(Part 1/3) The other side of the coin

There is no such a thing called love was part of her plan as she entered Highschool. The only thing she just wanted is to finish this and find a better college.

But her life is so playful that she just not entered a school but an unique school. A lot of things happened in a young age, sharpening her judgment and skills that she didn’t knew she had. Mary can’t help but to get herself into a lot of things that can trouble her. Her body and mind craves for power.

So she keeps on wagering. Mary is smart, skillful, wise and strong-willed. She took her potential into greater use— earning a lot of money, gaining a high status and also made the part of the student body felt intimidated at her tough and smart personality. That is all mattered to her.

Not until she met a friend but soon gone because of some instances that she made. With that loss, she promised to herself that she would guard herself more— that she would be careful because this goddamn academy is full of predator and she doesn’t want to be a prey for them.

Mary keeps on playing her card safely, not wanting to risk anything and gain anything problematic despite the status. She just keeps on playing around.

Her comfortable status may skyrocketed after her previous downfall with the old council— everything switched into 360 degrees as her smugness brought her to her feet.

When she met the raven-haired girl, she felt nothing but exhilarating excitement yet there is an underlying fear because there is something that she can’t name. But her predatorial mind lures her to make this gorgeous lady as her prey. Since she’s pretty decent for her— that transferee girl might be a good use of her if she won this stupid bet with a little tricks on her sleeves.

But she underestimated her. And her greed and arrogance drove her into madness. Not until she lose the game she made.

Humiliating.

That fucking girl. That stupid fucking pretty girl named Jabami Yumeko.

She didn’t just defeat her. She drag her to hell and mud. She didn’t just taste the bitterness of defeat but the blandness of suffering as she turned into a house pet that they hated so much.

That freaking girl.. she turned into mitten like her. Mary cheered and celebrated with that a mere fact. Her life as a house pet became lighter with that fact, knowing her mortal enemy is suffering like her.

Before she reduced into pathetic state, Mary keeps on crossing at that girl. The raven-haired girl just keeps on pestering her as if they are friends. But Mary can’t be friends with someone who just ate her alive. That was absurd.

Never in her wildest dream she would be friend with that gambling fiend. Even she’s one of the prettiest girl she had met.

Mary rather die than being with her.

If fate is playing with her, they are good at picking Mary’s nerves as Yumeko and her became partner with some stupid bet for then to redeem themselves.

She hated with full of her heart that they are together right now. Mary wants to bash her skull even it is a shame because she’s.. no way, she’s not pretty! Mary scolded her mind. There is no way she looked at her like that.

Despite hating her gut, she trusted her once. And then, they claimed their victory against a stupid guy.

Despite Yumeko running and jumping at her, Mary decided to put a distance with her because Yumeko is nothing but a danger to her.

She won’t associate with that risky type of girl.

But fate.. fate is really trying to lose her mind.

Even she’s trying so damn hard to put a fucking distance towards her became so impossible because of the raven-haired girl’s clinginess. Mary hated her gut, she’s so sure of it, but damn, this girl can’t get a hint that she has nothing to do with her.

“Why are you so.. you know, salty when it comes to me?” the brown-eyed girl asked, earning a confused glare from Mary who’s silently eating her snacks at the school’s quadrangle. “Salty? Are you fucking shitting on me?” Mary retorted sternly while rolling her eyes.

“We’re friends, right?”

“Fuck, no,” she replied right away, almost beating her up with that answer.

Unknowingly, the dark haired girl, Yumeko, she flinched from that straight answer. Fortunately that small reaction from her turned unnoticed by her companion who’s busy frowning while munching her favorite snack. Mary is unaware that her unwanted friend stared at her longingly.

“See? You’re kinda salty!”

“Can you fucking leave me alone in peace?” Mary snapped angrily.

The latter only giggled in reply. The sound she made echoed inside her mind but Mary decided to brush it off, nothing matters to her but to eat right now not to admire the girl’s cute giggle.

Stupid girl, she thought before shrugging her head.

They were times that she’s not there to pester her. It feels like there is a gaping hole beside her but she decided to ignore that gnawing feeling. Mary wants to be alone most of times. She should be happy that Yumeko is not trying to be present— that she’s out there, making her life as a bet.

Life is.. somehow— more interesting. Despite the danger, thrill and the possibility of getting hurt or worse die, Mary kinda wanted this life. Despite her slowly fizzling anger she had for Yumeko, she kind of grateful that she disturbs her boring life. She learned a lot from that downfall but she won’t admit it.

Mary rather kill herself than to admit that girl changed her life.

That girl. Mary started to wonder why the hell is this girl keeps on chasing for something intangible. Betting her status, life, and so on— whatever can make her so damn crazy, Mary wonders why. That girl isn’t just simpleminded, she.. yeah, she wants something that can benefit her but sometimes she looks like she’s searching for tasteful defeat.

She’s smart. Yeah, that girl won’t settle for something so simple. And Mary can’t help but to think that she’s really an enigma.

Upon observing that girl, Mary concludes that she isn’t capable of.. caring? loving someone else.

Because how come? She only thinks of gamble.

That conclusion solidifies as she heard somewhere that Yumeko is pushing her limits— battling someone who is.. capable of dragging her down to hell again.

She’s different.

But she likes that uniqueness from her. Not in a.. no, just.. she just likes her as a person only. Just a normal human being.

If she’s normal, Mary thought to herself.
