I Missed You

"O wake up, we're gonna be late!" Clarke knocked as hard as she can. "Octavia! I'm leaving you! I swear to God!"

Octavia woke up to the most annoying sound she has ever heard. Clarke was screaming and knocking as if the world is about to blow. "Shut up already! I'm awake! Ugh!". She opened her eyes and swiftly grabbed her phone to check the time. '8:17 AM'
"Fuck."

"What the hell are you doing O?! You're driving on your own! I'm going!" Clarke was about to leave her best friend when Octavia opened her door. "You really can't wait for me? Gosh. It takes 15 minutes to get there." Clarke rolled her eyes and went out of their apartment. "Don't forget to lock it O."

"I know, jeez." Octavia sighed.

"Don't jeez me." Clarke began to babble and raised her hand to air quote Octavia.

"Whatever, Clarke."

"Let's go, why are you so fucking slow." Clarke walked fast towards the elevator. They were about to get late for their first and only orientation of their biggest project, their exhibit.

"I'm driving, Griffin. Give me the keys."

Clarke did not hesitate and gave Octavia her keys. "There. Quickly, O! We're so fucking late."

"I know, get in. Come on." Octavia started their black honda civic and accelerated like a horse out of their parking area.

"What time is it?" Octavia was driving fast but the traffic, they're everywhere and they couldn't do anything about it. "Shit. I would've made it if that car went faster!"

"Time check, 8:24." Clarke let out a deep breath and looked at Octavia. "We're not gonna make it, O. Indra will have to replace us." Clarke massaged her forehead to relax even for just a bit. Shit, what am I gonna do?

"Know what Clarke, I just realized." Octavia changed the gear to D and smirked at Clarke. "We're going to make it." And there she went, moving like the wind.

"Octavia that's a fucking violation! Nooooo!"

"Oops, We're here. Who would've thought. Hehehe." Octavia parked perfectly and went out of the car while Clarke gathered herself, fixed her hair and then went out of her car.

"Never again, O."
"Never again, Clarke."

Both of them, now running towards the elevator. "Was it 5th or 7th?!" Clarke paused, about to have a mini heart attack.

"Oh my. Clarke..."
"It's the 7th!"

Clarke quickly pressed the elevator button. "How can you forget?" Octavia furrowed. "I don't know, honestly." Clarke closed her eyes for a bit.

"Almost there, deep breaths girl."

"Ah, just in time."

"Oh thank God. I really thought you were about to replace us, Indra." Indra, the Eligius University Art Department Head. Clarke and Octavia's mentor from the beginning. Their guide and the sole reason why both of them are here, right now. For years, Indra has always been watching for Clarke and Octavia. She knew they possess a talent of a lifetime and she knows perfectly how to harness their talents and skills. Given their success and achievements, Indra has always been able to bring out the best of her girls.

Indra laughed, "Oh come on, and waste such talents? Never." Her wisdom of the day brought the two girls a smile. "Go on, proceed to the Grounder Hall and I'll be giving a few announcements before we start."

Octavia went away while Clarke remained and held Indra's hands. "I never got the chance to properly thank you for all the things you did for us. This exhibition that we're about to exhibit, this is all because of you. Octavia and I are standing here because of you. You showed and gave us everything there is to show and give and I never gave in return." Clarke suddenly reached for her bag, looking for something.

"Oh, Clarke. Really, it's nothing. I just wanted my girls to have what it takes." Indra let out a tear. She was very happy seeing her girls have grown into what she has been molding these past few years.

"This is for you, I know you have been wanting to have this." Clarke gave a small sized box with a green ribbon on top.

"What is this?"
"Open it." Clarke squealed.

Indra grasped. "This is-

"The emerald eagle chain tassel brooch. I know." Clarke let out a wide smile, she was finally able to give Indra the one thing that she has been wanting most in her entire life, though Clarke never really understood why. It's a mystery that is yet to be unveiled.

"But how did you? It's-

"I know, the only one of its kind. I have actually noticed for some time now and so I made a few calls from my father and it took me a year to actually have a hold of that, I'm glad it finally did. You deserve it."

"Well, I don't know what to say. Clarke. Thank you, so, so much." Indra is a woman of words but this time, she did not know what to say.

"It's my please, Indra." Clarke gave her the tightest hug she could ever give.

"I have to go now, I'll see you there?"
"Yes. Thank you, Clarke."

Clarke proceeded and walked straight towards the Grounder's Hall. She found Octavia and sat beside her.

