Chapter 3
“Finally. I managed to get all the requests done” Izumi pushed away from her desk, stretching her cramped arms. On her desk was her laptop, displaying a list of Emails she had sent off.. Izumi had gotten home from the Hospital an hour ago, and had got straight to work doing what she did best: Quirk Analysis.
Because of her mother being comatose, Izumi needed a way to take care of herself. So, with Dr Ishi’s help, Izumi became a registered Quirk Analysts, under the name of Mikumo. She wasn’t getting rich anytime soon, but she made enough money to live a relatively comfortable lifestyle. At least she wasn’t short of work. Nearly everyday somebody somewhere would Awaken their magician abilities, and they would immediately look for advice to handle their new powers. And as the Hero Commission was fucking useless for stuff like that, many turned to the Hunters Association.
The Hunters Association was a separate entity from the Hero Commission, which was established to handle Awakenings and Gates rather than Heroes and Villains. When Awakenings began to show up 10 years ago, many of them were not Heroes, but they could enter the Dungeons and fight the Monsters within them, unlike awakened Heroes. So, The Hunter Association was formed, managing Awakened user’s, who gained the nickname ‘Hunters’. They sole job was to close the Dungeons before the monsters within them could escape and cause havoc in our world. Hunters would form Guilds, which were essentially their version of Hero Agencies, while Awakened Heroes would form Guild-Agencies.
Heroes would fight Villains, Hunters would fight monsters, and Hero-Hunters would fight both.
That’s were Izumi came in. She was one of the many analysts in the Hunter Association’s employ. Tasked with helping others understand their powers.
Now that her work was out of the way……….
“Let’s see what your all about shall we?” she looked at the floating screen, now reading:
[Quest Info]
[Daily Quest-Train to become a formidable combatant]
Goals
-Push-Ups [0/100]
-Sit-Ups [0/100]
-Squats [0/100]
-Run [0/10KM]
CAUTION-If the Daily Quest remains incomplete, penalties will be given accordingly.
Earlier, the screens had informed her that this power, calling itself ‘The System’ was supposed to help the ‘Player’ (Izumi) develop, and failing to comply with the System would result in some sort of Penalty.
She had also found another screen, which showed Izumi and her ‘stats’
[Name: Izumi Midoriya Level: 1

In all of her three years of Analysing Quirks and Magic, she had never seen anything like this before. She had heard of Quirks that could act like game systems, and Storage Quirks like her inventory, but nothing like The System.
Izumi took another look at the Daily Quest, re-reading the requirements for it. To was it was a crazy amount of exercise was an understatement. 100 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats and a 10KM run? It felt like a One Punch Man reference.
Not that Izumi was opposed to exercise, but last time she did that it didn’t turn out so well for her. Katsuki had caught wind of it, and on one of runs after school he ambushed her, and left a nasty burn mark on her left leg. And that put an end to that.
“I guess I could find another route to take so he doesn’t find out, but there’s no way I’m finishing this now” It was already 10 O’clock, and she needed to get some sleep “I’ll give it a try tomorrow and go from there. Good thing it’s the weekend. Plenty of time to figure this out. The Penalty Zone can’t be that bad”
[Notice]
[You have failed to complete your Daily Quest. You will be transferred to the ‘Penalty Zone’ for an allotted amounted of time]
Izumi woke up to a violet rumbling, shooting up in her bed. The world aournd her began to change, as if reality was being warped around her. In an instant, sh foun herself in a barren dessert, with thw harsh light of a red sun shining down on her.
“Wha-Where the fuck am I!?” She asked, looking around, trying to figure out what was going on “How the hell did I end up in a dessert?” with a small ‘Ding’ a screen appeared, displaying:
[! Quest info]
[Penalty Quest: Survival]
Goal
[Survive for the allotted amount of time]
[Allotted time: 4 Hours]
[Time left: 3 hours, 59 minutes, 55 seconds]
“Wait, this is the Penalty Zone? I have to survive four hours in the dessert!?” She yelled, standing up and looking at the screen. “Well that’s just great. How could this possible get worse?”
