Rich parents and we still hate James's dad
MFES and paladins r at James's house/parent's mansion
Nadia raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Keith sighed. "Have you ever seen James swim? Or do that thing where he smiles underwater?" She shook her head. Keith laughed softly. "When he does that, his beauty- it's ethereal beauty. IT seems unreal. It's- impossible to put into words how it looks. You have to see it." He says. "We'll never see it if he doesn't do it." Lance points out. "James! Come join us." Pidge called. "Give me a minute!" He yelled. He stripped of his shirt and went to the diving board. He turned around and jumped, arching his back so he dove into the water. "Go under. And just watch." Keith whispered before diving under the water.
Ryan took his camera with him, starting to record.
He was right. James did look ethereal. The water gave him a blue tint, and his eyes were closed, a soft smile on his face. His hair floated around him in almost a halo, and his limbs were splayed around him. Slightly bent at the waist, his face was closer to the surface. His silver dog tags glittered, floating a few inches above his bare chest. Keith swam over him as James opened his eyes. His smile grew, teeth adding themselves to it as he gazed lovingly up at the other.
They resurfaced and Ryan felt breathless. James did have an ethereal sort of beauty underwater. "No wonder Keith is always staring at him." Nadia mutters next to him. "Did you get it?" Pidge asks. Ryan nods, showing her the footage. It's just as breathtaking the second time as it was the first.
They hear cars and doors open and close. "James! Who'd you invite over this time?" A female voice asks. "Ally? You're not supposed to be home for a week." James says, climbing out of the pool. "For god's sake, put some clothes on. And bring your friends in. It's much too cold to be swimming, and it's getting dark." Another female voice said. "Mom, it's 75 degrees and 6 o'clock." James says. Then he sighs. "Guys, come inside." He calls. The group climbs out of the pool, grabbing their towels and clothes. James is now wearing Keith's hoodie from earlier, a towel wrapped around his waist. "Guys, meet my mom, dad, and older sister Ally." James says. "Mr. and Mrs. Griffin, good to see you again." Keith says, wrapping his arms around James from behind. "Ally, been a long time." he says. She scoffs. "Yeah, three years. You haven't been getting in any trouble, have you?" Keith gasps. "Me? Trouble? Never." "Guys, meet Nadia, Ina, Ryan, Lance, and Pidge." James says gesturing to them. "Where's your ring?" James's dad asked. He rolled his eyes. "In the safe. I didn't want to wear it while at school. It might've gotten stolen or lost." "Go get it." His dad says. "Alex, it can wait." Mrs. Griffin says, placing a hand on her husband's shoulder. She smiles at the others. "It's so nice to meet you. I assume James has already shown you the guest rooms?" They nod. "Oh yeah. He had to do it a few times though. This place is huge." Pidge says. Ally chuckles. "Yeah. I remember the first time Keith came over, he ended up getting lost." "Hey! We do not talk about that." Keith pouts. James chuckles and kisses his cheek. "Come on. We better shower. Dinner is at 8."
James's dad raised an eyebrow at the "we", but said nothing.
FLASHBACK TO LAST TIME JEITH WAS AT JAMES'S HOUSE
"It's disgusting! We entertained this when he was younger, but now it has to stop." Alexander said. "You're just saying that because you don't like Keith." Ally says. "No, I don't like the crazy notion that my son has that he can run around sleeping with men. It's unnatural." "What's unnatural is that you're so against this. James is happy, Alexander. And being with Keith is what makes him happy. You must accept him for who he is." Erin said. "No. I will be talking to him about this."
At dinner, you could cut the tension with a knife. "Dad, is there something you wanted to tell me?" James asks, tone cold and steely. "Not that I can think of, no." Alexander said, sipping his wine. "Actually, I think there is." Ally says. "You mentioned needing to have a talk with James earlier." Alexander sighs before he stands. "James will you join me in my study?" "Gladly." James spits out. They leave the table and the others exchange weary looks. "Is he going to be okay?" Keith asks Erin. "I think it'd be best if you stayed the night." She says, patting his hand. They eat in silence, hearing muffled shouting through the walls.
When Keith goes back to their room, James is lying in the bed.
"James?" He asks. "He doesn't approve." James mutters. "It's been two years." Keith crawled into bed besides him, pulling him into his chest. "I'm sorry." "There's nothing to be sorry about. He'll accept it someday. Just not today." Keith hummed and kissed James's hair.
PRESENT DAY
Keith smirked and took James's hand, placing a kiss to each one of his knuckles. "Keith." James hissed, face flushing. He smirked, pulling away. "What?" "You know what." James said, placing their hands on the table.
"Keith, can you throw me a fruit?" James asked. "Sure." Keith tossed a bright red apple at him. James caught it effortlessly, then froze. He stared at the fruit in his hand. "Keith, you-you know what this means, right?" Keith smirked and walked over to him. "Yes. Do you want the ring too?" He pulled a small black box out of his pocket, opening it to reveal a silver band with a violet gem. James gasped, hands covering his mouth and dropping the apple. "Keith!" "Well James?" He asked, getting on one knee. "Will you marry me?" James nodded. "Yes. Fuck Keith, yes." Keith smiled brightly and stood. slipping the ring onto James's finger. James cupped his face and brought him in for a kiss which he eagerly returned.
