what are best friends for
Lisa drags her around the dress shops, even Cristina, Meredith and Izzie are dragged along, even though it's their lunch break. Charlie just smiles and agrees to the dresses that are thrust into her arms. She tries them on to please her mom. "Oh, honey. That one looks gorgeous on you!" She says clasping her hands together.
"So did the other 12," Cristina says under her breath. Meredith elbows her ribs and glares at her.
"I don't know, Mom." Charlie looks at herself in the mirror, staring at the white material wrapped around her body. Lisa's phone rings, she looks at the screen.
"It's Scottie, I'll be back in a second."
"Who's Scottie?" Izzie asks.
"My big brother." She responds absentmindedly, still staring at the dress.
"Okay, screw this. You're not comfortable getting a dress. We're gonna say that there is an emergency at the hospital and you and Alex are going suit shopping tomorrow, okay?" Charlie smiles at her friend and starts taking the dress off. Lisa walks back in and looks at the girls, trying to get the dress off Charlie.
"Everything okay?"
"Emergency at the hospital, we need to go." Meredith lies, adding a wink in Charlie's direction.
"Oh, of course. Let's get this off you."
"You need to go shopping for a tux with Charlie," Cristina tells Alex, as he's checking a patient's chart.
"What?" He asks, clearly not paying attention.
"Mama Beck is trying to get her to wear a dress and she doesn't want to, so as the best man, you are going tux shopping with her."

Alex turns in the mirror in front of him, the blue waistcoat buttoned up. He pulls on the suit jacket,
"What do you think?" He shows it off to her. She's sitting in a chair facing him, clearly bored out of her mind.
"Yeah, that's good."
"Right, your turn." He says to her, stepping off the podium and pulling off the jacket. He hands it to an assistant and pulls up Charlie. "A dress is not what you want, so a tux?"
"I did see one that I liked the look of."
She stands on the podium. Black velvet jacket and matching pants. She feels like a fucking boss.
"Nice." He smiles and crosses his arms. She looks fucking good. "I have never been more attracted to you."
She sticks her middle finger up at him and he smirks.
She buys the suit. Much to the annoyance of her mother who wanted to see her daughter in a beautiful white, wedding dress.
"But why?" Her mom questions her as they stand outside the hospital.
"Because I just don't like wearing dresses, Mom." She wraps her arm around herself.
"But you used to love wearing dresses!"
"Yes mom, when I was 12 and straight and didn't know any better and because you made me wear them." She places her hands on Lisa's shoulders. "Please, Mom. This is my wedding. Let me wear what I want. Addie's wearing a dress, you can go and fret over her, okay?" Charlie smiles and her mom nods her head. "Great, I have to go, but I'll call you when I finish, okay?" She waves goodbye and heads back into the hospital, but stops and turns back to her mom. "What time is your flight tomorrow?"
"9 am. Don't worry about me, I'll get a cab. Worry about saving lives!" Lisa waves goodbye and Charlie takes off in a jog back into the hospital.
"Hi, so don't be mad but I told my mom she could fret over you and your dress," Charlie says to her as they walk down the ICU corridor. Addison turns to her, hand on her hip and a look of annoyance on her face. "You can't be mad at me! You love me! And...she wants to fret because I bought a suit so she's going mad."
"You bought your suit?" Addison smirks at Charlie and lightly bites her lip. "Can I see it?" She takes a step closer to her and bites her lip harder.
She stares at her lips then Charlie loses her train of thought. "What? No, you're not allowed. Not until the day." Charlie smiles smugly. "Her flight is at 9 tomorrow morning but she's getting a cab, so we don't have to worry. I gotta run, it's pizza day and I never miss pizza day." She smiles and jogs off to the cafeteria to grab some food.
Alex slaps his tray down next to her, she freezes, pizza halfway to her mouth. "Boys Bachelor weekend!" He smiles widely. Charlie holds the pizza in her hand, and stares at him, waiting for him to expand. "You, me, George, Mark and Derek; the boys. We come to mine to have a steak and whiskey night then we go to - "
"If the next word out your mouth is 'Strip Club'...I'm hitting you." She takes a bite out of the pizza and sets it down, "Also, I'm not a guy Alex. That's a key feature here."
The rest of the gang join them. "What's Evil Spawn talking about?"
"My 'Bachelor party'."
"But she's not a dude." Cristina points out.
"She's a lesbian, same difference." He waves them off and turns back to Charlie. "Please just think about it. You, me and the boys."
"And who exactly are these boys?" Izzie asks, raising an eyebrow at Alex.
"Well, there's me," He says in a snarky tone. "George."
"What?" He squeaks.
"Don't be a pussy O'Malley, you're joining in on this. And then, Derek and Mark."
"So, so far, you've got you and George and then two guys that you know, only through work and aren't friends with and who both happen to have been involved with my future wife."
"It was the best I could come up with." He huffs and turns back to his meal in front of him. He crosses his arms and stares at his pizza.
"Stop sulking, you big baby. I'll do it." Charlie nudges his shoulder, he smiles widely at her. "But only if there are no strippers involved. No strip clubs and I mean that, Alex." She glares at him, he smiles and nods his head frantically. That was certainly going to be an interesting night.

