The sun was slowly starting to sink down to the horizon—long experience has taught them that twilight was one of the best hours to venture out.

“You all are leaving?” Viney said.

'Yes,' ava answered as she looked to see the pups sniffing at the river's edge. 'There will be fewer mouths for everyone to feed, and more room for you guys.' She looked back to her and said, 'Besides, it's not like we'll be saying goodbye forever. We'll just be heading to another forest to the north. I'm sure that we'll meet up again real soon.'

Luz went over and rubbed her head against the pups.

'Your brothers are going to be as reckless as your father someday,' luz whispered to Yuki. 'Make sure you keep them in line.'

'We'll miss you auntie!' she cooed and luz was tempted to go with them.

“WAIT!

Everyone stops and turns around to see Oswald running towards them.

Dad!?

“Don’t make rash decisions about leaving.” Oswald pants. Belos or his soldiers is most likely to pick you off one by one.”

Owen glares. “Then what do you think we should do?”

“I’ll escort you all to paradise, my clan can help protect you all.”

Everyone was a little nervous but Luz spoke up.

“Everyone I’ve been to paradise, let’s follow my father.”

Hunter in his human form opened his eyes, and rolled over, noticing the witch girl named willow was staring at him.

( yes he has clothes on. A white shirt and blue shorts. Don’t get any ideas. )

He towards the clean white walls of the room, and then for the umpteenth time, wondered. The question came into his mind, a seemingly simple one.

Why am I here...? Or rather... why am I still here?

He lifted his head. His wounds still ached, yet he found that if he tried, he could stand and hold his weight.

Willow stared at him, open-mouthed.
"The hell you doing? You're not well enough to-"

"I am."

Hunter retorted, back to his wolf form balancing delicately on the table.

"Well you might as well sit down. You're not going anywhere with those wounds."

"I'm breaking out of here."

"You're crazy to try. You're still nearly half dead and you expect to go crashing through that window?"

"I can't stay here, I know that you overheard my conversation about Luz and my pack.” Hunter panicked. You know why I can't."

Willow looked anxious for a moment, then spoke,
"Let me go with you ,I have keys to my parents truck."

Hunter nodded. Never thought he had expected this.

“ leader sir, what was my father like in his younger years?” Amity asked, bending down to drink from the river.

"Well… when he wasn’t with Odalia , he was an amazing wolf, and everyone who knew him thought the same."

"Mother Lilith said he was very kind." she added, sitting next to up next to him.

"Yes. He took great care of his friends." Oswald said lifting his head from the river. " And he never lost his cool during a fight. Let's go, we still have a long way to paradise."

"Dad, why did belos attack that the paradise in the first place?" Luz asked, taking the lead.

"That, that’s a long story, but to summarize everything. His older brother caleb fell in love with one of my pack members a wolf named Evelyn and belos got jealous, so he made a deal with a collector to give him power."

"You’ll will definitely beat him, right?" Luz stopped walking.

"Of course. …belos has been running from me for to long"

Grrrowwwlllll...

Oswald and Luz looked back to the source of the growling.

"I'm hungry… Old Man, Luz … shouldn't we eat?" Edric said, slumping to the ground.

"What, ed? How sleazy." Owen shook his head.

Amity glanced at the signs, "Mother Lilith once said that this is where humans hunt, so there isn't very much game here… So, it'd be better if we got a bit further away from humans."

"I'm so hungry, I can't move forward another step!" Edric complained, as his stomach growled again.

Oswald smiled listening to water flowing, "There's a river nearby."

Amity narrowed her eyes as a fish leapt about two feet out of the water and she vaulted through the air to catch it.

"That was great, Amity. You're better than me. Who taught you?"

She looked at the ground, then placed her fish on the pile.

"You really are his kid."

"Father was good catching fish?"

"Oh, yes. He would often help me catch fish to feed all of our friends. Just like you're doing now."

Amity smiled at his words.

"Your mother on the other hand…"

Edric stuck his muzzle in, and then ran through the stream, while trying to catch one. "Ah! Why is this so difficult?"

Oswald , luz and Amity laughed at his attempt to get a fish.

As everyone was gathering fish , Amity saw luz jump high into the air to snatch a mountain bird.. She landed with ease.

"She jumped that high with little effort? What amazing strength in those legs! No wonder she's Oswald’s daughter!" She thought.

