfluid character so hopefully, I don't mess anything up. After I finish writing/editing the other two chapters for this I'm going to continue working on my other stories. hopefully, soon I can finish some of my current ones. Also, I do not own My hero academia.

Quirk Testing

When Izuku came to, he found himself in the infirmary with his Sensei dozing. He tried to think about what had happened before. He remembered reaching for One For All and whatever that weird spark was…nothing.

He sat up and groaned in pain. What the hell did he do to his arms? He looked down and saw they were fine, just really sore.

“So you’re awake now? How are you feeling?” Izuku’s groan of pain had woken Aizawa

“Sore, a little dysphoric, what happened.”

“I had one of the girls grab your binder and your bag if you need to change. Though I would suggest waiting on the binder since it is night time, but I understand if you need to change your bracelet/clothes.” Aizawa gestured to the bag.

Izuku changed out of his clothes and placed the binder on. He knew he’d only get a few hours in, but if he didn’t wear it now, he wouldn’t feel comfortable. He took off his pink bracelet and put the blue one on.

“As to what happened, I was hoping you could tell me,” Aizawa said through the bathroom door.

“I’m not sure all I remember is following Ragdoll’s instructions. I was holding my quirks power in my hand, and I saw something orange reached for it than nothing.” Izuku opened the door feeling more like himself than when he woke up.

“I was afraid you’d say that.” Aizawa rubbed his hand down his face as he sighed.

“After you lost consciousness—what I’m guessing happened—you had thick black tendrils sprout from your arm, which attacked Ragdoll. She dodged, and while normally that should have worked, when they made contact with anything, it exploded much like Bakugous quirk. Alerted to the noise, I rushed over and erased your quirk. The rest I’m sure you can figure out.” He opened the door to lead Izuku towards the kitchen.

“Is Ragdoll ok?” He asked, walking behind his Sensei.

“Why don’t you ask her yourself?” He said.

“Eraserhead! You brought the little kitten, I guess she’s ok though wh—” Ragdoll was bouncing towards the two of them in relief.

“Um, could you use he/him please,” Izuku asked, feeling uncomfortable.

Ragdoll paused for a second, looked horrified, then fell to the ground.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I can’t believe I’ve been misgendering you this entire time. Eraserhead, why didn’t you tell any of us.” She moved to hit him.

“If you’d read his file, then you would know he was gender fluid and has bracelets with different colors to help others know what he identifies as.” Aizawa blocked her arm.

“Shit, you’re right sorry,” Ragdoll said, bowing low.

“N—no, it’s ok, really. I’m just glad you weren’t doing it on purpose. Besides, I’m more worried about how you’re doing. Aizawa—Sensei told me about what happened after I blacked out.” Izuku waved his hands around frantically, trying to make Ragdoll feel better.

“Don’t worry about me, kitten. I’m fine, I may have gotten a scratch or two, but I’ve had worse.” She shot up, smiling at him to calm his worries away.

“Now, I think it’s time you had something to eat while we discuss what we think your quirk is.” She moved towards the table where a bowl of katsudon was waiting for him.

“How did you know I liked Katsudon?” Izuku asked, drooling a bit.

“You eat it almost every day for lunch, Problem Child.” Aizawa drawled, causing Izuku to pout.

“I looked up in the quirk registry and read that your quirk was basically a stockpile quirk. However, I think that—no, I’m pretty sure that’s wrong.” She stated as Izuku began to eat his katsudon.

“If it’s not a stockpile quirk, then what is it?” Izuku knew what his quirk was, but maybe Ragdoll had some idea on how it mutated.

“When your quirk activated the way it did, it felt similar to two people.” Ragdoll held up two fingers.

“All Might’s quirk for one.” She put a finger down

“A lot of my classmates have compared my quirk to his in the past,” Izuku nodded his head.

“Right, and after some digging, I found out you were the kid who ran in and saved Bakugou from the sludge villain,” Ragdoll replied.

“What were you thinking when you ran in like that?” Aizawa scowled at his problem child. Even before U.A., this kid got into trouble.

“I wasn’t—not really. I just saw his eyes and knew what was happening, so my legs just moved on their own.” He looked away from his teacher.

“What do you mean knew what was happening.” Aizawa snapped.

“I—Kaachan wasn’t the first victim of the sludge villain. He attacked me first. Thankfully All Might had saved me.” Izuku set his chopsticks down, no longer feeling hunger at the memories from that day.

“We will be talking about this later, but for now, I think you should hear who the other person Ragdoll was talking about is.” Aizawa sighed.

“Oh right, who was the second person.”

“Neito Monoma,” Ragdoll answered

“Wha—what! But doesn’t he have a copy quirk?” Izuku screeched.

