so. after a long slump of little to no motivation - not only for writing fics but reading them as well - i've decided to attempt something different. i'll be following this fictober prompt list, with sudong as my focus since they're the ones i'm in my feels about most of the time (not to mention all the dongie finally returning feels). i've got a sudong agenda to push so i'm gonna push
things of note
- chapters will not be connected to each other unless otherwise specified
- these will be… unpolished. this is essentially a writing exercise for me, as i try to learn how to just let myself write rather than constantly getting stuck in brainstorming/outlining hell. i'm gonna try to let myself be okay with sections being shorter or not quite as cohesive as i'd like, both in the interest of time as well as my mission of just getting the words out without too much overthinking. in short: little editing, much word vomit lol
- involvement of the other members and side ships will vary prompt to prompt, sudong is the only constant
- on that note, length will likely vary widely as well. anything from long one shot to quick drabble is fair game. it'll all depend both on the prompt and how life treats me for time that day
- i'll post any warnings by chapter, at the beginning of each one. please let me know if there are more you think i should add, i'm always learning
- i'll also keep a table of contents down below, with short little descriptions to hopefully help with navigation if you'd rather not page through every chapter looking for something that interests you (while still in progress, you can also get preview summaries of later entries i've already finished but haven't posted yet)
finally, a big shoutout to a legend. maple's incredible fic was the first i'd read in a while and exactly the push i needed to get inspired again and get this idea. please do consider reading it and sending maple some love if you enjoy it. you won't regret it and they deserve it. Handong agrees to yet another silly adventure with her friends, it’s not like the old house they’d always been warned about is actually haunted anyways.
...Right?
day 2 - "that's the easy part" [witch au] (3525 words)
Bora thought she was just drinking lemonade. Is it really her fault for not knowing that prankster of a cat could write?
day 3 - "you did this?" [domestic fluff, non-idols au] (3453 words)
Handong has an important question to ask, and though it isn’t really her style… for Bora, she’s willing to face any challenge.
day 4 - "that didn't stop you before" [vampire au] (4185 words)
Handong has her entire worldview changed by the last thing she ever expects… a human.

Yet another one of Bora’s (admittedly silly) attempts to gain the attention of her crush goes wrong… until it doesn’t.

Why don’t the knights ever consider that maybe… some princesses don’t want to be rescued?
day 8 - "i'm not doing that again" [vampire au] (1599 words)
Some alcohol brings out a question Handong hadn't really thought about before.

As someone who met her soulmate young, Bora never thought too much about all the extra space in the design of her larger-than-usual soulmark. After all, every couple’s mark was unique, it was likely hers just so happened to look that way.
Until one day, after years of a happy marriage with her soulmate, that space gets filled in.
day 10 - "all i ever wanted" [angst, platonic, based on maple’s among us au] (1486 words)
Bora still remembers what it was like to love the stars. But now all she can feel when she sees them is grief… regret, for the one she left among them.

An impromptu snowball fight becomes the evidence Gahyeon needs to [finally] convince her girlfriend about the campus’ unlikely couple.
day 12 - "watch me" [canonverse] (677 words)
Handong decides how to make the most of her quarantine (and torture - in a good way, she promises - Bora in the process).
day 13 - "i missed this" [poly, non-idols au] (3470 words)
As childhood friends who never really did the whole ‘growing apart’ thing, ‘we’ always meant the same thing to them. Bora, Handong, Yoohyeon. Together through everything life could throw at them. But when one night of emotions finally coming to a head changes that dynamic for the first time in their lives, Handong doesn’t know how to feel about being the one left behind.
day 14 - "you better leave now" [canonverse] (1241 words)
Funny how a few months can seem like such a short time and yet much too long all at once.
day 15 - "not interested, thank you" [non-idols au] (3831 words)
Sudden and drastic change can be scary… but sometimes it’s exactly what’s needed. And how much of a change is it really, when it’s a blast from the past that feels like coming back home?

day 16 - “i never wanted anything else” [angst, hanahaki au, non-idols] (13585 words)
Bora didn’t exactly expect things to go perfectly, or even necessarily well, when she decided to confess after almost two years of no contact. What she never could’ve prepared herself for is just how quickly and completely everything could fall apart.

day 17 - “give me a minute or an hour” [fluff + crack, non-idols au] (3837 words)
Handong’s learned over the years to trust her cat’s instincts when it comes to the people she knows. This time is a bit much for her to go along with… but he’s never let her down yet.
day 18 - “you don’t see it?” [red string of fate au, non-idols]
day 19 - “i can’t do this anymore” [ghost au]
Handong finds it quite unfair that someone who’d been dead as long as Bora had could still radiate so much life.

day 20 - “did i ask?” [domestic fluff, non-idols + kid!catcher au] (1156 words)
“It’s always the same, isn’t it? When she’s being good, she’s our daughter. When she’s a pain in the ass she’s my kid, right?”
Or: Gahyeon very much takes after her mother and Handong will never stop using that to her advantage.
day 21 - “this, this makes it all worth it” [space colony au, outside pov] (2988 words)
On the small and mostly quiet space colony of asteroid DC0113, Siyeon - worried since her girlfriend has been dropping more and more hints of her longing to travel - asks her oldest friend how she and her wife handle the time apart.
day 22 - “and neither should you” [poly, light angst] (4736 words)
Bora does a great job making sure most people don’t know she has them, but even she falls prey to the insecurities that lurk in her mind. Her girlfriends though, will always do whatever they can to reassure her not to give in.
day 23 - “do we have to?” [fluff, non-idols au]
Bora doesn’t like cats. Sure, she’s gotten used to one (Nannan), but she kind of had to if she wanted to live with the love of her life. That doesn’t mean she wants to like any more of them.
Too bad Handong has other ideas.
day 24 - “are you kidding me?” [royalty and dragons au]
[set in the same au as day 7 but is its own standalone fic]
day 25 - “sometimes you can even see”
day 26 - “how about you trust me for once?”
day 27 - “give me that”
day 28 - “do i have to do everything here?”

Meeting her made Bora forget that "perfect" doesn't exist. How could it not when the perfect person was right there in front of her eyes?
But reality always crashes back in eventually.