Many hours the pack passed a nearby village as sun was setting…

"Hey! Come back with that ham!" a voice yelled, from down the street. Their heads turned to see what was happening.

"Get back here you little thief!"

a female wolf the size of a Golden Retriever with blue eyes raced towards them. She was younger than flapjack, even. In her jaw, she gripped a ham. She evaded the car that turned the corner and headed toward her.

The shop keeper threw his stick and it collided with her hind leg, knocking her off of her feet, and making her flip, landing on her back. The man advanced toward her.

Luz dashed forward to help her, before edric grasped her tail. "No, we don't have anything to do with this!"

"let me go! I have to rescue her!" Luz kicked his muzzle and he released her from his grasp. Luz started barking at the man, while she rose to her paws.

"What?" The man raised his hand with the stick , about to hit luz, when he heard snarling coming from Oswald and everyone.

"I won't forget your faces you stupid mutts!" he dashed away.

"Are you alright? You didn't get hit too hard. You're not bleeding are you?" Luz asked, searching her over.

She snatched her ham and rushed into the forest. "Wait!"

"A simple 'thank you' would've been nice." Edric snorted at her lack of appreciation for them saving her.

Vee stopped running and set the ham down. "Where are you Hettie Cutburn? I got the food."

A grey and white wolf sat on the crooked log in front of her. On her left and right were her 9 adult followers.

Hettie Cutburn bounded down and detected vee was sad. "What's with that face. You got the food, didn't you?"

"A human almost caught me. I think he would've killed me." Vee frowned.

"So what? You escaped didn't you? You'll do it again... tomorrow." Hettie Cutburn commanded her, before devouring the food. "Hey, it's a ham this time!"

"You lot can eat now." She said, satisfied. Her right paws came down and saw that the ham was almost empty with meat. They quickly ate what they could, not wanting to aggravate their leader.

"I don't want to steal any longer..." vee muttered faintly. "I can't... I promised my mother that I wouldn't do it..."

“Last time I checked your mother is dead!” Hettie Cutburn lunged at vee and threw her to the ground by her leg. She cried out in pain as Hettie bit down harder.

"Miss Hettie , stop! She's already been punished enough! Vee , apologize!" One of the follower shouted.

Hettie scowled at him. "Nord, you stay out of this! Brat... I'll kill you for defying my orders!"

"Forgive me, Hettie!" Ver cried in pure agony as she bit down harder. "I'll do whatever you tell me to! Please!"

"Don't apologize, vee! Luz stormed into the clearing. "Don't say sorry for something you don't want to do!"

"Who are you?" Hettie released her grasp on vee.

"My name is luz, daughter of paradise leaders Oswald and eda and I won't allow you to treat kids like this!"

"What? You're just a kid yourself. If you join me, we'll take good care of you." Hettie laughed.

"Liar! I know how you treat kids!" Luz shouted.

Hettie growled in response. "Kill her! You lot kill her now!"

"Stop!" Amity and everyone darted into the opening. "Let vee come with us, and we'll let you go free."

"What? You'll let me go free? Hahaha!" Hettie chuckled, her followers laughing with her.

Luz stayed silent, knowing amity was trying not to start a fight after all everyone was still recovering from their injuries.

"You expect me to believe your lies? Rumor has it paradise was invaded by hunters long ago and everyone was shot dead. And the Paradise was desolated. Plus, this is my domain; you all have no superiority here. Now kill the liar!" Hettie ordered.

The older lupus knocked out one of the followers to the ground. "Lier, I don't like your tone! I'll rip you tongue out!" Oswald bellowed.

"brat. Vee !" Vee’s head shot up at her name. "Who adopted you when your mother died? Me! If you want me forgive you, then kill that kid!"

Vee stared at luz.

"What are you waiting for? Kill her now!" She yelled, when she didn't move.

Vee shaking. "I-I'll can’t do it." she stared at luz.

"Vee, kill that brat now!" Hettie shouted as she watched them.

"Don't listen to her , vee. If you kill me you'll never be free." Luz told her.

After see how outnumbered Hettie was, vee dashed forward… And pierced hettie on the nose. "I've had it with your orders! You don't tell me what to do anymore!"

Hettie glared at her, "vee, you stupid kid!" She threw her at a tree, and Luz grasped her neck. "I won't lose to you, hettie!"

"Fine you fight me Brat, you have a long way to go before you can beat me!" Hettie slammed luz into a boulder.