“Yep, but whereas his feels like a temporary copy, yours feels more like a permanent.” Ragdoll answers

“So you’re saying I have a quirk that copies other quirks, but why has it never shown up before now, and how do I know how many quirks I’ve copied. What’s needed to copy it?” Izuku had more questions than he could ever dream. Was Aizawa-Sensei right? Did the doctor somehow give him a quirk suppressant?

“We have a hypothesis as to how you copy quirks, but we would need to test it in a different room than here. It is getting late, but if you’re up for looking into it now, then I’ll allow for you to sleep in a few hours tomorrow.” Aizawa answered.

“I’m not really tired, so I think I’d like to test it out now,” Izuku answered.

“Follow us to the training room then,” Aizawa said.

After arriving in the training room, Aizawa stood off to the side while Ragdoll stood outside the room. Ragdoll would be giving him instructions, and Aizawa would be there to erase his quirk if it acted up.

“I want you to close your eyes, and instead of reaching for the stockpile quirk, I want you to try and reach the orange spark you saw before, ok,” Ragdoll spoke into the intercom.

Izuku reached for the orange spark, he quickly found it…among other sparks, all of them varying colors.

“Izuku, don’t focus on anything else but that orange spark,” Ragdoll said, sensing Izuku’s quirk starting to fluctuate.

Izuku took a breath and held the orange spark; it slowly changed into a—grenade? Why would it? Could it be possible? Izuku opened his eyes and looked at his hands. Still holding onto the orange grenade, he channeled the power to his hands…

And fell onto his butt when familiar orange sparks popped out of them as the room was filled with the Carmel scent of nitroglycerin.

“Th—that’s Kaachan’s quirk! Wha—how did I.” Izuku was baffled. He had a quirk. He had a Quirk! He…had a quirk.

“All those years, all those years Of being looked down on, of being tormented, being told I was useless, that I’d never be a hero. Because I didn’t have a quirk. All of it because of that damn doctor.” Izuku seethed tears, staining his face. His hands were sparking with his inner rage. He didn’t know what to do or how to feel. His entire life felt like a lie, like one big joke.

“Midoriya!” Aizawa yelled, trying to gain his student’s attention as he canceled their quirk.

“Sorry Sensei, I just needed a moment.” Izuku unclenched his palms, wiping them on his pants, and used his arms to wipe away his tears. He would need to ask Bakugou how to clean the nitroglycerin out of his pants.

“Midoriya, what did you mean by being tormented?” Aizawa asked.

“Does it matter? It’s in the past now.” Izuku looked to the side bitterly.

“Wha—of course it matters. You’re a child. You shouldn’t have had to go through that. Did your teachers ever step in?” Aizawa grabbed his student by the shoulders, keeping him from looking away.

“Why would they? I was just a quirkless useless Deku.” Izuku said bitterly.

“You and Bakugou aren’t rivals, are you?” Aizawa asked, eyes widening as everything started clicking together.

“Don’t expel him.” Izuku gave it as an answer.

“Pro—”

“No! His entire life, he was told he would be a great hero. His entire life, he was told he was the best. The teachers never told him no. I know Kaachan can make a good hero. I know because he’s gotten better. He even helped Kirishima study for the finals. I never thought he would do something like that.”

“Fine, I won’t expel him,” Aizawa sighed, making Izuku perk up.

“However, he will be on probation and attend anger management. Also, you have to attend therapy sessions with hound dog when we get back.” Aizawa ordered more than asked.

“Yeah, that’s fair,” Izuku sighed.

“Good, now do you want to continue, or do you want to go to bed?” Aizawa questioned.

“I’d like to keep going. Now that we know I can apparently copy quirks, I think we need to figure out how.”

“Alright then, Ragdoll, you can continue.” Aizawa stepped back and nodded towards the window.

“Ok, then Kitten, can you tell me what happened when you used Bakugous quirk?” Ragdoll asked.

“When I grabbed the spark, it changed into a grenade, then I channeled it through my body, though it only activated in my hands.” Izuku placed a finger on his face while looking up as he remembered what had happened.

“Did you see any other sparks?”

“Yeah actually, but none of them had a form.”

“Do you think you can return to where the sparks are and see about giving them a form?” Ragdoll asked

Izuku nodded before closing his eyes and returning to the subspace with all the sparks. He wanted to reach out and hold them but thought better on it. If this was a representation of his quirk, within his mind, then couldn’t he?

All of the sparks began to take form; he saw a red bottle of eyedrops (Aizawa),  A purple whip (Midnight), A frozen fire half red half white (Todoroki), a pink mochi (Uraraka), A red feather (He thinks it’s Hawks, but he’s not sure), A pale stick (Fingers?), A blood-red Katana (Stain), and a green cat(Ragdoll?).

