She wakes up but...she's different
L: “Are you serious?”
“When am I not with you?”
Ed: “The Addams aren’t your family!”
“No, they aren’t but they treat me like one, whether I love pop music or whether I can or cannot wolf out, they don’t call me a half-wolf either. Family doesn’t mean being connected by blood, it means the ones you chose to go home to. Wednesday told me, a family referred to a group of people - sometimes known united by the ties of marriage, blood, or adoption, constituting a single household and intersecting with each other in their respective social positions.”
Lu: “You know, you sound more and more like your moon.”
“I’m just quoting from her.”
Ed: “Are you planning on telling mom?”
“No, she plans on expelling me from the pack anyway, if not she will get me a mate who could be our father.”
L: “Alright then. I’ll support you.”
“Leonard…”
Lu: “Me too.”
L: “Edward?”
Ed: “You can’t leave! We’re meant to be twins!”
“But I was never treated as your twin, I doubt anyone knew we are even twins.”
Ed: “You better not forget us.”
“I won’t. Goodbye, Leo, Eddy, Lu.”
Ed & Lu & L: “Goodbye, Enid Addams.”
With that said they turned and left.
Enid Addams…I guess I’m an Addams now.
Soon, it was time to head back before curfew hit, I looked at the sleeping seer, I gave a small sad smile.
“I’ll be back tomorrow, have terrible nightmares my moon.”
With that said I turned and left.
This went on for another two months, as everyone was forced to head home, I stayed in the dorms, visiting Wednesday every day till night.
I started sleeping in her bed in the dorm, I downloaded white noise for cello and even typewriter, the two things that I got used to, now it soothes me to sleep away from the nightmares that surround me.
One the third month, when I walked into the hospital room to do the usual, just as I had sat down, Wednesday suddenly shifted and I turned to her in shock.
“Wednesday?”
Her eyes slowly open, her disapproving glare staring at me.
W: “What monstrosity are you wearing? And who in hell are you?”
“What did you just ask me?”
W: “I do not like repeating myself whoever you are. You must be one of Tanaka’s friends.”
I quickly pressed the button that called for the nurse.
N: “Miss Sinclair, you called?”
“Get me the doctor!”
N: “Quick call for a doctor Miss Addams is awake.”
The nurse shouted out to the other nurse walking by when she saw Wednesday.
“It’s going to be alright, Willia…it has to be.”
W: “Who are you? What happened to the Hyde?”
“I-“
D: “I’m here!”
With the arrival of the doctor, I took my phone out and contacted Morticia and Gomez, about Wednesday not telling them she couldn’t remember me.
I bit my thumb nail as I gave one more longing look at Wednesday’s room before leaving.
Not waiting for the arrival of Morticia and Gomez.
When I got back I quickly arranged everything back to the way Wednesday liked it.
“Thing…”
I called out, and from underneath Wednesday’s bed out came the appendage.
What’s wrong?
“She doesn’t remember me…”
What?
Thing continue to sign out and sometimes tapping in Morse code.
“Can you contact Morticia and Gomez tell them not to tell Wednesday about me?”
Are you sure?
“Yes. I would like to try to get to know her again.”
Alright.
Thing then left me alone in the room, leaving me with my thoughts.
I sat down at my bed, holding my hands in the form of a prayer.I stared out the half-colourful half monochrome window.
Wednesday’s POV
Who was that girl? She felt so familiar yet I have no recollection of her. I might have to check with Tanaka about her.
The nurses shifted me into a sitting position, as much as I told them to refrain from touching me. How utterly disgusting!
Soon, mother and father entered the room hand in hand, with Thing perched on Father’s shoulder.
“Mother, Father. To what do I owe this pleasant visit?”
M: “Darling, how treacherous of you to say that.”
Mother said but clearly, her eyes were glimmering with mischief.
F: “My little Viper! How are you feeling?”
“Adequate.”
F: “After all that sleep, you must be feeling hungry!”
M: “Grandmama, has packed your favourite dishes.”
“I wish to enquire about the girl from before.”
F: “What girl?”
I stabbed the fork into my food before turning back to my parents to answer.
“The one that had three different colours on her head.”
M: “Whoever are you talking about?”
“There was a girl who left a while before you came, do you truly not know or are you playing dumb because that would be below you, Mother.”
I said with spite in my voice. I turn to Thing, expecting an answer. But he wasn’t there on my father’s shoulder anymore.
F: “Get well soon, my little storm cloud.”
M: “We’ll see you tomorrow afternoon, oh, yes, the doctor said you can be discharged in two days' time if you feel no pain at all.”
F: “We’ll leave Thing here with you in case you need something.”
With that said, they turn and left. I continued eating the food they had left me, despising the taste of home cook food.
The rest of the afternoon was trying to remember who that girl was, her colourful nail-coloured fingers, her blonde hair with a touch of blue and pink at both edges and the scars that covered her beaut-normal face.
Enid
Just as I was about to fall asleep, that name crept into my mind, was that the name of the girl?
Perhaps, I am going crazy, this was not what I expected crazy to feel like. I expected it to be less understandable. A feeling that was much more enjoyable, but this was torturous and not in a good way.
The next two days were spent with Thing trying to remember what had happened after Tyler and Marilyn were arrested.
A werewolf protected me, I remembered but who it was I couldn’t remember. At exactly 3 in the afternoon father and mother would come in and shower me with the disgusting thing they called affection.