Octavia couldn't help but smile at every one she sees. "I am so excited. Hold me. I am very cold."

Clarke sighed. "I know, me too."

"Lights please..."

"Good morning to each and everyone. As you all know, we are gathered here today to orient you about your first and probably the biggest showcase of your works in your entire life. Your exhibit at The Primeheda Museum of the Arts."

The students couldn't help but let out a "woot, woot" because of their excitement.

"Shut it, Lincoln!" Octavia murmured towards her back.

"What? Aren't you excited, Blake?" Lincoln smirked while emphasizing the letter K.

"Go easy on him, O." Clarke inserted.

"I know you are all excited, we are too. But mind you that this is not your typical exhibit. This requires plenty of time, determination, focus, and commitment. So please, allow me to welcome Mr. Thelonious, chairman of The Primeheda Museum of the Arts."

"Good morning everybody. I am Mr. Thelonious Jaha, chairman of Primeheda Museum. I will be giving you the orientation. I hope I won't bore the hell out of you. How are we this fine morning?"

An hour went by and the orientation isn't half finished yet. After Mr. Thelonious talked about the history and the making of the museum, they decided to have a 15 minute break and will proceed with everything later.

Clarke was about to stand up when Octavia grabbed her. "Where you going?"

"I'm getting me a wine, do you want some?" Clarke stood up.

"Yes, thank you"

"I got you." Clarke went out from their hall and went to the food and beverage corner. She ate a piece of cheese and sausage. Gosh, this school never runs out of good food. Oh yes. While holding a piece of cheese, she was about to grab glasses of wine when she saw a familiar girl standing by the elevator.

Le- no, it's not her. Why else would she? I'm not even drunk yet and I'm hallucinating.

Clarke closed her eyes for a while and opened them as she watched the familiar girl walked right into the elevator. Just as the doors were about to close, the familiar girl turned around and faced the elevator door.

Clarke dropped her cheese.

It's her? It's her! It's... it's Lexa... I'm sure, it's her.

--

"There you are, where's my drink?" Octavia looked up.

"I-I'm sorry, they ran out." She chuckled. Their orientation continued, Mr. Thelonious proceeded with his talk and while this was going on, Octavia couldn't help but notice that the blonde girl was quite bothered and disturbed. She felt that Clarke didn't seem alright anymore, she thought that this girl, finished one bottle of wine.

"Hey, are you alright?" O, poked.

Clarke turned to her right and said "Yes, I am. Hehe." and coughed.

"You don't look alright, did something happen? are you sick? please don't tell me you're sick, ClarKe." Octavia let out a poker face. She is not liking this.

"I thought, uhh-

"You thought what?"

"I thought I-I saw..."

"You are killing me, what is it? speak!" Octavia whispered loudly feeling annoyed.

"It's Lexa, okay. I-I thought I saw her" Clarke looked down and took a deep breath.

"Oh, Clarke. Come here. This is not the right time for imaginations. Look, we are here and we're about to witness a big history of our lives." She moved closer to Clarke and put her arm over her shoulder but Clarke moved away and looked at O, seriously.

"I'm serious okay, I saw her. She was standing by the elevator and I saw her." the blonde explained, Octavia thought that her situation was getting worse.

"If it was her then why didn't you call her then?"

"I wasn't really sure." Clarke looked down again.

"See, and here I thought you were sure. You know what, forget about it. Why would Lexa come here? Anyway, Isn't she somewhere in Europe." Octavia scoffed, fixed herself and gave her attention back to Mr. Thelonious.

"You're right." was all Clarke said. She focused herself back to reality and it was like nothing happened.

--

"And that is all. I hope everything was as clear as a crystal. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to approach me after this orientation. I will now give the floor to my dearest friend, Indra." Every one clapped their hands as their excitement grew.

"Thank you for that marvelous orientation Mr. Jaha, I can see that these students are motivated, moved and excited as hell, well... who wouldn't?" They laughed.

"Now, as you all know, I have been in this institution for 20 years and in those years, never have I been more proud to see you all having your work being shown in a prestigious museum. As the saying goes by, 'all things must come to an end' and no, I am not leaving this institution. I have been offered with the most precious position, I am the new vice-president of The Primeheda Museum of the Arts but don't you worry, I will continue my work here as the art department head but from this day forth, I will no longer be your mentor during your 10 months of preparation." The students 'awwwwed' in unison.

"Instead, I am passing you to the best and another version of me." Indra chuckled.