“I—all the sparks changed and took form. I think they took the form of either the person’s quirk or something related to the person.” Izuku breathed as he opened his eyes.

“Alright, I have a theory on how your quirk might have worked, but I’d like to test it first. Do you happen to ‘see’ a quirk of someone who you’ve only met once or even not at all.”

“Ye—yeah, there’s a red feather and a red Katana. I think the feather might be Hawks, and I’m pretty sure the katana is Stain.” Izuku answered.

“When did you meet hawks?” Ragdoll tilted her head.

“O—oh, it was a few years ago. I didn’t actually meet him, but my mom and I were shopping at a new mall. There was a villain attack, and the mall began to collapse when mom and I were flown out by a red feather. I think it was when he was still new at the time.” Izuku tilted his head, trying to remember everything.

“I’d rather you not try a mutation quirk, but I also don’t know if Stains quirk would keep you from getting sick on blood or not. Eraserhead, your call.”

“I don’t like either prospect, but it may be a good idea to see if he can use mutation quirks now in a controlled environment rather than on the field in an adrenalin rush.” Aizawa sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Midoriya…if you’re going to try the mutation quirk, you’ll have to change unless you want to ruin your binder,” Aizawa stated, gesturing to the bathroom attached to the training hall.

A few minutes later, Midoriya came out of the restroom, feeling slightly dysphoric but ready to test out his quirk. Taking in a deep breath and squashing the dysphoria down as best as possible, he reached for the feather. Izuku heard the tear of his shirt and quickly placed a hand on his chest to keep it on.

The wings were kind of awkward, and the more he tried to move them, the more they seemed to go in the opposite direction he wanted. Finally, he was able to bring one forwards long enough to make out their emerald color.

Plucking a feather from his wing, he attempted to move the feather with his mind. The feather hovered briefly in the air before collapsing back. Izuku tried multiple times but was beginning to tire. Releasing his hold on the quirk, he felt the wings disappear. He kept his other hand on his shirt to keep it from falling off.

After changing again, he waited for more instructions.

“Well, at least now we know you can use mutation quirks. Though if I had to guess, it would seem like you have the same amount of control as when a person first gets their quirk.” Ragdoll admitted.

“Do you think you have my quirk by chance?”

“I think so? One of the quirks I found is a green cat.” He scratched at the back of his head.

“Try that one.”

Izuku did, and suddenly he could feel everyone in the house but no further. He relayed this to Ragdoll, who nodded.

“I think I know the extent of your quirk now.” She walked into the room towards the teacher and student.

“I believe your quirk makes a copy when other people’s quirks directly interact with you in some way. This could be by ‘absorbing’ the excess energy from the others quirk. However, it seems as though the copy is of the quirk's basest form. I would guess with practice, you can combine quirks due to what happened earlier today.” Ragdoll explained.

“In other words, more training?” He prodded.

“Essentially, yes. I will be there to help you, though, and it may help to try and get into contact with the others if possible.” Ragdoll explained.

“This also means I’m going to have to rework your training schedule again.” Aizawa sighed.

“So—sorry, Sensei,” Izuku squeaked.

“Don’t be, Am I correct in my assumption you have a copy of my quirk?”

Izukus eye’s flashed red for a few seconds before he shut them in pain and rubbed at them.

“Don’t rub them. It only makes it worse” Aizawa pulled Izuku’s hands away from his face.

“I didn’t think it would dry my eyes out that quickly with how easily I’m able to cry,” Izuku muttered, holding back a yawn. He was tired from using his quirk so much.

“Heh, welcome to the club, kid. Now go to bed; I’m training you in how to use my quirk tomorrow.”

“K,” He replied, walking out of the room.

“There’s just one thing I don’t understand,” Ragdoll said after he had left.

“What?” Aizawa asked tiredly.

“How did a kid whose mom has a minor telekinesis quirk and father with a fire breathing quirk get a quirk like that?”

“Mutation probably, though it’s also likely it could have come from a grandparent. It may be wise to contact his mother tomorrow to see if we can get an accurate family history.” Aizawa answered, walking out the door.

“That might be a little difficult considering his mother was an orphan, and his father is AWOL,” Ragdoll replied

“You already called her?”

“What else was I supposed to do while I waited for him to wake up?”

Aizawa sighed. “No sense in worrying about it now. Let’s go to sleep. The problem children are going to have to be up in five hours, which means we have to be up in four.”

“Ooohhh, don’t remind me,” Ragdoll whined, causing Aizawa to smirk.

This training camp was turning up a ton of surprises about his kid—student Midoriya is his student, and he is not getting attached. Nope not at all…ok, maybe just a bit
