Jealousy Is A Disease

 “Hi we’re (G)I-DLE.”

Claps erupted through the fan meeting hall as the girls bowed to their fans clambered to see the girls smiling brightly.

The girls sat in their seats as the first rush of Neverlands rushed towards the girls, clutching their new album like a precious gem, after the shocking sales that skyrocketed (G)I-DLE to the tops of their career yet.

And so, the hours blurred into a flash of infinite headbands and countless aegyo requests from their fans, which was instantly declined by Shuhua- leaving the room in loud cackles of laughter.

That was until Soojin recognised one of Miyeon’s exes at the fansign, eyes glistening in wonder and admiration as the girls shared uncertain side looks.

I mean who was Soojin to blame, it was Miyeon. With her ethereal beauty and powerful vocals, she became Korea’s sweetheart and it girl overnight.

Except, she was Soojin’s girlfriend that struck a nerve, as the man talked with her like a fan as she held his hands as a form of fanservice.

Shuhua kicked Soojin under the table to focus on the Nevie in front of her as Soyeon and her manager shared a quizzical look.

The minutes slowed as Soojin gripped her pen in anger, her gaze not moving from Miyeon as she held a conversation with her ex as he blatantly flirted with her with his charming smiles.

Slowly, Miyeon’s ex moved along to the other members begrudgingly and Soojin gritted out a conversation- the urge to use her taekwondo skills on him growing by the second.

“Bye, we’re (G)I-DLE.”

The girls lingered to get their final goodbyes, Miyeon being one of the last to leave as photographers clicked away as the fans yelled goodbyes to all of them.

They were escorted out of the hall and into the dressing room to get changed into their own clothes.

Rushing to get home after their busy day, most of the members were ready to leave and only Miyeon, Minnie and Soojin were remaining as they were slightly behind.

Normally, Soojin being the adoring girlfriend and loving member would wait for Miyeon to get changed and they would leave together. However, blinded by her jealousy she pushed past the members clambering into the car, hearing Miyeon murmuring

“Why didn’t she wait for me?”

The hurt tone in her voice was recognisable and made Soojin freeze in guilt at the older girl’s obliviousness to her ex flirting with her.

Minnie being the patient best friend she was just replied

“Just get changed, we can sort this out soon.”

But soon, wasn’t soon enough as the busy schedules piled on and quickly, it became a week since Soojin distancing herself from Miyeon and her wistful stares.

The remaining members tried to help through the everlasting activities but to no avail, they could only act more cheery on camera to distract anyone from noticing the tension between the couple.

Yet, it was only a few more days before the tension was broken and an uproar began as Yuqi with her adorable pigtails and angry frown marched up to Soojin, yanking her up from her seat and pulling her to a corner.

“Yuqi, what the hell?”

Her frown deepened as she began in a scarily controlled tone

“What do you mean, what the hell? I don’t know what’s been going on between you and Miyeon unnie, but there’s a limit.”

“A limit? What are you on about?”

She’s crying.

Soojin paused in shock, for Miyeon was always strong and willed not to cry in front of the rest of the members as she was the eldest.

Yuqi was rambling in frustration, always protective over her secretly favourite unnie who was cheery and cared for her members dearly despite the constant bullying.

Soojin pushed past Yuqi, her head filled with the need to find Miyeon and beg for forgiveness.

Miyeon was found in the corner of the dressing room, tears streaming down her tanned face as she clutched her phone- the theme song of Tom and Jerry playing comically.

The aromatic smell of sandalwood and home encompassed Soojin as she embraced Miyeon, who hesitantly hugged back, almost nervous that Soojin might run away from her again.

“Why are you crying?”

“Oh, I just read a theory on the internet that Tom actually loved Jerry but pretended to hate him so his owner wouldn’t buy a new cat and Jerry would be eaten.” Miyeon prattles, as she hurries to wipe her tears from Soojin’s curious like eyes.

“You don’t have to lie, I know.”

“You know? Who told you?”

“Yuqi.”

“Oh, why did she say that? You just panicked-”

Miyeon paused as Soojin cupped Miyeon’s bread-like cheeks and rested her forehead against Miyeon’s, staring into the warm teary eyes.

“I’m sorry, we always promised to talk. It’s just your ex was flirting with you and I couldn’t control myself.”

“He wasn’t flirting with me.” Miyeon blurted out, the confusion clearly painted all over her face.

Soojin rolled her eyes, as she remembered this was Miyeon, who was more innocent than a five-year-old to the outside world.

“Baby, he was definitely flirting with you. I mean he was blushing, smiling and simpering like a 13-year-old hormonal teenager.”

Miyeon processed this as she thought back to the fansign, realising he was flirting.

“I’m sorry as well, I didn’t realise that it hurt you.”

“To be fair, you need a little support at times.” Soojin replied, pecking Miyeon’s forehead fondly.

“And to be fair, the Tom and Jerry theory did make me cry more so don’t feel too bad.”

The girls chortled and fell into each other’s embrace as Soyeon complained in the background,

“Maybe we should have let them argue for a bit longer. I enjoyed my peace and quiet.”, while the girls hummed in agreement at the beaming couple.
