Pirate AU
Marlene sat in the brig, trying and failing to get comfortable. Her dress was pinching her, having to sit on the floor for hours. She sighed, standing up and sliding the ruffled, yellow and blue dress off. Then detached the pannier hoop skirt, the main source of her discomfort. She shoved the clothing into the corner of the brig, just as captain Meadowes entered the small, dark room.
She frowned upon seeing her and averted her eyes, "What are you doing?"
Marlene grinned, heading over to the bars and sticking her head through, "I was uncomfortable. Can a lady not get changed in peace?"
"Right, of course", Dorcas coughed, still staring away from Marlene, "Did you want a change of clothes?"
Marlene shrugged, "I'm not really cold or anything at the moment. Kinda thirsty, though."
"But- you're only in your under... garments. I can grab you some clothes, you're probably about the same size as Lily."
"Sure", Marlene nodded, "And bring back some water!"
"Of course."
Marlene smiled as the captain quickly left, only for another crew member to pop in- a man with messy hair and a pair of eyeglasses. He entered the cabin without his sword, foolish if the person in the brig actually cared about escaping. Luckily for him, that was not on Marlene's mind.
"Hello!"
The man laughed upon seeing her, "I was wondering why Captain was so flustered. Put some clothes on, Lady Marlene. No one wants to see that."
Marlene grinned, "Your captain seems to."
"Hm", the man considered it, "True."
Marlene tapped her fingers against the bars in thought, "Do you think they'll hold off on pushing me in the ocean to drown if they fall in love with me?"
The man laughed again, "Is that your plan is it? Well, no harm in trying, I suppose."
