Football player au

James is a football player, along with Ryan, Hunk, Lance and a few others.
Keith walks into Adam’s house, throwing his bag on the couch. “Adam! Shiro has to work! Can you give me a ride to school?” He yells down the hall. “Goddammit- ugh, fine. Give me a few minutes.” Keith shrugs and goes to the couch, flopping down and pulling out his phone.
He hears footsteps, and waves in their general direction. “That was quicker than normal.” He says. He gets no response. “What’s wrong, cat got- James?” Keith says, sitting up. The other boy stares back at him. “What are you doing here?” James ignores him and goes to the kitchen, pulling out a water bottle from the fridge. “James, what are you doing here?” He asks. “I’m his case worker.” Adam says, walking out. He has jeans and a pink button up. “Arms.” He says, approaching James.
The brunette rolls his eyes and sets the water down, rolling up his shirt sleeves and showing his forearms.
Keith’s eyes widen at the faded scars and fine lines.
“Good. They’re healing well. Now come on,or you guys are gonna be late.” James wordlessly grabs his backpack and his varsity jacket, throwing it over his shoulders. "I call shotgun." Keith says, jumping off the couch.
They all climb into Adam's car, and James leans his head against his window. He stares silently out the window, seeming devoid of all life.
It's so weird. Normally the football player is loud and energetic, always talking or laughing. Now he's silent, and he looks hollow. Like a shell of someone else. When they're 5 blocks away from the school, Adam pulls over in a parking lot. James climbs out and starts to walk the rest of the way.
"Um, can I know what that's about?" Keith asked Adam. "Attorney-client privilege." He says, shaking his head. "Why's he staying with you? Why does he look so empty? Did he do that to himself?" Keith asks, berating Adam with questions. The man sighs. "Look, Keith, not everyone is who they seem. Some people's lives are a lot harder than they make them seem." They pulled up to the dropoff lane. "Now get out." Keith climbs out of the car, hefting his bag on his shoulder. "And Keith, don't tell anyone, okay?" Keith nods and Adam drives off.