Unknown: “You really suck at this…cheering people up.”
A memory but who…I kept trying to remember, but the doctor tells me it will come back to me sooner or later, and I for one is not a person who has patience.
Who was in this memory, who was it that cried?
Now, it was time to head back to the dorms, when I got there, there were no students, except for the fangs and some sirens.
I instinctively walked through the halls and back to my dorm room. When I got there, I saw the same exact girl who was there the day I woke up in the hospital.
E: “Howdy, Roomie!”
She said with much enthusiasm. Who was she and why was she in my dorm room?
“Who are you? The last time I saw you, I woke up from my coma, my parents act as though they do not know you. Thing tells me nothing despite swearing his loyalty to me. Either you were someone I once knew and wish to forget or you were someone I took under me.”
I pulled out a dagger from my boot.
E: “C-calm down Wednesday.”
“How do you know my name?”
E: “Okay, how about for starters you put the dagger down. And I’ll tell you what you want to know, well, what I can fill in anyway.”
“Fine.”
I slide the dagger back to where it was before grabbing my chair and taking a sit facing her.
“Speak.”
E: “Geez, you are so straightforward.”
“Who are you?”
E: “I’m Enid.”
“Who were you to me?”
E: “Your roommate and still is.”
“That day when I woke up, what did you call me?”
E: “Wednesday.”
E: “Is that all your questions?”
I wanted to say no.
“Yes.”
E: “Okay then I’m going back to my own things since it is your writing time.”
“How do you know my writing time?”
E: “Wednesday, we are literally roommates.”
I huffed and move towards my typewriter.
Enid’s POV
I was so close to spilling the beans. I wanted to get to know her again not spill everything.
No one but Yoko knew my plan of getting to know Wednesday again. The next few days were trying to get Wednesday to warm up to me.
Soon, a week passed and I tried inviting Wednesday out to town with me since it was the weekend.
“Come on, Wednesday, you need to get out of the room not live in it. Just follow me for clothes shopping and I’ll do whatever you want the next weekend. Please, with the cherry on top.”
I smile with puppy eyes. As she turns to me but I was already moving away.
W: “Sinclair you know I don’t like being disturbed during my writing time.”
I stop in my tracks as I made my way to my closet.
“What did you call me?”
W: “Sinclair.”
I brought my hand to my mouth. Trying to hold in a squeal.
W: “Enid Sinclair…yes…I remember your name now.”
“O.M.G!!!!!! Okay, but you don’t have to force yourself to remember.”
Suddenly Wednesday held a hand to her forehead.
“Why don’t you ask Thing? Wait, you can’t because he's mad at you.”
“Wednesday are you alright?”
W: “You said to me and I quote, Why don’t you ask Thing? Wait, you can’t because he's mad at you. When was this?”
It's the Poe Cup, but why would she remember that?
“What are you talking about?”
Act like you don’t know, ENID! I yelled in my mind as I smile on Wednesday.
W: “Don’t play the part of a fool.”
“Hey, I’m not a fool, and I seriously have no idea what you are talking about. Now come on, we gotta go or else we would miss the bus.”
Faking my expression from being offended.
I grab my jacket hopefully changing the subject as Wednesday goes to her closet, she grabs her jacket and throws it on and just before we step out the door, I walk up to her.
“Here you go!”
W: “What is it exactly?”
“It’s a snood, silly.”
Everything was playing out just like the first time. The only difference.
“It a congratulation gift for being release from the hospital.”
W: “Right.”
“I even made it in your signature colour. The weathers cold so make sure to wear it.”
I grab the snood and place it over Wednesday. I then grab her hands and rushed out without giving her the chance to tear them off.
The surprising part was that she held my hand even until we got onto the bus.
W: “Why am I following you to the bigotry town?”
“To keep me company while Yoko makes out with Divina and Bianca.”
W: “Fine.”
Once we reach Jericho, Wednesday dragged me to the weathervane first.
W: “A quad on ice.”
“I’ll just have a vanilla latte with extra whip cream and syrup.”
Just as Wednesday was about to pay for hers, I immediately tap my card paying for both drinks and walking to the waiting area.
“Its thanks for coming clothes shopping with me.”
Wednesday nods her head but says nothing. I notice a small blush at the tip of her ears. Without thinking I reach out to touch them.
B: “DRINKS FOR ENID!”
The barista called and I immediately retracted my hand and grab both our drinks. Not needing to check if Wednesday was following me because I could sense her walking right behind me.
Right as we reach the door, two of the boys who used to be Lucas Walker’s friends.
F1: “Hey look, its that shorty from last time. What’s a freak like you still doing in town?!”
Taking advantage of Wednesday’s height, I can’t tell if his foolish or simply wants death.
W: “Ah yes, I remember you picked a fight with me and lost the last time. What’s your name again? I can’t remember after your town founder decided to be revive and almost killed every outcast in Nevermore.”
“Wednesday, let’s go. They aren’t worth your time.”
I had to get Wednesday to stop before she killed him.
F2: “Who are you to get in our way?”
The second kid pushes me and I almost spilled our drinks. But before I had the chance to eve fall, the kid was suddenly thrown over Wednesday’s shoulder and punched in the eye.
Wednesday than drop the boy’s arm and walked over to the first one before kneeing him in the face.
With that, she dragged me out the shop and we headed to one of the clothes store.
