The First Day
Krit arrives at the entrance hall of the school. Many people are there already. Students with their parents. the 14-year-old boy is nervous. His mother has tried to ease his nerves, but that didn't really help. Krit looks around while waiting in line to get his keys and timetable. He sees someone, a boy, that catches his eye. The boy is standing with people that Krit assumes to be his family. Because the family of four people is standing so close-by, Krit can hear their conversation vaguely.
"Dad, we will be fine. I can take care of Jack." the girl who is standing next to the unknown boy says with confidence. "And I can take care of Jan." the boy adds. The two older people who are standing with them, their parents, nod and smile proudly. Krit remembers the name of the boy: Jack. It suits him, Krit thinks to himself.
Later, Krit and his parents enter a room. The boy has the entire room for himself. The "room" is basically a cabin. It has an attached bathroom and it is furnitured. There is enough place for Krit to leave his stuff. Krit puts his luggage down and turns to his parents. Those hum approvingly. They think about how they picked the right school for their so to attend. His own room, no disturbings.
"Well, it is getting late. I think we should leave. Make sure to call us from time to time." Krit's father says. Krit nods. "I will, dad, mom."
The boy hugs both of his parents. He is afraid he will miss them, but deep down he knows there isn't much to miss. Both of his parents seem to work day and night and barely spend time with him. Krit guesses that's what you get when your father is a CEO of a large Thai company.
Not much time passes before the family of each student leaves the island. Krit walks out of his room and looks around. He has no idea who is staying in the cabin next to him. That is, until a boy walks out of the cabin. He looks around as well and sees Krit. He shortly waves. The boy takes a deep breath and walks up to Krit.
"H-Hi, you are new here too?" he asks. Krit nods. It's the same boy from earlier. The one named Jack, Krit remembers. "My name's Jack." the boy holds out his hand for Krit to shake. Krit shortly shakes his hand. "I'm Krit." Krit replies with a shy smile. He is a bit taller than Jack, he notices.
Both boys suddenly hear a voice.
"Jack? Jack!"
Jack turns around and looks at the girl that is walking up the him. "Did mom leave the snacks she made with you?" the girl asks. Jack nods. "They're inside my room. You can take them." he says. "Thank you." she says before entering Jack's cabin.
"That's my sister," Jack explains to Krit. "Her name is Jan."
