Presidents
”Last week off school” Lexa smiled as Clarke opened the door and they entered the school.
”Can’t wait until it’s over!” Clarke was excited about is as well, to finally have some time off. ”Hey!” She greeted some students that waved at them, after the election they had gotten even more popular than before.
”They love us” Lexa said proudly as she also waved at them.
”I know!” The blonde chuckled. ”So are you ready for the test?” Lexa was having her last test of the year and Clarke had helped her study last night.
”Yeah I think so!”
”Won’t be a problem for you” Clarke winked and they reached Lexa’s locker.
”So…” Lexa struggled with the locker like she did everyday. ”Are you planning on answering Bellamy’s text?” She wondered as he texted Clarke yesterday practically begging for her forgiveness.
”Honestly…after what he has done I don’t think so…and I know you aren’t his biggest fan either”
”I don’t think he deserves you but you already know my opinion” Lexa shrugged, she was over this topic.
”And I listen” Clarke smiled at her. ”He’s not as important as you and I don’t want anyone in my life who treats the people I love like that, it’s toxic”
”But you care for him?” Lexa continued.
”I miss what we used to have, yes…but I’m not interested in what he has become”
”Cool” Lexa was done with her locker and closed it gently.
”I like that we’re so open about everything, no lies” Clarke lingered their arms together so that they could continue to her locker.
”Yeah” Lexa agreed but still not sure if she should tell Clarke about the election or not.
”So you’re dad seemed…different today?” Clarke mentioned as she remember his odd behavior this morning.
”He’s been different since the party” Lexa told her. ”I think he feels guilty for the past years”
”Not to sound harsh but he should”
”I’m just glad things are slowly turning back to normal you know…and I feel more like myself lately. It’s like I lost myself for a second this year”
”You’re not the only one” Clarke grabbed her books and closed the locker again. ”However, it makes me really happy that things are brightening up for you babe”
”It makes me happy when you call me babe” Lexa winked. ”See you at lunch?”
”Can’t wait” Clarke smiled and watched as her girl walked away.

”I wonder why we even have to be in class this week” Raven complained as they where literally doing nothing at the moment, they where already done with the last assignment for their English class.
”Should we really be complaining?” Clarke looked at her. ”Look at Octavia she’s stressing so much I’m scared she will get a heart attack”
”She has herself to blame, saving everything for the last week”
”I can still hear you guys” Octavia mumbled but didn’t look up from her computer.
”You’re doing great sweetie” Raven smiled at her.
”How about we talk about prom?” Clarke suggested. ”I’m actually excited”
”Have you asked Lexa yet?”
”Not really…I wanna do something special but I’m not sure what”
”She’s not a big fan of big gestures is she?”
”No…she likes it private but still romantic…what about you and Anya?”
”Lincoln went down on one knee and got the team to spell out prom for me” Octavia chuckled.
”You need to study girl…schh…” Raven hushed her. ”Anya casually asked me at lunch” She chuckled. ”Her way was simple but I mean it’s Anya, that’s what I like about her”
”Any ideas for me?” Clarke looked at her friends, knowing damn well that Octavia was now a part off the conversation.
”Just ask her” Raven looked at Clarke like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
”I just…I disappointed her so much this year and I wanted to make it special” Clarke sighed.
”Well what does she like then?” Octavia wondered.
”Should I do a speech?” Clarke looked at her friends excited.
”A speech?”
”Well our story started with us bashing each other in the cafeteria but how about I make it romantic instead?”
”Might not be a bad idea but would Lexa like the attention?” Raven asked her.
”She might say she’s a private person but I do know she loves some attention every once in a while”
”It’s settled then…do it at lunch?” Raven smiled at her.
”I will!” Clarke liked the idea.
After a few more classes with nothing to do Clarke was rushing to finish her lunch, she ignored the looks from her friends. She was ready to get up on that stage and ask Lexa to prom.
”She just walked in!” Raven informed her.
”Hide!” Clarke wasn’t sure where to hide but if Lexa saw them her and Anya would join their table.
”We are always at this table, they will see us?” Raven questioned her.
”Do something then…Octavia pretend to cry!” Clarke stressed.
”Pardon?”
”CRY!” Clarke stood up and walked over to Octavia’s chair to put her arms around her.
”You’re something else” Octavia rolled her eyes but leaned into the hug.