To make matters worse, as Izumi wondered what she was going to do, a giant form began to rise out of the sand, towering of the girl. It was a massive centipede like monster, at least 30 feet in height. It looked down at Izumi, its jaws opening revealing rows of sharp teeth. Above its head was a red coloured label {Poison-Toothed Giant dessert Centipede}
“Me and my big mouth”
As the Centipede lunged for her, Izumi had already taken off running.
[Remaining time: 3 Hours, 58 Minutes, 40 seconds]
Toshinori hated paper work.
As much as he enjoyed his job as the number 1 Hero, paperwork was the bane of his existence. Back when he was a youngster, training to wield One for All, he would never of thought that his second greatest nemesis would be filling in a stack of papers. The number of Villains he defeated on a daily basis probably didn’t help either.
Toshinori sat down on his oversized couch in his oversized, relieved to have finished a hard day’s work, and looking forward to having a day or so off. He tried not to push himself to much these days, ever since his battle five years ago.
He lifted his shirt up, revealing a gruesome mark on his stomach. A parting gift from All for One.
In the days leading up to the battle against the Symbol of Evil, Toshinori had hoped that All for One hadn’t Awakened like he had, or if he had that he was a lower rank than he was. but as fate would have it, All for One had awakened as an S-Rank, as a Mage.
Despite that, All Might managed to put him down in the end, but not before All for One dealt Toshinori his own final blow. A combination of dozens of Quirks and Curse Magic; it tore through his stomach and infected his organs, tearing him apart from the inside out. Had it not been for his friend Badasu Ishsi, he would have died, and One for all along with him. Even now, the Curse Magic had done irreversible damage to one of his lungs, intestines and stomach, but it was manageable.
‘Knock! Knock!’
Toshinori has shaken from his thoughts by the knocking at his door. He raised an eyebrow, wondering who would be at his door this time of night. Toshinori stood up, and walked to the door, picking up his sword as he went. Never can be to carful, even if you are the number 1 Hero.
He slowly opened the door, and he smiled as he recognised who it was.
“Hey big guy! What took you so long?” She asked. Standing in front of him was an athletically built woman with tanned skin and red eyes, and straight white hair that reached down to her waist. She wore a white long-sleeve T-shirt, with her left hand covered with a glove, and blue jeans, with a crescent moon belt buckle. But her most noticeable feature was the pair of long white rabbit ears that sat upon her head.
“Rumi! Good to see you! though I’ve got to say it’s a bit late for dropping in don’t you think?” he asked.
“I know, but I just got finished running an A-Rank Dungeon, and it took forever to clear it. with so many monsters it took the extraction crew 3 hours to get all the monster corpses out” She told him, holding up a plastic bag “I got booze. You interested?”
“As if you would take no as an answer” He sweat dropped.
“Aww, you know me to well”
Toshinori showed Rumi in, leading her to his living room. They each took a seat and grabbed a drink, giving a small “cheer” before drinking.
“So Rumi, anything eventful happen today?” He asked
“Not really. All the monsters in the Dungeon were Beast types, so I didn’t have to much trouble with them. The corpses aren’t that profitable, but with how many we pulled out, we should get a good price for them”
Monster corpses were extremely valuable, especially one’s from A and S-Rank Dungeons. Guilds and Guild Agencies had special divisions made up of lower ranking Hunters to extract the Corpses and Mana Crystals, which they then sold to Support companies they we partnered with. The Support companies would then use the corpses for materials to make weapons, armour and Support items, which were them sold to the Hero-Hunter Auction, which was where Heroes and Hunters could go and look out Gear to help them out in the field. It was even possible for Guilds/Guild-Agencies to make special requests for weapons. Say you killed a Metal Golem, you can them request to have its corpse turned into Armour and Weapons for yourself, and sell whatever you don’t need.