Luz struggled to stand, giving hettie a glare that promised fatality and lunged at her.

She dodged her assault and clasping her tail, battering her head against the ground. Hettie flung her away and she forced herself to stand.

paw raised to strike. "LITTLE BRAT!" She roared as she brought the paw down on luz.

"Kid!" both Oswald and everyone called from where they were.

Luz!

Stay away amity! I can win this!

SLICE!

Luz yelped as hettie’s claws raked against her face, creating five large, crimson streaks. The young lupus staggered back, wiping the blood from her eyes.

Luz’s head had blood it streaming down from the wound hettie gave her. She let out a savage howl and her eyes transformed to pure gold and her fur became more wild. Luz became a blur, as she vaulted under hettie, severing her back legs with her razor-sharp fangs.

Hettie kicked her away, sending her flying into vee. Luz rose, letting out another snarl, and charged at her again.

Her eyes flew wide open when luz vanished into air.

Luz lifted hettie by her tail, pummeling her head on the ground, like she did to her.

Some of hettie’s followers raced forward, attempting to ambush luz.

She hoisted hettie up by her tail, again maneuvering her to knock the followers away. Then she threw hettie a some followers like bowling pins.

Luz ran toward a follower who jumped in the way and commenced spinning, until she was a golden blade.

"Hah. Hettie laughed. Brat, you missed me."

The follower who got in the way was split in half and Luz’s instincts finally wore off. She looked around and gaped at the body now split in half.

"What happened? Who killed him?" All the wolves , except Oswald and Luz, were shocked.

How could she not know that she just killed someone?

"Luz...you killed him." Vee whispered, still in shock. Luz was shaking, her eyes glazed over.

"You brat! how dare you do that! I'll make you pay deeply for that!" Hettie advanced towards luz, who was still traumatized about her second kill.

"Stop!" a voice halted hettie in her tracks.

“It’s over hettie, accept defeat! Oswald called out.

Owen made a lunge for hettie, who maneuvered out of his way.

"Don't stand there you idiots! Kill them! Kill them all!"

Owen fought the mutts that tried to attack him at once.

Oswald vaulted at hettie, fastening his fangs around her neck.

"Im Oswald a commanding leader of the paradise army sentence you to die." He replied, through the fur.

He's more than just a leader. Hettie used all her body muscle to stand and throw oswald at a boulder.

Oswald twisted in mid-air and ricocheted off the rock, "You dumb lying naive brat!"

Hettie dodged the attack and fled.
"Get out of my way!" She yelled and shoved one of her men to the ground. Two of her followers pursued her.

"Follow hettie! If she escapes we'll have to do this all over again!" Luz shouted, as she sprinted after them.

"She’s right! We have to catch them!" Owen dashed away with Oswald on his left and amity and the gang on his right.

Vee watched them for a second before trailing them.

"Thank you, luz!" Vee panted as she caught up.

"Huh?" Luz asked and vee beamed.

"You gave me my courage back. Thank you!" Vee tackled one of the mutts and Luz tackled the other.

"Hettie! Help us!" cried the follower pinned to the ground by luz.

"Just die!" Hettie replied, accelerating rapidly.

"Take care of them!" Luz sprinted off after.

"Please don't hurt us. Hettie made us do it!" they pleaded for their lives, tails under legs in submission.

"What should we do, Oswald?" Owen asked, gazing at the cowards.

"Get out of my sight! Don’t work for belos anymore, Before I change my mind about killing you all!" Oswald yelled and they sprinted away, their tails still beneath their legs.

There was a fenced in highway. Hettie ran all the way back to the village but luz was still on her tail

Luz had to do this. She had to write her wrongs, and make hattie see what she was doing was wrong. Maybe if she did that it would be a better world.

Hattie had to get away from the leader's daughter. Everyone knew that the paradise army was one not to be messed with. Now the kid is picking a fight with her.
She knew that belos was going to be very mad if she didn't get away.

She soon made it to the fence. Hattie jumped and had to kick her way over. She soon landed, turned, and backed up from the fence.

Luz however didn't slow her run.
“Hattie, get over here and fight us!" Luz yelled.

"Whine all you want, brat. By the time you find the entrance, I'll be long gone. Belos sent a messager to me asking me to join him in the final battle. After all he needs me for my healing skills. See ya!"