”Raven, make sure they won’t come near”
”I’m shaking my head, Anya sees me…she thinks we are being weird…um…okay they took their usual table, we’re in the clear”
”Thank god!” Clarke breathed out.
”Anya just texted me” Raven chuckled. ”Wondered what drugs we’re on”
”That obvious?” Clarke chuckled and looked over at the sisters, Lexa smiled at her with a confused face.
”I guess it’s now or never?” Octavia looked at Clarke.
”I guess” Clarke let go off her friend and stood up straight. ”Wish me luck!”
Clarke rushed to the stage, feeling her nerves get to her - she wasn’t usually nervous, thankfully she was one off the few people who liked to speak in front of an audience…but right now she could feel her heartbeat and her hands was getting shaky and sweaty.
”GO CLARKE” She could hear some student yell from the back off the cafeteria, her classmates had noticed she was heading towards the stage. A huge step and then she had to face everyone who was eating their lunch right now, she took a deep breath and turned around.
Lexa was sitting pretty close to the stage, green eyes looked at her curious with a slight smile on her face. Clarke reached for the microphone, she knew how to turn it on to well - her hand smoothly pressed the button.
”Hi” She cleared her voice a little and now she had everyone’s attention. ”First off all I would like to thank you all for your support, being president with Lexa is something I look forward too - and together I think we can make a huge difference with some help from you guys” She stopped for a second to let everyone settle down from their previous cheering and clapping. ”I have been on this stage a few times…some, I’m not so proud off. Let’s just say that me and Lexa didn’t get the greatest start, we judged each other way to quickly and I wanted to be honest about that. This past year has been a roller coaster, once I found out Lexa was my opponent I freaked out…” Clarke took a deep breath, she knew she was rambling. She was usually prepared for her speeches but right now she had no idea what she was talking about.
”I freaked out because I know so many off you love her, look up to her - and at that point I couldn’t understand it…mostly because I had never given her a chance. Thinking we where to different…and I think she had the same idea about me…” Clarke looked over at Lexa who smiled and shook her head and she gained some laughter from the audience. ”What I’m trying to say is that…I was wrong, and I am so sad that I had prejudiced thought about her - because as I was pretty much forced to get to know her I had to swallow my own pride and admit that she’s amazing. I could finally understand what everyone was seeing in her, Lexa has a kind heart, she cares about other people, she’s smart and she values trust more than anything…I don’t think I have to mention that she’s gorgeous too” Clarke smiled because how shy Lexa suddenly got, people where agreeing with everything she said up there and cheered Lexa on.
”What are you doing?” She mouthed too Clarke.
”Well, lesson learned is to never judge the book by the cover, it’s such a cliche thing to say but I think it’s so important. I know that she made me grow this year and helped me become a better person - and I think it’s something we can all take with us. We have to stop judging people before we know them - beautiful things can happen” Clarke took another breath and people nodded in agreement to what she said.
”So…I know I’m talking to much - you all just want to enjoy your lunch so I will get to my point…Lexa” Clarke turned to face the brunette. ”Life is to short to hide your feelings…so I am done with it - this year my priorities got blurry but it has always been you. It will always be you and I hope you get that now. If I had the choice between you and a million things I’ve always wanted, I would choose you every single time…” Clarke locked eyes with Lexa who seemed to listen very carefully at every word she said. ”It would make me the happiest girl if you wanted to go to prom with me…” The speech maybe wasn’t as magical as she had imagined it in her head, but her classmates seemed excited and Lexa stared at her with a warm smile.
”COME ON!” Anya put her hand on Lexa’s shoulder to sort of make her snap back to reality and Lexa stood up so that she could walk up on the stage where Clarke was waiting patiently. People where cheering as she finally reached the stage.
”You’re something…you know that right?” Lexa chuckled and only Clarke could hear her.
”Say it louder for the people in the back” Clarke said into the microphone.
”Of course I want to go to prom with you” Lexa smiled into the mic before she grabbed Clarke around her waist to pull her into a kiss, Clarke’s hands reached for the brunettes face and she was overwhelmed by the happiness in her body and the people clapping and cheering as they finally kissed in front off everyone.
They weren’t a secret anymore and it felt like they kissed for the first time, something in that moment changed - almost felt magical after all. They didn’t need to hide anymore and Clarke couldn’t help but feel nothing but joy - Lexa was her’s and everyone knew now.
