Interviewer:"Okay, this is for the McClains. Who is the stupidest?"

Veronica:"Lance."

Everyone laughs as Lance pouts. "I am NOT stupid." "You kinda are buddy." Hunk says, patting his shoulder. "Alright, next question. Shiro, do you miss Adam?" Shiro sighs. "Yes. Everyday. I still have my ring." The audience coos. "How sweet. Next. This one is for Keith. 'Keith, would James be a good daddy?' Well? Would he?" Both boys stare at her blankly before everyone starts laughing. "In what sense?" Keith asks. Another round of laughter. "Cause, like, you gotta be specific. Cause James, James is a great guy. In, every way. He's great with people of all ages. And well, the other way." Keith laughs. "I'd let him fuck me. I have let him. Multiple times, actually. I know he doesn't have a daddy kink. Neither do I. So not in that sense." James smiled and blushes a bit while the other gape at the two of them. "Yal be fucking?" Pidge asks. "I thought you hated each other." Ryan comments. James and Keith laugh. "We have a, um, complicated history." James says. "Care to share?" The interviewer asks. They exchange a look and shrug. "Yeah, why not?" Keith says. "Well, then, we're gonna take a commercial break. We'll be right back." She smiles at the camera, and it cuts out.

When it comes back, the two boys are in barstool like chairs, with some wires attached to their wrists. "What exactly is this?" James asks, poking at it. "It'll let us see your memories as you talk about them. But keep it clean." The boys nod. "Okay. Now, talk to us, and remember the first time you met."

"Well, we met in kindergarten. His dad brought him to school in a firetruck, so that was pretty cool." James says.

An image flickers on the screen. A elementary school, big and red. A firetruck pulling into the dropoff lane, a small kid hopping out. "Damn, Keith had a mullet then too?" Lance jokes. "Shut up." Keith grumbles. "But yeah. We had each other in class every year until 8th grade. By then, everyone had taken to calling me 'emo kid'. James was one of the few that actually talked to me." "Most people were scared of you. I mean, after your dad….. you always looked pissed off. At everything." Keith shrugs. "I kinda was. But this ass wouldn't let me wallow in my misery. Picked me for his teams during PE, chose to be my partner for projects, all that fun stuff."

The screen shows a PE class, with bright red dodgeballs all over the floor. "Adien." A girl says, a boy going to her side. "Nadia." Young James says, the girl going over. "Reece." "Keith." "What are you doing?" Nadia hisses. "Just trust me." James says. They choose the rest of their teams. The line up on opposite sides of the gym, and the whistle blows. They run for the balls, grabbing them and starting to throw. James gets 2 kids, easy. Nadia lands 1, and catches the ball from another. Keith though, is standing off to the side. He catches the occasional ball, but doesn't throw any. Soon, everyone on his team besides James is out. The other team has 5 players, and all the balls. James and Keith share a look and smile. The other team smirks and starts throwing. Both boys catch a ball and immediately throw it back, getting their opponents out. It rolls back to their side and James throws one at the third, getting them out. The second throws a ball at James, hitting him square in the chest. Keith doesn't even react and just runs after the ball, getting that person out, them immediately picking up another and getting the last one. His team cheers, James the loudest of them all.

The interviewer whistled. "Damn boys. You guys are good." Keith smiles. "Yeah. We make a great team. We even had simulations together when we got into the Garrison." "After you stole Shiro's car." James adds. "Yeah, after I stole his car and he got me out of juvie. Anyway, we had a bunch of classes together there too." "He ended up accidentally decking me." James blurts. "It was an accident! You scared me!" Keith complains.

The screen shows James walking up behind Keith silently. "Hey Keith." He says. Keith jumps and spin around, backhanding James in the process. "Aw fuck! Keith!" James says, holding his cheek. "What the hell? That hurt." Keith laughs. "Shit. James I'm sorry." "Whyyyy?" Jams groans, moving his jaw. "Dude that HURT." Keith laughs and his head fall on James's shoulder. "I'm sorry Jamie." James frowns. "I hate it when you call me that." "Come on. You're gonna need ice for that." Keith takes his hand and leads him away.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your dad?" The interviewer asks. James and Keith share a look. "He, uh-he was a firefighter. Every- everyone told him not to go back into that building. But he didn't listen." James takes his hand. "But he was great. Tex was really cool. He was the dad that would get mad at you for not doing your homework, but near the end of the year, would take you out of school early to go to Six Flags." Keith laughs. "Right. Oh your dad hated when he did that."

The screen shows little 4th and 5th grade Keith and James running around the amusement park, a man with them. He has Keith's eyes, and is fairly tall.

"I think that's part of why we were such good friends. Our dads didn't like each other, so naturally, we were drawn to each other." James states. Keith nods. "That explains so much." Everyone laughs at this.

"But for some reason, our teachers thought he did it on purpose, so they decided to make us roommates so we'd get along better. Really, that just made sure we didn't get any work done or sleep." James says. "Yeah. Why so math when we can watch people be idiots on YouTube? Why sleep when you can laugh at how bad someone *cough* Lance *cough* was in the simulator? I mean, we did our work eventually. Most of the time." Keith explains.

"Hold on. You're saying little mr.rule-follower used to break the rules?" Pidge asks. "I don't believe it."

James smiled. "We once filled Shiro's eyeliner with pen ink and switched Adam's hair gel for clear glue, then put marshmallow fluff in their pillows."

Shiro gasps. "That was YOU? It was on my face for a week!" He whines.

The boys laugh. "It's not just about doing it, its about not getting caught." James says with a smirk. "Anyway, we were roomies for about a year before things started getting weird." Keith adds.

"Weird how?" Veronica asks.

"Weird as in two gay guys sharing a dorm room and catching feelings weird." James explains. "It was sooo weird. Both of us were having the 'but he's my best friend, this is gonna make everything weird' panic thing on top of the regular crush problems. Then, the little shit did something and it worked out." James smiles. "I kissed him. He told me after he decked me that I could hit him once to make up for it, so I did. I hit his lips, with my lips, softly. You should've seen his face." "I was 16!" Keith defends.

The screen shows the kiss. James kissed Keith softly, cupping his face gently. He pulls back, blushing and smiling as Keith gapes at him, face bright pink. James covers his face with his hands. Keith blinks a few times then smiles, grabbing James's hands and pulling them away from his face and kissing him. The boys smile at each other.

"Aww!" Some of the others coo. "You DATED? And you never told ME?" Shiro screeches. "What happened after that?" The interviewer asked.

"We did normal couple stuff. Held hands, went on dates. We went stargazing for his birthday." James says. "Dumbass wasn't even looking at the stars." Keith quips. "But the view next to me was better." James says with a smile. "A few months after, Kerberos was declared missing. Keith went ballistic, then kinda shut down. I got really worried. Him and Adam barely ate, and he started skipping classes. Then he decked Iverson and got himself kicked out. He stayed at him and his dad's old house, and I visited him a lot." James explains. "Can we see?" Lance asks. "Well she said to keep it PG. Not everything was." Keith smirked. The others "ooh"ed. "Then the ship came crashing out of the sky. They locked down the entire base. Then, the next morning, they showed footage of someone breaking into the scene. I saw Keith's bike and panicked. I rushed to his place, but he was already gone. Some of the maps inside had locations pinned on them, so I checked those out, finally finding the one with his bike.
