“Kurt, is everything okay?” Mati asked, concerned about him. Kurt shook his head and continued crying. He hadn’t wanted to do it in front of his friends. What was so different about Matilda that let him cry? “It’s okay, let it out. I know losing someone you can love is tough.”

“It is. It’s so much harder than I thought it would be. When I lost my mom, I cried a bit and then moved on, keeping her memory with me. But Finn? He was my big brother, my Superman. I knew that no matter what, he would stand up for me.” He sniffled and finally relaxed. “But, I think we should get to work. It’ll help keep me distracted.”

“You’re right, it will” Mati offered a smile and began typing. “Okay, so we have all of the designers and what days they will be there. We still need the times, what they will be doing, and to convince people to go. The convincing is key, and usually what grabs people’s attention first.” She typed away as Kurt saw a man, probably not too much older than him walk back and forth behind her.

“Hey, Tilly”, the mystery guy said off screen. “I’m going to Callbacks tonight if you want to come with me. Too bad you’re little friend there can’t join. Where did you say he was again?”

“He’s in Ohio. He would be at Vogue with me right now, but he had a family matter to attend to. Instead, I’m stuck with you. Can’t you at least go out and get some fresh air or, I don’t know, try to get signed again or something? Because hanging around the couch all day isn’t gonna make your rockstar dreams come true anytime soon, Leo.” She turned her attention back to Kurt. “Sorry, you’ll have to excuse him.”

“Is that the brother you were talking about?”, Kurt asked. He couldn’t see the man in question, and part of him longed to. Part of him, and he didn’t know why, longed to meet the mysterious man that lived with his work partner.

“That would be him. He’s older than me, and a pain in the ass. If he could find a record label that’ll take him, he wouldn’t be sharing this apartment with me. But alas, that won’t happen anytime soon. Besides, he still has to finish school. One more year and hopefully he’ll be gone.” She sighed and continued typing.

For her, it was nice and stressful having Elliott there with her while she tried to work. He had a 2 hour break until his next class, and it was too early for lunch. Neither one of the siblings had many friends in the city, so they did most things together. He’d moved to New York and started at NYU, while also trying to get a record deal. When Matilda moved to New York, she immediately applied for a job at Vogue. But the time away from each other had damaged their relationship a bit. So Elliott was determined to spend all the time he could with her, because he wanted that strong relationship with his little sister back.

“Am not a pain in the ass”, Elliott said off screen. Although Kurt couldn’t see the man, his voice alone intrigued him. “And even if I was, I’m a fabulous pain.”

“Will you shut up and let me work? If you don’t, I’ll kick you out and you can spend your 2 hour break walking all the way back to NYU.” Matilda’s eyes narrowed as she barked at him. She turned her attention back to Kurt, who was trying to be quiet the whole time. She smiled and broke the silence. “So where were we?”

Kurt snapped out of his dream state and looked down at his notebook. “Oh, ummm...We still need the times, what the designers will be doing, and to convince people to go. I think we should start with times, since we already have the days and designers.” He started to jot some notes down, looking between his notebook and the computer screen.

“Sounds like a good plan to me.” Matilda smiled and started typing notes. The two of them finish around 9pm as Elliot walks back in the apartment.

“You still on call, Shrimp? And I thought I was busy.” Kurt can see Elliott give his little sister a noogie and smile. “Anyways, I’m going to bed. Pack it up soon, because I don’t wanna hear you talk til midnight.”

“Yea, yea. Shrimp is kind of a lousy name for a moose to call me.” Matilda chuckles. “I’ll see you later, Kurt. Have a goodnight.” They both log off and go to sleep themselves.
