Behind The Scene

University, a place where most people end up going to at one point in their lives. And here they are, as international students, waking up for their second week of classes at Seoul National University.

We are now on the 29th of August, and it is 8 a.m. when the bell rings, announcing the beginning of a new day as exchange students for our small group.

Last week, the five of them took their first steps into BE:LIFT as interns. And to say that those six days were a rollercoaster of emotions would be an understatement. Mind you, with everything that had happened, the process of actually meeting Enhypen might turn out to have been the least traumatizing event. Indeed, no one would have guessed that a simple internship could have turned into a Wattpad-like K-drama in the midst of a crush at first sight, a break-up, and a hospitalization.

But now it's break time, and they are about to spend a whole week without having to think about work. And to say that they were as excited as ever to find out about their company. Not that they regret anything, but this year already looks like it will be exhausting. Not only their interactions with the members, but their work as interns itself was quite the marathon.

"You won't be doing much during the first semester, had said Mrs. Kim"

Well, if having to stay until midnight to work on the costumes was not doing much, what will the second semester be like...

But once again, now is not the time to worry about that. School is already about to start, and they already had a hard time following the Art-Design and Green Society class two weeks ago because of the unfamiliar Korean words that were used to explain the sustainable development process in design.

However, as the hours pass by, they can't help but let their minds wander as to what spending almost a whole year at BE:LIFT will look like. Between the pretty clothes everywhere and the chance of meeting Seventeen or New Jeans while wandering into the HYBE building, the possibilities are endless.

Of course, Kai is still as heartbroken as Meri is in denial about what happened on Saturday, but thanks to their friends' cheers, smiles can often be seen on their faces.

At night, after all of their assignments have been wrapped up (so at around 11 p.m.), the five of them gather in the living room as they let their delusional minds think about the possibility of all those possibilities being possible as just another possibility that can possibly happen.

"- I already know that Jungwon is head over heels for Nai so just imagining him being all shy and blushy next to her is giving me life, says Kai

- First of all, I'm sure he is not. What is there to like about me? Furthermore, you can always talk, but it was not me that got hugged by Jake for a whole ass twenty minutes, responds the curly-haired

- Okay but Nai, you are gorgeous; what are you talking about? Also, I was heartbroken, and he consoled me. I'm not the type to fall for the guy who wipes my tears, but rather to seek vengeance on the person who broke my heart."

The laughs from his friends, meaning that they do not take him seriously, suddenly remind Kai that they are still kind of strangers to each other. They might have spent almost three weeks together already, but they couldn't possibly know each other's actual personalities, let alone their darkest secrets.

Shaking his head to chase the bad memories, he turns his attention back to the discussion, where Nai has decided to play Sherlock Holmes, the Heart's secretary, or a mix of both.

"I believe that if you guys act as if you hate Jay and Heesung that much, it is because you are actually embarrassed to be in front of them, am I right?"

Her only response is Arya's sigh and Meri's desperate look. No, they are not embarrassed to be next to two men; they just don't understand why they would have to. They have no problem with their friends being all giggly about their interactions with the guys, but this is just too much for them. And if only the thought of having to put even the tiniest bit of hope, trust, and expectation in Heesung is already triggering the Indian, you can imagine how the Finn feels after all the events of the past week.

But anyway, enough of the boys for tonight.

"Since we're on the subject of crushes, I believe the Enha guys aren't the only ones who caught your eye, am I wrong, Ailen? suddenly asks Meri"

The young American's flushed cheeks suffice as an answer for her four friends, who see this as an opportunity to tease their youngest about that one girl in their class. Indeed, it has already been established since about their third day as housemates that all of them were as straight as a circle; the one who got it, got it.

But back to Ailen, who is trying to stammer some words while moving around the room.

"No, but, uh, like you know, she is like REALLY pretty. But like a different pretty than Sunghoon, so, like... you know.

All the laughs grow louder as a serious expression takes over the young woman's face.

"- Moreover, I could never take the first step, be it with her or Sunghoon...

- It's okay, quickly answers Arya, we can still ask for her Instagram for you if you want

- What ? No, I, what?"

Their discussion goes on for a long time before they all realize that it might be time for them to meet Morpheus, as a new day of school awaits them tomorrow. Their adventure has just begun, and the universe (here, me) still has a lot of cards up its sleeve for our five young students, who are now heading to bed, unaware of the future that I am writing for them.

Yes, this chapter is awfully short but I wanted it that way since it is more a transition episode rather than an actual chapter.
