Chapter 7
Gina was relaxing on the couch reading. The light streamed in through the nearby window, giving the perfect atmosphere for her to enjoy the book. She was reaching the climax of the story when her phone incessantly chimed, indicating multiple texts.
Gina sighed as she set her book down for her phone. "This better not be work. It's my day off."
[Unknown Number] Hello Gina. It's Elliot. I've grown tired of waiting for you to call.
[Unknown Number] Before you ask how I got your number, remember you called me a few days ago.
[Unknown Number] You left quite an impression every time we met...
Gina snickered at the messages. She didn't expect this sad puppy display from Elliot but she did get a vibe of sensitivity from her. She sighed as she thought of how to respond.
[Unknown Number] I'm sure you're busy so goodbye. I do hope to see you at the restaurant again anytime you're available.
The message tugged at her heartstrings and she had to respond.
[Gina] Elliot, don't go yet.
[Unknown Number] Ahh, she doth response
Gina giggled and added the number to her contact as El Beckett. Something about texting Elliot was rather amusing to her. It was better than the usual work messages from her coworkers.
[Gina] I do
[Gina] How are you? You seem... sad?
[El] Because I haven't heard from you in a while. I miss your face. Is that... weird?
[Gina] Very but you're an odd person. However, it's refreshing.
[El] If I may be so bold, when may I see you again?
[Gina] That depends on work
[El] I see... I suppose I'll wait until you're free again to take you to brunch
[Gina] Are you that interested in me?
[El] Yes!
Gina was taken back by Elliot's honesty. She wasn't sure to pursue it or not. She decided to go with a safe lie.
[Gina] I have a boyfriend
[El] I'm okay with being friends. I can handle it.
[El] So when is your next free day?
[Gina] I'm not sure yet. I'll have to check the workload. What did you have planned for our friend date?
[El] Date? I said brunch.
[Gina] You know what I mean
[Gina] Maybe ditch the kid?
[El] That can be arranged but she wants to see you too
[El] She asks about you from time to time. Makes my brother-in-law give me questioning looks
[Gina] She'll live without seeing me
[Gina] I'll even get her a gift. What does she like?
[El] She's into jigsaw puzzles. The more pieces the better and animal prints
[Gina] Got it. We'll have brunch soon. I'll text you when.
[El] Until then, Gina. Enjoy your book.
Gina smirked, reading the last message again. She was very intrigued by Elliot and there was another curiosity behind it. She still wanted to get to the bottom of Elliot's curse and the redacted information.
