Chapter 15

"Morning, Shea," Gina greeted her boss as they met on the elevator. "Enjoy the rest of the party?"

Shea smirked. "It was good. Although, Elliot was sulking a bit."

"I bet," Gina laughed. "I told her I couldn't stay long. Did she complain about how I stole a quarter of her cake?"

"She did," Shea laughed along. "So why did you leave?"

"I had a doctor's appointment to get to," Gina sighed, looking at her phone. "Plus move some things around on my calendar. It's time I take her on a date."

Shea squealed. "Aw, look at you. You do know I have to vet her."

Gina scoffed playfully. "I still haven't got much from her so good luck."

"Maybe I'll have better luck scaring the answers out of her," Shea teased, nudging Gina. "You deserve better than the last guy you were dating."

"Adam wasn't that bad, was he?" Gina asked.

"Terrible," Shea answered. "At least with Elliot, I know she can handle you being on this job. Plus she cooked for you."

"She owns a restaurant, Shea," Gina rolled her eyes.

"Oh come on," Shea grinned. "She meal prepped for you and played it off as making too much. Topher told me it was deliberate. It's how she flirts."

"That's not flirting," Gina giggled. "That's how you trap someone. Goddess, she's too good at this."

Shea beamed. "Well, I mostly like the fact that she makes you happy. Now, what are you planning for this date?"

Ben and CM watched as the boss and Gina exited the elevator, laughing. CM and everyone else at the office knew Ben had a thing for Gina, not that he would ever say anything. Most thought Gina and CM would end up together with the way they bantered.

"I wondered what got them in a good mood," Ben mumbled.

CM chuckled. "Remember how Elliot was here last week? Well, I have intel that those two were invited to the same party thrown by Elliot."

Ben looked at CM. "How would you know?"

"I'm a hacker, remember," CM puffed as Gina walked by to her desk.

"You don't have to remind everyone of that every day," Gina told CM. "Also, don't you have work to do? Why are you just sitting there?"

CM smirked. "What? No good morning?"

Gina rolled her eyes and was about to retort when her phone chimed. She quickly focused on that as she logged into her work computer.

"Gina?" Ben questioned.

"Shh," Gina shushed right away as she typed away on her phone. "I'm busy."

CM smirked. "Someone got a hot date."

"Shut it, Cooper," Gina replied with some bite. "Stay out of it."

"Excuse me," an intern cleared their throat. "Are you Gina Graham? I have this package for you from someplace called Affliction Cafe."

Gina looked up and took the package. "Thanks. Anything else?"

The intern shook their head and left. Gina took into the box and rolled her eyes. She took out a food storage bag and a large tin box, each with a note attached. She set the storage bag on her desk and took the tin box to Shea's office.

"Hey boss," Gina informed as she walked into Shea's office. "Your cookies are here."

Shea laughed as she accepted the box. "If you don't make her yours soon, I'm stealing her."

Gina huffed. "Back off, Shea. Elliot is my girlfriend."

"Oh, when did that happen?" Shea smirked.

"Soon," Gina retorted, flipping Shea off as she headed back to her desk.
