Chapter 17
"How was that the perfect date?" CM scoffed upon overhearing Gina and Shea in the break room. "There was nothing fun."
"It's called reading the person and respecting their boundaries, dickhead," Gina glared at CM. "Besides, Elliot had a long week managing her restaurant and I know for a fact that she's an introverted homebody. The best date for her requires nothing on her part."
Shea chuckled. "Topher told me that Elliot once-neglected all of her work for a month because she was stressed out from it and hid somewhere no one could find her, except Reese did and joined her. Terrance nearly called the cops on them."
"I haven't heard that story yet," Gina huffed as her phone rang.
It was Elliot so she answered on speakerphone. Gina was glad for that because the scream was ear-piercing.
"Gina!" Elliot cried. "I need you!"
"What for?" Gina questioned.
Elliot cleared her throat before explaining. "Well, since Terrance is dead... I have spare tickets to this live concert lineup for the rest of this year and up to next summer. I don't want to take Topher. He sucks. Plus he hates all my music choices. Will you go with me?"
Gina chuckled. "And you're asking me now?"
"I just got the tickets in the mail for a concert next week," Elliot grumbled. "Besides, this was an anniversary gift to me. Please go with me?"
"Convince me," Gina stated as CM grinned. "You know, I could go with you instead. The name's CM."
They could hear that the phone dropped on Elliot's side before a disgusted noise. "Gina, you're at work, right? Why is someone hitting on me for free shit?"
"That's just how the dickhead is," Gina laughed. "Now about those concert tickets?"
"It's for Bleachers and Charli XCX is opening for them" Elliot answered. "Did you want to come over and look at what's on the calendar for all the concerts? Does it sweeten the deal that some are VIP backstage passes? Gina?"
"Yeah, I'll come over early Friday morning," Gina replied. "I'm sure Shea won't mind it if I clock in a few hours later."
"I won't," Shea piped up. "If Gina won't take care of you, I will as long as we can come up with a food arrangement."
"But I want Gina and no one else at the moment," Elliot whined. "Reese, stop looking at me like that. I know -"
Gina frowned. "She didn't say bye."
Shea smirked. "Well, when there's a kid involved, things don't go well. Anyways, forward me that concert list when you see it so I can make sure you get the necessary time off to play house with Elliot."
"Is it really playing house when real feelings are involved?" Gina huffed, putting her phone away. "Damn. She had me at live concerts."