Hattie watched as vee tried to jump the fence.

"Hattie , you coward! Get back here and fight like a real wolf.” She shouted in rage.

Hattie just marched away, howling with laughter.

HONK! HONK!

Hattie was paralyzed when she saw the 18 wheeler truck race straight towards her.

"Hattie!!!" Luz leapt over the fence.

"Arashi!" Amity cried.

"Amazing..." everyone else whispered.

When the truck passed, Hattie was on the other side of the highway in a pool of blood.

Where did luz disappear to? Did she get run over by the truck?

They sighed in relief when they noticed luz was small enough to duck under the oncoming truck. She stood up when she felt it was safe enough.

'Brat... why did you try to save me?' Hattie coughed.

HONK! HONK!

"What! Another one!" cried edric, his eyes wide with fear.

Luz had no time to duck from this truck. Hattie lunged forward and wrenched luz out the way by her tail, just before the second truck shot by running her over.

"Kid, are you okay?"

"I think so." Luz gasped, feeling her heart drumming against her chest.

Hattie grunted in pain and opened her eyes slowly. She began to laugh, but it was a weak laugh.
"Heh... who would have figured? That you would risk your life... for me?"

"Hettie..."

"Don't waste your breath, kid….I’m a pawn. Belos was most likely going to kill me anyway when I returned …..But... thank you."
Then, the former boss wolf laid her head against the cold road and died.

"Luz, why did you save her?" Amity asked.

"She was scared and Cause, I don't like to see people die without a reason."

Vee stared at luz with amazement. , "miss..." she whispered. "No one has ever shown me compassion like that. I want to travel with you, .. Maybe I can change into someone meaningful."

Luz beamed, "Yes. You can come with us."

"Hold on! Daughter of the leader!"

Everyone turned, seeing a small bunch of the remaining hettie’s followers bounding towards them, about 15 or so youngsters. Leading them was a young 6 month old she-wolf.

“They’ll all kids.” Viney spoke.

"We’re done listening to belos. Please," the she-wolf barked as they approached. "Let us come with you! Let us see the new legend!"

Luz wagged her tail and held up her head proudly.
"Of course! Everyone can come.”

-The next morning-

Everyone was on the slight hill that led to a path right to the paradise Pass.

Luz was very shook up from the death of Hattie so luz was sitting against a human post sign.

Amity watched from afar. She wanted to approach, but what she would say wouldn't benefit luz.

Vee was a little glad for Hattie’s death. She did feel sorrow and hated death, but how she was mistreated got to her.

"Honestly..." flapjack walked up to vee’s side. "It's not a bad thing Hattie is dead..." vee looked down, trying to think of how to reply.

"Not a bad thing...?" Vee and flapjack both looked up and was stunned to see Luz stating her opinion. "... When someone dies, they die. What if it was you? Or me? Whose lives did it affect in return? Her family won't miss her.”

"Luz..."

Everyone turned and saw Oswald. He smiled at her.

"You mustn't be so hasty. What she did was save your life... And that is a good thing...". Oswald soothed.

Luz looked down smiling.

Finally reaching near their destination, but it was reaching night once more. It was still a two hour walk to the forest of paradise.

"We should rest here." Oswald said with a rough voice.

Edric finally panted and sat. "Finally!" Edric complained. "Any longer and Luz would have to of carried me."

"I could carry all three of you if wanted! I'm so full of excitement!" Luz exclaimed.

Vee just smiled.

"I believe you." Amity chuckled.

Soon they laid under the shade of a rock.

Luz was staring out towards the pass. She knew her mother was waiting.

Amity saw this. She wanted to help her So she laid by her as Oswald and flapjack was resting on the other side.

"How are you?" Amity asked.

"... I'm okay... I realize the road is going to get rougher... And that..." Luz turns to her. "Scares me..."

They walked a few more feet, however there was a moment where Oswald stopped hard.

"Wait!" Oswald hissed. Everyone got worried.

"What is it dad?!" Luz asked as she looked around.

However luz didn't have to look. A smell crept up to all of them. However it seemed both amity and viney couldn't identify the smell.

But Oswald could. They looked tense.

"... Death... " everyone muttered in disgust.

"Huh?!" Amity looked ahead, and there she saw it. Blood. Luz stepped forward bravely.

Luz stared at the battered and broken bodies. Slayed wolves was splatter across the ground. This made have luz grow a dark look.

