Note
This was heavily inspired by Hiddenwitch890 ‘s fanfics about the Hex girls dramatic pasts. I give full credit to that author and their writing for the entire inspiration of this fanfic..I’d also recommend listening to the ‘Heaven and Hell’ playlist by Ava max. From ‘Torn’ to Sweet but Psycho. Those are the most angsty lol.Ok? Ok!So now we got the premises, let’s get down to the actual fanfic!

They all had their moments, times the past came back to haunt them. Ruin their day. Warp their minds until their broke. But every time that happened, their other 2 girlfriends were their to put them back together. Helping them through it, and coming our stronger in the end for it.

Luna with her abandonment and perfectionist issues, Dusk constantly being on guard, and Thorn constantly doubting herself.

1. Luna

Lunas moments were the most, abrupt, per say. You never knew when they were coming. Their was no build up. No warning signs, nothing.

Even now, they barely had a premises on how to figure out in advance on when one was coming.

They did know some things, like they usually happened when they were gone. As being alone was probably her biggest trigger of anything.

But Luna hated to feel babied, hated when they tried to make excuses to stay with her. It was all just a matter of trusting they would be back soon. Hopefully.

It only happened 2 so far when they were home. But because of that, they could not keep track whatsoever.

But it was sudden as hell, all in the matter of a second.

One moment she was sweet, caring, and the motherly girlfriend they all knew and loved. The next, she was angry, violent, seething. Eyes crazed and fists a blur.

It was never aimed at Thorn and Dusk, never. Which meant it was aimed at herself. She’d scream and yell, throwing things around in their room, destroying everything in site. And when that didn’t work she’d grab at her hair and pull, hard.

It was probably why it was so unpredictable, Luna was the sweetest person they could think of, to have her demons shine so brightly, have her pain so visible, it was shocking to see.

The two would arrive home to hear the sound of crashing, and things breaking. And yet they knew not to be afraid, they knew who it was.

Running upstairs, they’d open the door to find Luna. Screaming, pacing. The opposite of normal.

“They GAVE UP ON ME!” She’d yell.

“WHY WAS I ABANDONED?!”

So many thoughts would stream through the ebony witch, overwhelming her with anger and guilt. But it was never her fault. It was all her parents, who trained her that being Perfect was everything, and once she made a mistake, they cast her out forever.

Thorn and Dusk would approach her like a wild animal, slowly, and careful.

It would be sharp, when they pounced, trying their best to catch her off guard.
As Luna would never want to hurt her girlfriends, but she would fight them, to try and protect herself.

But they had to grab her, had to pin her arms to her chest. Cause if not she would continue her violent harming rage, and the last thing they needed was for Luna to hurt herself.

Thorn would usually sink to the floor, her struggling girlfriend in her arms, throwing desperate shoves that bordered on painful. But she would pay no attention to them.

Dusk would run and grab Lunas chew necklace, as she would sometimes try and bite her way out of their hold.
But also, because in this state, her mind would regress, revert to a time where biting and sucking on something was soothing. Calming.

After a while of fighting, until she was completely restrained and not able to move an inch, she would freeze. Sit their, breath trying to regulate on her own, but never working.

It was random, when she’d reach for the necklace. She’d shove it in all at once, while thorn whispered soothing nothings.

“Shhh, it’s ok. We’re here. Your not alone,” she’d say, “We’d never leave you.”

Dusk would probably be laying/holding onto Lunas ankles, and would draw little shapes on her thighs, not saying anything, but offering her presence instead.

“I wanna be loved,” Luna would confess every time, choking on a sob, “Why couldn’t they love me.”

“You are loved.” They would both reply. It was never a question. They both loved her with all their hearts.

Eventually Luna would pass out from the whole ordeal, and from the fact that she had wicked insomnia. Probably from staying up all night and thinking about the things she never said. Which lead to these more often.

Once when she’d wake up though, she’d be back to normal, and act like nothing ever happened.

But she was grateful, they both knew that. They just wished she wouldn’t bottle up all her emotions. Maybe if she talked to them about this more often, their wouldn’t be times where’d she break.

Maybe.

All they did know, was they would be their for her when they could. And give as much love as they could.

2. Dusk

Dusks moments were something they could plan for. Sometimes even prevent all-together.

To be plain, her moments were Panic attacks. And while they knew panic attacks affected every person different, it was relatively easy to tell when Dusk would have one.

She’d typically flinch at any random noise, and constantly be throwing glances behind her, checking to see if someone was about to attack. Distrustful was one thing, Dusk turned so paranoid she’d start to look a bit insane.

