Come home
The break was already a week in, and the Addams mansion was slowly going back to normal after a few days of celebration for the girl's arrival. She was relaxing at her favorite tree, reading, when her phone rang inside her room. She sighed, and patted the tree, which slowly left her at her window. She grabbed it, and was ready to hung up, but when she read the name on the screen, she hesitated. A video call, from Enid. She responded after, for no reason at all, fixing her hair and clothes a bit.
-Why are you calling me?
-Missed you too, Wen-she smiled, but it wasn't right. The goth tensed her jaw. The blonde had been crying, and was currently sheltering from the rain at a bus stop.
-Give me names. They will never see the light of day ever again.
-Please don't-she sniffed -It would be super weird if you killed my mom.
-Just if you make it weird-she stood up, and started pacing, suddenly anxious- What can I do for you?
-Nothing, I just...I needed someone to talk to and... you were the first one that came to my mind.
-Oh. Good-she didn't hide her smile, trying to offer some comfort to her friend even if that meant showing a spark of emotion-Where are you? Lurch will pick you up.
-What?
-You're not feeling well at your house, right? Then, you'll come to mine.
-I can't do that? What about your parents?
-They'll be thrilled. Besides, they will be leaving soon, anniversary trip. They'll be out of town for a few days.
-What about my parents?
-What about them? -she raised an eyebrow -They are nothing but parasites feeding on your mental health. They seem to care about nothing but your wolf side and the expectations they have for you.
-They...they trying to force a mate on me, Wednesday-the girl broke again, sobbing -Mom won't stop saying is the best for the family and dad is just... there. Quiet. He won't step in even if I'm begging for help, he just looks at the floor and waits! And mom, she believes she has the right to do something like that!
-Listen to me, Enid-her blood was boiling -I don’t care if you don't have clothes, or money. Thing is going to buy you tickets for the next plane, and Lurch will get you at the airport. You're coming home right now.
-But...
-No buts. They want to be assholes? So be it. But they won't hurt you anymore if I can help it. And I have many, many methods to stop them.
-No blood-her eyes had a new sparkle, and it comforted the goth.
-No blood-she smirked, thinking of the endless possibilities of not bloody murder, heading towards the door -Don’t hang. I will find both Thing and Lurch right now. And just so you feel at ease, you'll ask permission from my mother directly.
-Thank you.
-Don't thank me-she hesitated for a second -It's the least a friend could do.
______________
Five hours later, Lurch left for the airport, right after driving the Addams back home. Wednesday and Pugsley went upstairs, with two bags full of horrifyingly colorful clothes she knew the werewolf would like. Her parents smiled softly, a knowing look on their faces.
-Oh, cara mia. Have you seen her eyes? She is so excited for her arrival! -Gómez laughed, kissing her wife’s hand.
-Indeed, mon amour. Such a shame we will be leaving soon. I would love to know our daughter-in-law better.
-We'll invite her for the next break! Maybe we could invite her family, too. The ghosts could use a good hunt after all this time.
-Our little viper would love their pained screams, but her little wolf sounds like a more peaceful soul.
-She is not my wolf, mother, father. Don't jump into conclusions-she heard the car, and her eyes darted towards the door, a smile creeping on her face -She is just a friend-she almost ran towards the entrance, trying to ignore the knowing look of her mother. Excited as he was, Gómez followed soon after.
-Holy shit -Enid’s voice came from the outside. Her first closer look at the mansion -Is that tree moving?
-It is-the goth opened the door -Be careful. It gets offended easily.
-Oh. Yeah, sure, totally makes sense-she thanked Lurch, and smiled politely once she was close to them, noticing the whole family waiting for her-Thanks for having me.
-Oh please, you're friends with our little storm cloud, you're family! Welcome, pequeña-Gómez went for a hug, and the blonde responded with the same energy and a light blush.
-We are honored, Enid-Morticia kissed her cheeks, barely touching her.
-Welcome! -Pugsley waited for his mother to step aside, and went for a tight hug, too.
-Come with me. I'll show you your room -Wednesday turned around, and didn't even waited for a response.
