Chapter 1
A/N ~ This is set in the modern world. By that I mean, no quirks.
Never mind, I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
“Don’t forget me, ” I beg
I remember you said
“Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead”

It started out innocent enough. Shinso and you were shopping around, buying groceries for the next week. You left the cart to him while you went to the bathroom. When you got back you found Shinso and a woman chatting. Normally, you weren’t one for jealousy. After all, Shinso and you had been dating for almost four years, and you trusted him. However, this woman was absolutely gorgeous which made you feel more than a bit self conscious.
“Hey, love.” You approached the two, “Who’s this?”
After that day, Shinso started disappearing more often. He also was far more protective over his phone, immediately snatching it away whenever you tried to get a peak. You tried to calm your worries and tell yourself that he was loyal, but the voice in your head was persistent.
One day, you came home from work to find a car you didn’t recognize. You drive a little bit up the street before going back and hiding behind the bushes in front of your house. You didn’t have to wait long before you saw the beautiful woman and your boyfriend exit the house. She said her goodbyes before getting in her car and driving off.
You quickly hid deeper in the bush as the woman drove away. You couldn’t believe it. You didn’t want to believe it. Your heart was pounding and your eyes stung. There had to be a better explanation. You ran back to your car and pulled it into the driveway acting as if you’d just gotten home.
You calmed yourself before you walked in. Surely, it wasn’t what you thought. He would tell you about why the woman was here. He would have a pefectly rational explanation.
You unlocked the door, “Love, I’m home!”
Shinso peeked out of the kitchen, “Hey, welcome back.” His smile held no malicious intent. There was no guilt in his eyes.
You sat at the counter, “So, how was you day?”
He gave you a quick peck on the lips, “It was good. What about yours?”
“It was fine.” you shrugged, “Did you do anything? See anyone?”
He shook his head, “Nope. Haven’t seen anyone all day.”
You nodded slightly, “Oh, are you sure?” You tilted your head slightly.
He went over to the refrigerator and grabbed a bowl of grapes, “Yeah, I’m sure.”
“Hmm…” You popped a grape in your mouth, “Then what about the woman I saw leave the house earlier?”
He stopped and stared at you his eyes wide, “Listen, it’s not-”
“You fucking lied to me Hitoshi. I can’t believe this.”
“Kitten, it’s not what you think.”
“Don’t fucking kitten me!” You were starting to get frustrated, “‘It’s not what you think’ yeah right.
“Y/N, please.”
“Shut it Hitoshi.” You stood from your chair, “I can’t believe you would do this. You absolute piece of shit. You cheated on me.”
He gaped, “Baby, no.”
You scoffed and walked towards the door, “I’m staying at Ochaco’s place.”
“Kitten, please, you have to listen to me.”
You turned to him, “First of all, my name is Y/N. Second, no actually I don’t have to listen to anything you say, because We. Are. Over.” You marched out slamming the door
Over the next few weeks, Shinso kept calling and texting you. Begging for you to let him explain. You tuned it all out. When you realized that your phone had not rang in a while you check the notifications. This was the last message he left:
“She was a party planner. I had run into her at the store when she was shopping for decorations. I has asked her to plan our upcoming anniversary and I wanted it to be a surprise. I was planning to propose. If you don’t even trust me enough to let me explain, even after two weeks, then maybe you’re right. Maybe we should break up. Goodbye Y/N.”
Your eyes started to water. You had fucked up. You tried to dial his number only to get an error message. He blocked me. You started sobbing, this was all your fault.
Three years later
You were sitting at a coffee shop staring at an empty mug, tear tracks on your cheeks. You hadn’t dated anyone since Shinso. You still held onto some false hope. But all that hope had just come crushing down on you moments before.
You had been finishing up your third cup of coffee when a familiar face walked in. Shinso. Your heartbeat sped up. This was it. This was your second chance.
When he saw you, he smiled and walked over, “Hey, Y/N. Strange seeing you here.”
You smiled back, “Hitoshi.”
He gestured to the seat across from you and you shook your head, indicating that it was not taken. He sat, “How have you been?”
“Good, really good.” You sighed slightly, “What about you?”
“I’ve been great.” He sat his chin on his hand and that’s when you noticed it. A shiny gold band. He noticed your surprise and gazed at where you were looking, “Oh, yeah. I’m actually engaged.”
You felt your heart, which was just moments ago soaring with joy, shatter. “Ah, to who?”
“Um, Aki.” He looked at you awkwardly, “The party planner.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.” He chuckled a bit, “I don’t know why I feel so awkward. I mean it’s been almost three years. We’re both obviously well over it.”
You let out a fake laugh, “Obviously. I am actually seeing someone too.” That was a complete lie. You don’t know why you said that.
“Really? That’s great.” He paused before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small sheet of stiff paper. “You should bring him to the wedding.”
“What, me?” You took the paper. It was a wedding invite.
“Yeah. I mean I know it might be a bit weird but.” His tongue darted between his lips, “You were a big part of my life. And it won’t be as weird since you have a date too.”
“Oh yeah. I’ll for sure see if we can make it.”
He smiled, “That’s great.” He looked down at a watch on his wrist. “I gotta go pick up Aki. I’ll see you at the wedding.” He waved as he left.
“See ya.”
Once he was out of sight you felt yourself breakdown. He had moved on. There was no second chance.
