Puppy Love - Denki × Reader (fluff)
"Although you all technically help the community with your work studies, for some reason Nezu has decided to implement community service as a graduation requirement." Aizawa says, tapping a stack of papers on the podium and setting them down to look across the classroom.
"Community service? you mean like work studies without being paid?" Kirishima asks, not bothering to raise his hand.
"No, like legitimate community service. Help at an old person's home, clean up public parks, I don't care. Just have an adult confirm your participation and you're fine." Aizawa says, his regular bored expression covering his face.
"These are some examples of places you can reach out to, but of course you can try other places if you have some in mind." Aizawa hands out the papers and excuses you all to go back to your dorms. You eye the paper carefully, reading over the choices.
"Ugh, this is going to be boring." you say, looking up and seeing Denk Kaminari squatting in front of your desk.
"Jesus!" you shout, jumping and almost falling back on your chair. Denki falls onto his butt laughing as you stand up and pinch the bridge of your nose, annoyed at the boy.
"I was there for like five minutes!" He says still laughing, you snatch the pencil off your desk and chuck it at the boy. He calms himself down and hops back to his feet, smiling at your still pissy expression.
"Why are you like this, you dork." Denki responds with a chuckle and smile.
"I'm awesome, and you know it~" He winks and you roll your eyes.
"Yeah, you're real awesome." You move your hands out infront of you in a thumbs up and look up. You move your hands back and forth before resting them back at your sides and looking back to the boy.
"Are you.. mocking me??" he asks, moving his hand to his chest and exaggerating his words with an offended tone. You snicker and he gives you a pouty frown, walking up to you he throws his arm around your shoulder.
"So where are you gonna volunteer at?" he asks, holding his sheet out in front of you both. You give the sheet in his hand a quick glance, confirming its the exact same as yours before giving your answer.
"I haven't decided yet." You lie, as much as you love spending time with him you know if he's with you while you're supposed to be focused he'll distract you.
You walk into the place you decided to volunteer, an animal shelter. you walk into the back where you see Denki sitting on the table that rests in the middle of the room.
"Oh you have to be kidding me!" you say outloud, by accident, as soon as you saw the lightning bold in the blonde's hair. He turns his head to look at you, surprised to see you as well.
"y/n? what the hell-?!" he says jumping off the table and walking over to you. You sigh and roll your eyes 'Just my luck.' you think as he walks closer.
"why do you have to be here?!" you ask annoyed, he gives you what looks like a genuine frown and scratches his head.
"You didn't want to see me that bad?" he asks, looking to the side and moving his hand to the back of his neck nervously. You feel a pit in your stomach begin forming as you realize what you said.
"n-no-!" you stammer out.
"It's just.. working with you can be a bit distracting.." he looks back to you and smirks.
"I mean I understand, my looks are legendary. its only normal you'd get a bit flustered~" Your cheeks go red and you look away embarrassed. Denki laughs at you making your face burn up even more.
"oh screw off!" you shout, as a woman enters the room behind you.
"You must be y/n and Kaminari, correct?" she asks, hesitantly. You both nod and she smiles, welcoming you both to the shelter and thanking you for coming to help out. The woman explains your job for the day, you would be bathing some of the dogs for today.
You and Denki put on a pair of gloves and walk to the grooming station. The woman walks a dog into the room and walks you through the process, then brings a new dog in and leaves you both to wash him on your own.
"Aw you're so cute!" you say, scratching the dog's ear.
"I know I am~" Denki says. You glare at him and he smirks, you blush again and turn to the dog ignoring Denki.
you pull the shower head off of the wall and aim it towards the dog, turning on the water. The dog gets nervous and after a few seconds of wetting his coat he shakes his body and you jump back, the shower head still in your hand turning towards Denki and soaking him.
"H-hey! what the hell?!" he says looking at you, you apologize profusely and turn the water off.
"My bad, it was an accident!" you say as you put the shower head down and walk up to him. You notice his shirt was white, the wet fabric clinging to his body. You freeze and stare, your face heating up for the third time today, Denki notices you staring and blushes slightly.
"If you wanted to see my abs all you had to do was ask." He pulls off his wet shirt and tosses it to the side, patting over his wet skin with a hand towel. You spin around, getting back on your knees next to the dog, continuing the washing trying not to pay attention to Denki.
Denki begins lathering the shampoo onto the dog's fur as you try your best to ignore him. Suddey you feel something moist hit your cheek and turn back to him, his hand was out in front of him with a few bubbles on top.
"Did you just throw bubbles at me?" You ask wiping the moisture from your face, he chuckles slightly.
"Blew them at you, but same difference." you grab some of the bubbles off of the dog's coat and fling them at him. You don't miss.
"Ew nasty! Dog bubbles, really?!" he asks wiping the bubbles from himself, disgusted. You laugh at him and he walks around the dog to the other side, kneeling down beside you.
"Somebody ought to teach you a lesson.." your cheeks glow red again, but this time you manage to keep your composure. You turn to face him and smirk, pushing him back and kneeling above him.
"Oh yeah? same could be said for you." you say, trying your best to fluster him as payback. Your plan works perfectly and his face goes red, his body tensing up beneath you as he avoids eye contact.
It took you a moment to fully comprehend what you were doing, and as you did you felt a million flags go off in your mind. You buried your anxiety and continued to stare down at the visibly flustered boy. Without thinking you reach in and grab his chin, pulling him into a tender kiss.
Denki doesn't pull away but instead looks at you surprised, he takes a second but kisses back. Sparks were flying, this time not because of the electric user's quirk. You got lost in the kiss, only being brought back by a small shower of water hitting you both. The dog shake off the water and soap, jumping out of the tub to run away.
"The dog!" you shout, hurriedly getting up and sprinting after him, catching him surprisingly easily.
"Thank God.. " you pull him back to the tub and sigh, almost forgetting what just happened for a moment. You turn to look at the boy who is frozen in place, looking as if he short circuited.
"I- was.. you just.. uhm" he begins sputtering out.
"Was that like.. a platonic kiss? a friendship kiss??" he asks confused and still a blushing mess. You stare at him, dumbfounded at his stupidity.
"Do I need to bang you to get it through your head that I like you?!" He blushes even more and shakes his head, trying to get his thoughts into order.
The still shirtless blonde finally processing your words smiles excitedly, his blush still obvious. You roll your eyes and focus in on the dog, being sure to not let him slip away this time.