",... did belos’s soldiers did this... Didn't it...?" Luz asked the obvious.

Amity didn't like see luz so distance and disturbed so she slowly walked up to her and hugged her once.

"We can do this luz..." Amity soothed. Luz slowly turned sad instead of angry.

"... I... Know... But"

"Quiet! We're not alone..." Oswald suddenly stated. The other everyone perked up in surprise. Soon they looked, and they saw one pair of eyes appear in a bushes.

"Nice eye old man..." Soon a brown wolf lifted out of bushes.

Amity was shocked. How long was they being watched?
"Wait..." Amity could feel luz tighten up as she was looking the other way. "There is another one..."

Everyone even Oswald, looked the other way and sure enough another wolf , this one black and white and tigers tripped.

"... Is there something wrong... balto and rocket..." Oswald suddenly asked.

Balto was taken back and was utterly surprised by him knowing his name.

"... leader... Oswald?!" Balto slowly muttered. He shook his head twice.

"Leader...?" Rocket slowly looked at Oswald who had a warm smile... "Sir?! Wait it is you!"

"Correct..." Oswald agreed. He walked up to the two. "It's been... Way to long..."

Rocket looked almost looked sad.

"... sir... You... We..thought when you left with darius and Eberwolf , you died fighting belos." Balto was speechless.

Luz felt bad now. Her father was a Commanding leader who was coming back to a horrible time in this place.

"... We failed you sir..belos sent out 60 soldiers to kill everyone. Only we remain out of our 4th and 5th group... " rocket stated. He was looking down.

“8 of his soldiers escaped.” Balto explained.

A moment of silence passes, but Oswald stood.

"Pick your heads up." He ordered. "We still have a mission to do and keep everyone safe.

Back at luz and the gang’s old hideout.

"Nothing," growled belos.

"Could they have drowned?" said the collector. "His blood scent ends here, and the current is very strong."

Belos surveying the scene.
“I'm willing to buy the first one, he thought. But the great Oswald wouldn’t really let himself die by drowning?

"Hmph..." he grumbled. "It seems he and the group escaped." A smile slowly graced his features. "But that's fine. I know he's off to tell the others.

"What are your orders, Master?" The collector asked.

“I wish to increase my size to crush my enemies.”

"Woah…" was all that everyone except Luz could say when they saw the huge gap.

"You see this gap? You need to jump it if you want to escape to paradise." said Oswald. He walked up to her and put his paw on amity’s shoulder. "You and your family have every right to turn back." he said.

Amity shook her head, "No…I've come too far to give up now." said Amity.

"It's now or never sis." said Emira.

"Me and Luz will cross over first. You all follow behind me." said Oswald as he and Luz jumped across the gap with ease.

"They makes it look so easy." said edric .

"So…who wants to go first?" said Owen.

"I will!" said flapjack who ran back a bit to gain some distance. "Ready, here I go!" yelled flapjack.

The group watched as flapjack began to gain speed. When he reached the edge, he jumped.

"Well he's either brave or stupid." said viney and honey as they jumped across behind. Honey turned around when she made it to the other side. "Come on!" She yelled.

"Ready everyone?" said Owen and Ava. as yuki and her two siblings prepared to jump. "Ready." said Shiro.

"GO!" yelled yuki. The three ran with as much courage and strength they could muster in their legs.
Their parents was the first to reach the edge. The children landed on the other side with ease. Vee and the 15 former followers, followed right behind them.

"You alright,?" asked Oswald .

"Yes we're fine."

Oswald looked behind Emira and edric to see that amity was all that remained.

Amity looked nervously.

“You’re mother never did, but Your father jumped this very canyon with many others…." Oswald suddenly spoke up.

"My father did?" Amity felt a surge of pride as she looked back at the canyon. Balto and rocket eyed it as well.

Amity however was eyeing luz. She wanted to know what she would do. She wanted to know how far she was willing to go. And she never once stopped repeating in her head…...

Follow my mate…...I'll follow her anywhere…..

"If my father can do it, SO CAN I!" Amity suddenly dashed fast enough to jump, and gracefully on the ground on the other side.

"Woah…" was all that luz could say.

Rocket and balto walked up to amity and her friends, "That was very impressive and you all earned our respects.

Oswald turned around and began walking, "Follow me everyone." he said. “Paradise is just over this hill..”