"As your maid of honour, I'm taking the liberty of planning your bachelorette party!" Callie sits down next to her as she's eating an apple in the Attending's lounge.
"Oh god. The wedding's not for another 3 months, Callie." She breathes out but smiles and listens to her plans carefully.
"I know but Alex already started planning Charlie's and I want it to be amazing! Just trust me!!" She says smiling and walking off, leaving Addison's to finish her apple.
Meredith is in the ER, stitching up a gash on a boy's head.
"I'm inviting you to be a part of Addison's bachelorette party," Callie says, leaning over and inspecting the wound.
"I'm a bit busy right now, can you give me a second." Meredith finishes up the sutures and dresses the wound, then sends the boy on his way. "What did you want?"
"Addison's bachelorette party; You're coming."
"We're not even really friends."
"Meredith, please. She doesn't have many friends here, apart from me and Charlie. You're coming, and so is Cristina and Izzie, they're not allowed to get out of this one." Callie crosses her arm and stares at the intern.
"Fine," She agrees. "Just send me the details and I'll get them involved."Cristina's going to kill her, but she's doing it for Charlie.
She finds Cristina...it doesn't go down well.
"What?!"
"Cristina."
"Mer, I'm not that kind of friend. I don't do that."
"Cristina. Do it for Charlie, please." She stares at Meredith. Charlie is her best friend and you only get married once, hopefully.
"Fine, but I'm gonna be drunk like the whole time."

Time moves on and everything is good until suddenly the wedding's a week away.
Charlie rolls over in bed, Addison's side empty save for the curled up ball of orange that sleeps on her pillow. "Hey, buddy." She rubs his head, as he yawns and pushes his head into her hand. "Where's your mom?" She stretches her arms high above her head,
"Hi." Charlie yawns and leans against the door. Addison sits on the couch, her glasses on her nose as she's scanning the screen on her laptop. She looks up and smiles at the sight of Charlie in the doorway, rubbing her eyes. She's dressed in a sports bra and shorts, letting Addison roam her eyes over the abs that are on display. "Why are you never in bed when I wake up?"
"Last minute adjustments. This wedding has managed to sneak up on me."
"Addie, there's nothing left to plan or adjust or manage. Let's just enjoy ourselves." Charlie smiles and takes the computer from Addison's hands and places it on the coffee table. She settles next to her future wife and smiles at her. "I love you." Charlie leans her head on the back of the sofa. "How did dress shopping go?"
"Needed some alterations so I'm picking it up on Thursday."
"Very exciting." Charlie smiles. She really couldn't wait to get married.
