Ugly Sweaters
There was a lot that Giyuu was willing to put up with for the sake of love.
He was dating the embodiment of positivity and sunshine who tended to have spontaneous ideas that he seemed to have no trouble sharing with him in the slightest. Normally that was not a problem. He has grown quite fond of Tanjiro for his ability to think up sweet and kind things up on the spot especially when it came to cheering up his friends or needing a distraction.
That was what made things work for them usually.
However sometimes there are some things that take Giyuu so off guard he has no idea what to think of it.
He just wanted to come home, relax, eat some salmon daikon and then cuddle his boyfriend while preparing for a Christmas party at Shinobu and Makomo's place the next day. After dealing with snot nosed brats and idiot parents today this was well deserved.
The gym teacher, famous for his strict teaching style and harsh discipline entered his house and went straight to the couch to just lie down and sigh.
Quietly he picked up his pillow and quietly bumped his head on it since he knew thumping his head against the wall would upset his boyfriend and that was the last thing he wanted to do. Besides he hated when doing that made his forehead bruise. Then there was the fact that Kocho would absolutely notice and probably make a big scene about it.
"Giyuu?"
He grunted with his face in the pillow, "Mmmwha...?"
"Ah, I thought that might be you! Rengoku-san called and said you had a rough day with some of the parents that came in?"
Damn Kyojuro. Why did he have to be so friendly with his boyfriend and practically relay everything to him? All it does is make him worry and the last thing he wanted was for Tanjiro to get worried over things that only get dealt with rarely. He grunted as he rolled on to his back and puts and arm over his eyes. Honestly he didn't want to talk about today anymore and was just ready for the impending stress of the weekend.
"Hmmm...nothing I couldn't handle Anata," he mumbled, yawning softly, "Mmm...what about your day? How was the bakery? Lots of sales?"
"Oh yes!" Tanjiro sounded so happy once he changed the subject, "We sold a lot of Christmas Cakes today for everyone and I even got to sell a tone of gingerbread cookies I experimented with! It was a good day. I'm sorry I couldn't save you a piece but we were sold out before closing time. But I am hoping to have fresh ones by tomorrow to bring to the party!"
Ah yes the party. Why did he agree to go to Kocho's party? Ah right because Makomo was also hosting it and his best friend Sabito would be there with Sanemi. Maybe if he was lucky he could use his friendship with Sabito to make friends with Sanemi. He already got along well with Tanjiro when he introduced him.
"Hmm...should we bring anything else to the party? I'm sure they'll want some snacks, especially Makomo," Giyuu mumbled from where he was.
Just because he wasn't excited as Tanjiro for the party didn't mean he wasn't going to prepare for it. After all he had nothing against Makomo since she tended to be able to get Shinobu to behave when she was around. He sighed as he lowered his arm to stare aimlessly at the ceiling fan that had tinsel on it as it remained still. The sight got a small quirk of his lips into a smile as he looked at it.
No matter how many times this holiday came, Tanjiro always went all out for it. Their home definitely looked like a winter wonderland. Kids would wave at the house seeing the Christmas lights they put up to look like Santa is waving at them, much to Tanjiro's delight.
"Well I was going to make some mochi snowmen! Oh speaking of the party!"
He could hear Tanjiro approaching and when he turned to look at him, the last thing he ever thought would be burned into his retina comes into view.
Tanjiro stepped out in an eye sore of a Christmas sweater. It was made of dark red wool with a sewn in image of what should be a bright green Christmas tree. That was not the worst part however of the abomination in his line of vision. Oh no, the worst part was embedded in this ugly thing was actually, lit Christmas lights.
"So, I found this at a local store that has imports of Christmas stuff from the US and I found these adorable sweaters to wear to the party tomorrow! I even found one for you too see? It's blue and has a reindeer with a red nose that lights up!" Tanjiro holds said sweater up with a bright smile.
Giyuu could feel his very soul exiting it's vessel that is his body. He stared at the terrible sweater in his boyfriend's grasp and then he took in the deepest, slowest breath he could manage. His boyfriend was just trying to be cute, he just wanted to do something fun who was he to put a damper on that? Even though what he saw was ugly as hell and made his eyes sore?
"They're...cute." He managed out.
The way Tanjiro beamed though made him momentarily forget the ugly garments, "Oh I knew you'd like them! I'll make sure to put them out tomorrow morning before we leave for the party! Oh everyone will get such a kick out of these ugly sweaters, heheheheh!"
When Tanjiro left the room with a smile full of sunshine, Giyuu collapsed back and mentally prepared himself. After all knowing the hostesses of the party he was going to be quite the talk at the school come Monday. He released a quiet groan of misery at the thought before he rolled over back on to his stomach.
Well...if it made Tanjiro happy though he couldn't really complain.