The rest off the day was quickly rushing by, the new president couple was on everyones mind - it was shocking for the students but as Lexa and Clarke walked the hallway they got nothing but big smiles and congratulations.
”Do think I would look good in a suit?” Lexa asked as they just sat down in her car.
”Don’t tease me…” Clarke could imagine it, she would look amazing in a suit.
”I’m actually really looking forward to prom” Lexa smiled at her. ”To finally have you on my arm, not only as my girlfriend but as also as my partner”
”We’re gonna do great next year”
”Oh good, look at them” Lexa chuckled and pointed towards her sister and Raven who was running towards the car, looking extremely stressed and out off breath.
”I don’t see Raven run a lot, must be important…or not” Clarke laughed. ”You never know with her”
”Hold on” Lexa rolled down her window. ”What are you guys doing?”
”WAIT FOR US” Anya yelled back and when they finally reached the car they entered the backseat.
”Am I forgetting any plans we had together?” Lexa looked at them confused.
”Come on, it’s the last week off school - we are practically done, let’s celebrate and do something fun - we made it, you guys made it” Anya rambled and Lexa looked over at Clarke.
”I could be down for some food and…bowling?” She suggested.
”I knew we could count on you guys” Raven smiled.
”Does it include beers?” Lexa wondered.
”Stupid question sis” Anya shook her head.
”Let me call Lincoln and Octavia to meet us at the diner” Raven reached for her phone.
”I can’t wait for a chaotic summer with you guys” Clarke chuckled.
”Maybe some privacy” Lexa lowered her voice and reached for Clarke’s hand as she started the car.
”Thank god” Clarke smiled and they started laughing.
”What’s so funny?” Anya asked them.
”Yeah, why are we missing out back here?” Raven heard them too.
”We where just talking about how much we love you guys” Lexa told them.
”I don’t believe you but I’m to hungry to care right now” Anya sighed. ”Do you have trouble finding that gas pedal?”
”Always a delight” Lexa shook her head but she was smiling.
”Turn up the music as well!” Raven laughed at the chaos in the car.
”We should’ve locked the doors” Clarke looked at Lexa.
”Next time” Lexa winked.
Clarke did turn the volume up and as they where driving to get some food the girls sang loudly while the sun lit up the town - it was a sunny day and it was a good idea to hang out. Summer was around the corner and everything was finally looking bright for all of them.
Nothing is ever perfect but it’s important to cherish the good moments. Clarke wasn’t gonna waste a second off this summer - and she couldn’t wait to spend it with Lexa and her friends - to just live in the moment, taking day by day.
”I hope they have a free table” Anya said as the car was parked and they got out.
”Otherwise I will stand and eat” Raven told her.
”I guess we have to make a raincheck on our date” Lexa put her arm around Clarke.
”My plans was to watch a movie and make out all evening” Clarke chuckled.
”We could always make a run for it?” Lexa suggested.
”I thought you wanted beers?”
”Oh, that’s true”
”We have a whole summer to be boring, I want to have some shots with you tonight”
”Shots?” Lexa looked at her surprised.
”Body shots?” Clarke teased.
”Yes, that movie sounds boring” Lexa bit her lip.
”Come here” Clarke leaned in for a kiss that was a bit more eager than she intended, Lexa didn’t seem to mind as her tongue sneaked in to play with hers.
”GET A ROOM” Raven yelled at them.
”NO GET US A TABLE” Anya yelled.
”Dear god” Lexa laughed into the kissed.
”It’s gonna be a lovely summer” Clarke lingered their fingers and they walked towards their friends.
”I ordered four long island ice teas while we wait for a table” Raven chuckled.
”I guess we are celebrating” Clarke smiled at her friend.
”Girls, let’s have some fun” Lexa opened the door and held it for everyone.
”Perfect timing” Anya smiled at the bartender who handed them a drink each.
”For Lexa and Clarke, the presidents!!!!” Raven yelled.
”For us” Clarke agreed and winked at Lexa as they all cheered their glasses.
Clarke wasn’t gonna lie, she loved Anya and Raven - a summer with them and Lexa would be an absolutely roller coaster - a good one. She couldn’t wait to get on and to be nothing but a girlfriend and a friend these next weeks.
Finally.
