Chapter 26
Camie thanked the stall assistant who had helped her with her purchase. She headed to where the food stores were, planning to meet up with Toga. She was expecting to wait for Toga for a while but was pleasantly surprised when she entered the area with tables.
Sitting at one of the picnic tables was the brown haired girl that Toga had disguised as when they went out bowling.
She must have brought a different vial of blood with her.
“That took faster than expected,” Camie stated, smiling as she sat down opposite the girl, “I thought I’d have to wait for you.”
She placed the packet with the fish accessories down on the table as she carried on, “What do you want to get to eat?”
“Uh...I’m sorry but do I know you?” a soft voice asked.
Camie looked up and was met by a look of confusion. She quickly glanced down at the girl’s wrist and realisation hit her when she couldn’t see the bracelet Toga wore.
“I’m so sorry!” Camie flushed from embarrassment and quickly stood up, “I mistook you for someone else.”
“Oh it’s not a problem,” the girl smiled kindly; “You can stay here and wait for them if you want. I’m waiting for my friends too.”
“Thanks,” Camie took a seat again and the two sat in an uncomfortable silence for a few minutes.
“I’m Ochaco Uraraka and you are?” the girl attempted to make conversation.
“Camie Utsushimi.”
“Utsushimi... that name sounds familiar.”
“I’m back, sorry for taking so long,” Toga finally arrived after going to the bathroom. She was disguised as Bakugo again.
“That’s right, you’re one of the students who trained with Bakugo and Todoroki,” the girl suddenly brightened up.
Camie nodded, she suddenly had a very uneasy feeling start to build up in her stomach.
“Midoriya and the others will be here shortly; do you two want to hang out with us?”
“Uh... no thanks,” Toga answered before pulling Camie away by the arm.
“I think we should try to stay clear of them,” Toga suggested once they were a good distance away.
“I was thinking the same thi-” Camie started to reply but was cut off by a loud sigh of protest from her stomach.
Toga laughed softly, “Let’s go get you some food, I think you’ve waited long enough.”
They went to stand in line at one of the stalls and were helped fairly quickly. They were told that their food would take a few minutes to prepare.
“Here, take the fish and I’ll go collect the food before we go find somewhere to sit.” Toga handed the fish to Camie and walked off.
Panic started to flare up within Camie.
I forgot the bowl on the picnic table.
Toga came back and saw the frightened expression on Camie’s face, “What’s wrong?”
“I left the bowl on the picnic table.”
“That’s okay; we can just go back and get it. We won’t stay too long.”
Camie nodded and they both started towards the picnic table.
“There you two are, I thought you’d come back for your things,” the brown haired girl stated upon seeing them. Camie kept her head down, avoiding the eyes of the rest of the people sitting at the table.
“Thank you,” Toga said and took the packet off the table.
“Woah Bakugo, I didn’t know you could be this polite?” a boy’s voice cut in.
Toga shrugged in response.
“That throw was so manly Bakugo,” another voice cut in through the crowd.
“Kacchan?” one of the people at the table spoke up in shock.
“What do ya want you damn nerd!” a familiar voice responded.
The blood rushed out of Camie’s face and her head shot up quickly. Standing across from them was a boy with red hair and the real Bakugo.
For a split second nobody moved as the two Bakugo’s stared each other down.
Then chaos erupted.
The real Bakugo raised his hand and launched forward, leaping onto the table to get closer to Camie and Toga.
Camie grabbed Toga’s hand and opened her mouth; releasing a cloud of smoke that engulfed the two of them. They vanished from sight and started to head in the opposite direction, weaving between the crowds of people until they got to Toga’s bike. As Camie released her quirk, Toga appeared as herself and the two climbed onto the bike and took off.
Toga slowed down and parked near the park they normally met up at. The two took a while to calm down before they started to talk.
“They saw you.” Toga stated.
“I know,” Camie placed her face into her hands. “I have no clue what I’m going to do.”
“There’s no way they’ll keep quiet about what they saw. I’m pretty sure they realized who I was too.”
Camie hummed in agreement, too caught up in her thoughts to respond.
“You could stay with the league for a bit,” Toga suggested.
“What?” Camie whipped her head around to stare at Toga.
“Well... I mean, just until things die down. The pro heroes are going to be looking for you for questioning.”
“Things aren’t ever going to die down,” Camie sighed, “and the league is never going to let me stay with them. I’m a hero trainee; it’s too big of a risk.”
“Then... I don’t know, I’m out of ideas!” Toga exclaimed.
“We could run away together?” Camie suggested quietly.
“I...”
“I don’t mean out of town but under the radar, so you can still be with the league.”
“That could work, we can leave now,” Toga suddenly brightened up.
Camie shook her head, “I still have to go home and pack and I would like to see my family before I leave.”
Toga nodded in understanding, “We can leave tomorrow morning then.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Camie smiled sadly.
Toga nodded and immediately reached across and pulled Camie into a hug. “Stay safe.”
“You too.” Camie whispered softly, pulling Toga closer. “You too.”
