Rooftop (Dabihawks)

The city was always so beautiful at night. The lights, the passing cars, the wind, the utter calmness it was comforting and beautiful. Normally Hawks would fly above the city at night and admire everything, but tonight he decided to sit on top of a tall building and look down on the city. It was soothing, cool wind whipped around him caressing his skin ruffling his messy hair and crimson wings bringing him pure bliss. For once he wasn’t speeding around he was still and calm.

The hero gripped the edge of the building swinging his legs back and forth lightly hitting the bricks of the building. He took in a deep breath and sighed slightly. It was quiet, a good quiet.

The scrapping of shoes against concrete pulled Hawks from his calm state causing him to jump to his feet grabbing one of his larger sharper feathers to use as self defense. The person causing the noises stepped back and put his hands up holding two beers. “Woah there bird brain, now need to get so violent it’s just me,” the person chuckled, walking closer to the winged hero.

Hawks sighed in relief putting his feather away looking at the scarred man in front of him. “Why’d you sneak up on me Dabi,” he asked in a harsh tone trying to calm back down.

Dabi shrugs and puts his arms back down to his side. “You looked peaceful and I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“And sneaking up on me was a way to keep me calm?” Hawks asked, raising a bushy eyebrow at the taller man.

“You got me there bird brain. Drink?” he said, holding out one of the beers to the other man.

Hawks shrugged and took the bottle as Dabi walked around him and sat on the edge of the building where the hero had just been sitting. He was also admiring the view, it wasn’t like Dabi got a birds eye view of the city, especially not on such a calm night. The blonde admired Dabi, the way the city lights and moon reflected back into his bright turquoise eyes, he looked beautiful. “I’m surprised you aren’t up there flying around like usual,” Dabi said as he took a sip of his cold beverage.

The hero sighed and opened his bottle as he sat down next to him. “Yeah...I just wanted to be still I guess,” he explained, bringing his gaze back over the city.

They both sat there in comfortable silence, admiring the city and enjoying eachothers company. Their relationship with each other was very complicated, they were on opposing sides. One of them a cold hearted villain and the other a symbol of hope, a hero. They weren’t supposed to be associated with each other, not the way they were at least. They weren’t supposed to enjoy each other, yet they did. There shouldn’t be trust between the two of them, yet there was.

The wind whipped past them sending a chill down Hawks spine, he hadn’t been wearing his entire hero costume, only his tight sleeveless bodysuit and his tan sweatpants. Dabi noticed this and sighed, taking his own jacket off and throwing it toward the other man. “Here. You didn’t bring your own jacket dumbass,” he huffed a bit.

Hawks tilted his head a bit, some subtle warmth coming to his cheeks. “You know I have my wings to warm me up right,” he chuckled, still putting the jacket over his arms backwards due to the fact that the jacket wouldn’t fit over his giant wings.

Dabi’s face heated up a bit as he huffed in annoyance. “Yeah well I guess I forgot about that.”
Hawks smirked at him and nudged him with his elbow. “I think the zombie man just wanted to see his crush wrapped up in his jacket,” he said teasing the older man.

Dabi glared at him. “Say something like that again and I’ll make you fried chicken, watch yourself,” he grumbled.

The hero let out a hardy laugh gripping the black jacket closer to himself enjoying the warmth that it had absorbed most likely due to the other’s fire quirk. Hawks was painfully aware of how bad it was to have any sort of relationship with the man sitting next to him, whether they were friends or more. He always seemed to be so drawn to him, maybe it was the constant warmth, maybe it was because of the familiar vibes he got from him or maybe it was because Hawks understood what Dabi stood for.

The winged hero decided to tease Dabi a bit, wrapping one of his wings around Dabi bringing him slightly closer. The villain whipped his head around and stared at Hawks a bit confused. “The hell you think you’re doing birdie,” he said, his voice going lower.

Hawks chuckled letting a feather trail down Dabi’s neck in a flirtatious way. The fire user growled a bit giving Hawks the satisfaction of knowing he was successfully pissing the villain off. Hawks then decided to get more playful and shoved the villain a bit trying to get him riled up, he was bored and needed a good laugh. Dabi shoved back causing Hawks to shove him even harder, being cautious as to not push the man off the building. Dabi however was not as worried pushing Hawks a little to hard, or so he thought due to the fact that Hawks went free falling off the building.

Dabi jumped to his feet, with pure fear in his eyes and veins. “Keigo!" he shouted looking over the side of the building. He started feeling slightly guilty and panicked until he heard a very familiar chuckle. Hawks flew his way back to the top of the building landing right next to a very adrenaline filled Dabi.

Dabi looked at him and growled again pushing him away and taking a few steps away. “Awe were you scared that something bad was going to happen to me,” Hawks snickered.

“You’re lucky that Shigaraki would murder me if I killed you right here,” he huffed turning round, his back to the winged man.

Hawks chuckled again under his breath sending a feather over to Dabi gently caressing his face, Dabi swatted at it trying to get it away as he pouted. The hero slowly walked over to him, dropping Dabi’s jacket to the ground and wrapping his arms around his waist, burying his face into his back, enjoying the warmth that radiated from the scared man. “I didn’t mean to scare you Dabs, just wanted to mess with you a bit,” Hawks explained in a whisper kissing in between Dabi’s shoulder blades.

Dabi stopped pouting and turned around to face Hawks, wrapping his arms around his waist causing Hawks to bring his arms up to the taller man's shoulders. They made eye contact, seeming to study each other's irises, getting lost for just a moment. Dabi sighed, kissing the hero’s forehead lightly. “You worry me Keigo,” he said, tightening his grip on Hawks a bit, trying to make him feel more secure. Hawks tilted his head in confusion signaling that Dabi needed to explain.

“Why weren’t you flying tonight? I know you said it was because you wanted to be still, but that didn’t sound right….not coming from you. What’s wrong?” he asked looking down at the hero.

Hawks looked to the side fidgeting with the collar of Dabi’s T-shirt. “Wings have always been used as a way to depict freedom, yet my wings have been the thing that’s kept me captive. They’re the reason I’m controlled in this world. I wanna help people, but working for the hero commission has made my entire life a living hell. I sat up here because I wanted to be still and see if I could feel free. My wings are a big part of me and I don’t want them to be something that keeps me trapped,” Hawks said in a rushed way.

Dabi seemed to understand, he didn’t know the full story about the hero commision, but he did know that they had exploited Hawks’ heroism and quirk. He was devastated that he felt locked up.

Dabi caressed the scarlet feathers causing Hawks to shiver and push himself closer into the villain. The scared man pulled the wing man into his chest embarrassing him and still petting the feathers. “You’ll be free one day, I promise,” he whispered.