-Yeah, eh...thanks again-with a hint of disappointment in her eyes, the girl bowed her head to them before following her upstairs-Your family is so nice!
-Their enthusiasm makes me nauseous. They drowned me with affection for days when I came back. But...I can see why you like them.
-Your house is huge! And so... you. It screams Addams everywhere. Feels like I can actually hear it...breathing.
-Yes, it's haunted. That one is my room-she pointed at a black, closed door-the next one is yours. Please, go ahead. I tried to make it look a little bit more...colorful, for you.
-Aww that's sweet-she opened the door, and her eyes grew wider-Omg, Wends...this is...beautiful.
The window was covered in tiny plastics, forming a flower-like shape. The bed had pink sheets, and a few stuffed animals on top. The doors of the wardrobe were open, showing a good amount of clothes. Finally, there was a big rug covering half the dark wooden floor, with a mix of blues, greens, purples and whites with no specific form or order, just splashes of color everywhere.
-I hope it's of your likening. I’m not familiar with color combinations, and we didn't have much time, but Thing was of great help. That door is your private bathroom. I'll give you some time, we'll be waiting downstairs.
-Wait, Wends! -she got closer, not enough to invade her space-This is...I can't thank you enough! You actually PREPARED a room for me. That's a lot.
-My parents are very interested in you, they wanted me to invite you more often. Given the fact, it's only logical that we have a room that matches your style. I assumed you would like the idea. Knowing you, I think you'll enjoy their...enthusiastic energy. Besides, this is a safe place. Your family won't be able to find you here. Feel free to use it as a hideout whenever you want.
-For real?
-Of course. Please, don't cry.
-Sorry-the girl smiled widely, tears forming in the corner of her eyes -Happy tears, I swear.
-Good-she avoided eye contact -Then...welcome home-she turned around, heading for the door -Don't be late. Dinner will be ready soon.
Her last words made her silent, her plans on asking for a hug dying in her throat. Was the goth blushing when she said that? No, that must have been the reflection of the colorful window. She would never. She opened her arms, falling on the bed with her eyes closed. It was so comfortable, and big! She grabbed the closest plushie she found, a black cat, and hugged it tight, big smile spreading. She had a feeling she was gonna like that place.

Dinner was pure chaos, in a good way. Pugsley tried to bomb his father's chair, Thing throwing the grenade out the window just in time, while Morticia sipped red wine with a soft smile. Wednesday ate silently, looking at Enid from time to time. The blonde was having a blast, laughing and chatting nonstop, planning manicure sessions with the hand and the kid.
-I hope we can see you when we come from our little trip! We'll arrive on full moon; it's been ages since a wolf ran through our woods! -Gómez laughed, patting Enid’s shoulder -You must be a magnificent beast, if you fought a Hyde and lived to tell the story!
-I was lucky, really. The sheriff shot him just in time-she smiled shyly.
-It was your first time, wasn't it? -Morticia took a small bite before continuing-If the transformation doesn't occur during the start of puberty, it has to be triggered by very strong emotions. I can't even imagine the distress you were under, my sweet moon.
-Well I just...-she coughed, looking at her roommate for a second then focusing on her glass of water-the only thing that was on my mind at that moment was saving Wednesday so, I guess the worry triggered it?
-Worry, you say? -the woman smiled -Love sure is a powerful emotion.
-Mother! -she looked at Enid, who was choking on her drink-Every moment of that night was a boost of adrenaline. Wolfing out under that circumstances was a natural reaction.
-She wasn't trying to protect herself, Wednesday. She was trying to protect you.
-Well she does have a point, Wedns-the werewolf tried to control her coughing -I mean, we are besties. Of course I love you!
-...I suppose it could be a plausible theory-she grabbed her own glass -She is, indeed, a quite impressive beast. Big, strong, fast...although the pink fur brings down half the intimidation factor.
-Pink fur! Há! Cara mia, I need to see that!
-Let's hope she stays with us long enough to see it, then.
-Ah, children, have I ever told you your uncle Fester's adventure with a werewolf pack?
-No! What happened? -Pugsley focused on his father, interested.
-Back in the day, when we were visiting our family in Mexico...