"She used to be the art department head of another distinguished university in Europe, our sister school,  Praimfaya University. Please give her your warmest welcome, Ms. Alexandria Woods." Indra welcomed the brunette who came out behind the screen, she was wearing a floral dress and was smiling all the way through. Indra greeted her with a hug and whispered "I'm so happy you're here! It's good to see you again!" Lexa then replied "Me too! My heart is beating so fast right now!" the students were clapping so loud as they've never seen so much of a gorgeous and young department head, they were stunned.

Clarke could feel her heart beat… every single pound in her chest. The great pounding, this great pressure, every beat. She couldn't hear it yet, but she could feel it. It remains now, even as she watched the most beautiful brunette she had ever seen walk before her. Clarke dared to moved, she dared to breathe, she's frozen to the spot. She can feel her heart pounding in her chest...duh-duhn, duh-duhn. Deep heavy breathes sound nearby. The hairs on her arms stand to attention, chills march down her spine. Her breathes get deeper and deeper by the second. She can feel it still beating, pulsing, thumping. It didn't work, why won't it stop.

"Wooow, there's so many of you! I am so glad to be here. I am very excited to become a part of this big journey... standing here in front of all of you, guiding and mentoring you, I'm pretty sure this will become one of the best moments in my life and I am running out of words... I can't wait to work with all of you!" all of the students stood up and gave Lexa a big round of applause, everyone were excited. She smilingly looked around and noticed a blonde hair girl sitting in front.

"Thank you everyone!" Indra gave a closing speech and ended and the orientation.

--

This couldn't be. Praimfaya University? What? This doesn't make any sense. "Clarke, come on, we have to go, shouldn't you act surprised or scared, I'm not ready for this shit. I'm feeling nervous for you Clarke, Holy shit. Let's go already!" Octavia then grabbed Clarke's arm, hoping it's not too late to go out, Indra usually calls for their presence at the end of every meeting or after every classed and have a short chitty chat.

"Clarke? Octavia? Come here! Quick!" shit, it's too late. Clarke gulped. She stood up and started to walk with Octavia, feeling helpless.

"So? what are your thoughts? It's super exciting isn't it?" Indra giggled, "Yes, Indra. I really- we really couldn't wait to begin, right Clarke?" Octavia elbowed the blonde who's about to die, anytime soon.

"Ye-yes! So excited! yeey!" Clarke began to feel a little bit normal as the brunette was out of sight. She let out her deepest sigh ever and smiled.

"Off you go then! I'll see you this Wednesday! Your first day!" Indra hugged both of the girls. "Oh Clarke, are you that excited? You're so cold and pale! what happened!"

Clarke laughed, "Oh nothing! I just can't wait." Indra nodded and both of them proceeded to walk out until Octavia, "Oh shit, Clarke. I actually have to go and talk to Mr. Thelonious about our project. Lincoln and I decided to go together while you were out. If you wouldn't mind waiting for me downstairs? I know you can't wait to get out of this building." Clarke agreed, "Okay, sure thing. Be quick, Okay?" Clarke walked out of the hall and noticed that all of the students have left already. She proceeded to walk towards the open and empty elevator and pressed a button.

Just as the doors were about to fully close, "Wait for me please!" a girl with a floral dress showed up. The brunette did not look surprised at all. She looked at Clarke's ocean eyes and entered quietly.

The air is so brittle it could snap, and if it doesn't, Clarke might. No one speaks, what is there to say? Lexa can feel the fear in her chest waiting to take over. Perhaps it only wants to protect her but there really isn't any danger. Two inches apart and they both wanted to touch each other so bad. Clarke let out a slow controlled breath and attempted to loosen her body movements. Lexa turned her head to Clarke, "I-," Clarke looked at Lexa but she looked away. "It's good to see you." Lexa gulped. Clarke looked away, "I could say the same." Lexa turned her head to Clarke once again, "I'm sorry.", Clarke looked at Lexa and this time she didn't look away, "You shouldn't say that." Clarke turned her head away but Lexa remained. "Maybe I do." Clarke faced her again and she noticed Lexa was looking directly into her lips.

Lexa looked away, "I missed you." and just like that she walked out of the elevator. In this heartache the sun won't shine. Distance was all that mattered. Lexa needed to get away from Clarke, Lexa thought, the more brutal the storm the calmer my heart. She walked through a maze of buildings and winding side streets as the sky rumbled, and heavy rain bounced off the cobblestones. A storm smothered the sun, greying the world around her. Drops of rain beat against her skin like hammers. She wasn’t scared. She was heartbroken.
