Face the Facts

Ochako dreaded leaving her room. Each time she mustered up the courage to go out of it she saw a glimpse of one of her classmates and immediately turned around to go back. Her stomach and throat hated her for it though. She was hungry, and dehydrated from crying so it was only a matter of time.

No one came to check on her. Probably out of respect, but the dark part of her mind was convinced it was because they didn't notice her gone. At around 2 she lost all her power to fight her thirst and hunger and put on a brave face, heading down to the kitchen.

When she went in the elevator she was met with Todoroki. She awkwardly stood next to him hoping he wouldn't talk to her. Uncharacteristically quiet.

"Are you okay?" He stared at her and she flinched under his gaze, quickly putting on a smile. Her hands fidgeted together.

"Yea, of course! You?" She met his eyes, but couldn't understand his expression, it was as unchanging as it always was.

He ignored her question. "Your eyes are red." He observed. She looked at the top display of the floor numbers, and tried willing it to go faster, sadly it didn't work and instead it stopped at the third floor. Kaminari came in and immediately gave her a concerned glance as he went to the left side, near Todoroki.

"Hey Uraraka are you good? I'm sorry about Bakugou." She knew Kaminari had good intentions, but she couldn't stop her frown at the mention of yesterday.

"What happened?"

"Bakugou got mad at her for using her quirk on him, and kinda went off, sucks that it happened though." Kaminari shrugged lightly as he talked with Todoroki.

That's right. To everyone else it's not that important.

"Did he hurt you?" His voice had a little aggression in it. Not what she had expected. She quickly pushed a nervous smile back on her face.

"No of course not!" She said as she tried to reassure him. "It's not that big a deal." She added as she rubbed her arm atop her clothes, where her soulmark was. Lying was never really her strong suit, but Todoroki didn't seem like one to pry on why it was important, and he didn't. The elevator opened and she walked briskly to the kitchen only to come face to face with her fears.

"B-bakugou!" He was staring at her dead on, as if waiting for her. "G-good afternoon!" Her cheeks heated. She felt awkward and cornered, she tried to ignore it as she started getting cereal and a glass of water. Not great food, but literally anything would suffice at this point.

Bakugou's gaze never left her as she went about getting her breakfast/lunch (brunch?) food. "Round face." She halted, milk in hand.

"..yes?" She met his eyes, not able to tell what he was thinking.

"What the fuck happened yesterday?" His eyes sharpened on her. For some reason, him not screaming it was even more terrifying to her. She thought he looked like a predator, waiting to go in for the kill. She was the prey, scared, defenseless. Ochako knew better than to put herself beneath him though, that was where he wanted her. She straightened up her posture and fixed her eyes on him.

"I tripped." She said firmly, with a semi-cruel smile. It wasn't a lie, but it definitely wasn't what he wanted to hear. He growled at her, psychopath.

Before Bakugou could yell back at her, Midoriya came towards the kitchen noticing the standoff that was happening. "Uraraka? Is everything all right?"

She smiled wider, not stopping the staring contest that started with Bakugou. "Of course why wouldn't it be?"

"Kacchan-"

"Shut the fuck up you damn nerd!" He broke the gaze and tension to yell at the poor boy while letting out a few pops from his palms. "SCRAM"

Midoriya locked eyes with Ochako before going back towards the tables and the heavy tension was back just as soon as it had left. Ochako sighed, pouring the milk and putting it away.

She ate her cereal, her smile faltering. She was done with being scared anyways. She was tired and hungry and done with all this shit.

"I know." He said with a deafening whisper.

"Know what?"

"I'm your soulmate aren't I?"
