The Old Therebefore
Summary
JOSEPHINE MONROE was not like all the other girls that Wednesday had met, and not because she didn't enjoy typically girly things or always wanted attention; but because she didn't speak. Josephine never spoke a word, and that naturally made Wednesday curious. As the two girls embark on a rather dangerous journey, they grow close. What if they grow closer than mutual friends?

19. Adventure Time

episode six , quid pro woe

A note slip onto Josephine's desk in her own dorm, not that she spends a lot her time in there anyways. Josephine picked it up and read its contents, and smiled. 'I'm going on an adventure, if you want to come. Meet me at the back entrance of the school, at 7:30 pm sharp. Yours, Wednesday.' Josephine packed her bag with medical supplies, a flashlight, and her camera.

Josephine tied her hair into a French twist (a lot like the day she met Wednesday) and headed out the door, her bag over her shoulder as she made her way down. She saw Enid, Wednesday and along with a beat up old red car. Enid got into the front seat, Wednesday and Josephine got into the back. The driver, Tyler jumped at the sigh of the three of them.

"Wait, he's our UBER diver?" Enid spoke with disgust, causing Josephine to let out a silent laugh.

"UBER driver, I thought Wednesday and I were going on a date?" Tyler acted confused and Josephine scoffed.

"I thought this was a girls night out!" Enid yipped with surprise.

"I said meet up, I said nothing about a date. Besides, I have a significant other." Wednesday pointed out to him as Tyler rolled his eyes. Josephine signed to her. "This is a 'girls night out', I only asked him to drive us."

"He's under the impression that everyone wants him." Josephine sassed as Wednesday slung her arm around her soulmate's shoulder. There was an awkward silence before Tyler spoke again (much to Josephine's dismay).

"What's up with the weird matching hoddie scarf things?" Tyler questioned as Josephine leaned back with a sigh. She spelt out the letters 'S-N-O-O-D' to correct him, because if he was going to insult them, he should at least call them by their proper name.

"Don't ask, just drive." Wednesday demanded, and Tyler obliged. They drove off into the distance ace in complete silence. Josephine was sure that Enid was secretly freaking out, and Wednesday was loooking like she was about to have an anreyeum (and she looked stunning if Josephine was as lucky to say so).

"You seriously want to go in there?" Enid asked as Josephine shut the car doors and stood behind Wednesday and Tyler, letting her lovely growl friend do what she wished, this is what she wanted for her birthday after all. "This place is creep AF."

"I know." Wednesday almost sounded happy, as Josephine gave out a silent chuckle. Wednesday didn't move for a moment before going and in clocking the gate.

"This is not what I signed up for." Tyler pointed out as Josephine rolled her eyes. Enid said something along the lines of 'ditto' but Josephine wasn't sure.

"You can leave. No one wants you here." Josephine glared at him and she stuck close to Enid, leaving Wednesday to have her space to do what she wanted. "Enid this is kinda what you signed up for, a girls night with Wednesday? I don't know what you expected."

"I guess you're right." Enid reluctantly admitted, she had finally realized that maybe Josephine wasn't so bad; she was still weird but then again, who wasn't? Enid stayed close to Josephine, letting Wednesday do her thing. The two had become somewhat friends, and Enid knows sign since one of her brother's vocal cords don't work too good after the full moon.

"I didn't want to celebrate my birthday by going to dinner of a surprise party." Wednesday turned around and looked at the two girls having a heated conversation over sign about the best nail polish brand. Both girls stopped and looked at Wednesday who was looking at them like a teacher who wanted her class to stop talking. "I want to do this."

"You should have just said so, you didn't need to trick us." Tyler gave a faux sad smile that he had used to Josephine a thousand times before.

"The only persons he tricked was you, Tyler. Enid should have realized that this was Wednesday, she only asked for you to dive. You don't have to stay!" It was clear to Enid that Josephine didn't like Tyler and was extremely keen on him leaving.

"If you want to go, you can. I'm going to check out the garage." Enid pulled on Josephine's sweater as Wednesday walked away. Making Josephine sigh and grab Enid's hand walking after Wednesday. The two still signing about the nail polish.

The house was creepy, only and haunted. Just up Wednesday's alley. The garage door was locked, making Wednesday pull on it (which Josephine thought was worried since she could have just picked the lock).

"Let me try." But Enid rushed forward and hit the lock making it fall the floor before Tyler could try anything.

"Werewolf thing." Enid shrugged and Josephine held onto Wednesday's with a content smile that Wednesday almost reciprocated. They walked inside and Wednesdays turned on an orange flickering light that made Josephine feel weird about the whole place.

Inside was the blue caddalck that ran over mister mayor last week. "That's the car that hit the mayor." Enid pointed out as Wednesday lifted up the cover (which was badly rotting away). "Okay, so this just took a dark turn." Enid held onto Josephine, who looked extremely peeved by the whole situation. "We need to call Tyler's dad right freaking now!"

It was official, Enid was in panic mode. "Like the police even help. They've been ignoring my calls for weeks over—" Josephine cut herself off when she realized that she was in fact, not helping the situation. She instead just rubbed Enid's back in hopes it would calm her down maybe just a little bit.

"Why? So he can take my back to Nevermore and get me expelled? It's not going to happen." Josephine shook her head, she had a horrible feeling about this. Wednesday was in a mood and they were out past curfew on a school night. How would collages see this?