“I doubt there’s a single Beast Monster able to stand up to you Rumi. I was going to say, how is Fuyumi? I suspect you teamed up with her Guild to enter the Dungeon?” He asked.
“She’s doing good. We’ve been thinking off merging our Guilds soon”
“Merging Guilds? How come”
Rumi didn’t answer for a moment, a light blush covering her cheeks “Me and Fuyumi are getting married”
It took a few seconds for that information to process, the gears turning in his head. He jumped up, and brought Rumi into a superpowered bear hug. “HAHAHA! My Rumi is getting married! I can’t believe it!”
“C-can’t can’t breathe” Rumi wheezed.
“Oh right sorry” He put her down, letting her sit back down “I got to say Rumi, I’m happy for you”
“Thanks Toshi. We haven’t set a date yet, cause Fuyumi wants to make sure her mom and little brother can attend” The mood instantly shifted, Rumi’s smile dropping. “But I doubt that pile of flaming dog crap is going to make it easy for us” the glass bottle in her hand shattered, spilling alcohol everywhere. “Sorry Toshi”
“Don’t worry. I’ll get some towels” as Toshinori went to the kitchen, Rumi removed her glove and rolled up her sleeve, revealing a sleek, silver mechanic arm, which extend downwards from her elbow, the remain flesh around it covered in scar tissue.
After the mess was cleaned up, Toshinori took bis seat, looking over to Rumi “Are you okay?”
“To be honest, no. I hate the fact that bastard is allowed to be a Hero after all he’s done. The fact that he’s gotten away with all the pain he’s caused his family. Sometimes I wondered why I don’t kill him myself”
Toshinori knew all about what Enji had been up to. He had forced a poor woman into marriage, all to produce a child that could do want Enji could not. Surpass All Might. It angered Toshinori to his very core. Enji’s eldest had died due to being forced to overuse his Quirk, he had deemed both Fuyumi and Natsuo failures, and had forced is youngest Shoto into training the moment his Quirk manifested. Lucky, when Fuymi and Natsuo Awakened, they had managed to escape Enji, and formed the Raging Blizzard Guild.
“Because your better than that, Rumi. I understand what it’s like to hate someone like that. To want to hurt them so badly because they hurt someone you care about. But can’t go at Endeavour guns blazing. But don’t worry. I have plans for him”
“What kind of plans?”
“He’s the Number 2 Hero of Japan, and the 7th strongest S-Rank. I hate to admit it, but he’s damn good at his job. His number of resolved cases and the number of Gates he closes is nothing to scoff at. Getting rid of him right now is out of the question. And with the hero Commission on his side, building a solid case against him would be next to impossible. But like I said, I have a plan. The Dungeons are dangerous places to be. Even a S-Rank like Endeavour could lose his life. We might not be able to retrieve his body either. Quite tragic. And with his death, Shoto will be sent to live with a relative, and since his mother is in no condition to care for him, He’ll be sent to live with Fuyumi”
“But what about his Ranking. Like you said, the number of villains he takes down is no joke”
“True. That’s one of the reasons I’m teaching at UA this year. I’ll make sure the next generation will be ready to fill the gap Endeavour leaves tenfold.
He pulled Rumi into another hug; this time gentler “He will pay Rumi. I can promise you that”
Rumi wiped away tears that began to run down her cheeks “Thank you Toshi”
[Notice]
[Penalty Quest has been completed]
Just as Izumi was about to be eaten by a giant centipede, Izumi found herself back in her room, as if she never left. Unfortunately, she could slow her momentum, and kept running, right into her bedroom door.
“Oww! Sonova bitch!” Izumi lifted herself up, looking around to confirm that, she was indeed home safe and sound. “I get a Quirk after all these years and the first thing I does is try and kill me?”
[Message]

[Accept] [Decline]
Izumi didn’t have time to choose, as exhaustion overcame her, barley giving her enough time to reach her bed as sleep took her. Hopefully, the System wouldn’t try and murder her this time.