Her eyes would start to squint at things, which the two never fully understood the reason for. But it was a sign nevertheless, so they took it in stride.

Once Thorn or Luna noticed these things, they would jump into action.

One person, usually Luna, would stay with Dusk, talking to her calmly, holding her hand, and overall trying to keep her grounded.
While Thorn would rush to fix a makeshift pillowish fort. Putting on some movie she knew would pull the blonde away from the lures of a panic attack, and be comforting at the same time.

Once she was done, they would all convene in fort, snuggling in close to each other, Dusk in the middle.

A lot of times, it worked, and the attack was avoided all together. But their was some times it wasn’t.

Usually, if they weren’t able to pull her from her thoughts fast enough, her breath would fluctuate dramatically, and she would say the walls were closing in.

“Too tight,” dusk would rasp, “Too small.”

The fear that one of her parents was about to come hurt her would overwhelm her, making her head spin with suspicions and panic.

The two eldest would rush to turn on all the lights, laying dusk down in the middle. Where it was open and you could see every angle of the room.
Once that was done, they’d place her pale hands on one of their chests, so she could match their breathing and stop hyperventilating.

After the initial danger was gone, it was all slow and steady from their, just a matter of getting her comfortable. And in close proximity to the two of them.

Dusk would fall asleep soon enough, completely knocked out.
It was normal for her to slip off into a comatose sleep, where literally nothing could wake her up instead herself.

Good thing she had a wicked internal clock.

Thorn would normally nod off next, while Luna stayed up. Keeping watch like a hawk.

Half from her insomnia, and mostly from her need to protect her girlfriends.

When dusk would wake up, she would be a little extra clingy for the day, but they didn’t mind. In fact they always made sure that for the duration of the next 24 hours someone was always with her, for her sake and well-being.

The blonde didn’t comment on it much, but they knew that her affectionate little head plonks to the shoulder was her way of saying thanks.

And they wouldn’t have it any other way.

3. Thorn

To be fair, while Lunas moments were sudden, Thorns were pretty abrupt as well.

The difference was their was no polar opposite change, no fits of rage, or trouble breathing.

Thorn would just be talking, happily laughing with her girlfriends, and then,

she’d stop.

And when they said stop, they meant full on frozen.

Her face would drop into an emotionless stare. She would cease talking. And all moving would come to a hilt.

It wasn’t slow, it was an immediate transformation. Almost like a phone, how one moment it’s alive and working and the next it’s—

...

... It’s dead.

They hated to think of thorn like that, but when she was in her vegetative state, their was no similar word.

She wouldn’t respond to communication or stimuli, her eyes would glaze over, along with barely blinking. And if you got lost in her expression, it would look like she stopped breathing as well.

The two of them had done some research and found out this was Thorns Fight-flee-freeze stress response to something happening in her head.

It was normally a reaction to something physically, or daunting, as you are faced with a dangerous problem and your survival instincts kick in.

But in Thorns case, all it took was a hint of a thought or memory to back when she lived with her parents and she instinctively numbed out. Disassociating herself from the world around her until she was safe inside her head.

While it looked scary to Luna and Dusk, they knew that this was Thorns way of coping with her past.

So they did their best to help.

They found out that most people freeze cause they don’t believe anyone was coming for them, and they were utterly helpless.

But you see, that wasn’t true now.

Thorn had her two girlfriends their for her 24/7.

While touch didn’t show a physical reaction, they knew that it could cause a person to spiral deeper. So they tried to not touch her when they could.

Moving to grab some pillows and lay them in a comforting bed wall on the floor, they picked Thorn up as quickly and gently as they could, hurriedly laying her down in the middle of their creation.

They had learned that creating a safe and comforting atmosphere could help thorn snap back to reality faster.

Luna and Dusk would both sit nex to her, patiently watching over her until she battles through all the memories.

It was slow, when she did. Thorn had said numerous times it felt disorienting.

Her eyes would blink unevenly, and her limb would shake and jerk at odd angles, getting used to the feeling of movement again. Kinda like waking up from a deep sleep.

Luna and Dusk would first wait till she got full mobility. Then, with curious eyes, would proceed to go down the list of things Thorns parents told her that wasn’t true.

“You are beautiful.”

“You are kind.”

“You are smart.”

“You are talented.”

Down and down the list they went, until Thorn was comfortably snuggled between them. Patiently awaiting the last sentence, the one they always saved for last.

“You are Loved.”
