It Started with a Hug
“Renjun, let’s go home!” Kyungsoo exclaimed as he tried to pry his brother off a stranger. Apparently, the stranger seemed unfazed by his brother’s moves and was instead egging him on to dance. Kyungsoo noticed the playful smile on the stranger’s lips and turned to look at his drunk brother.
“Renjun, I swear you’ll regret this,” Kyungsoo said as he retrieved his phone from his pocket and turned on its camera. He directed the camera to his still-dancing brother who was even holding and waving around a lightstick. The stranger seemed to be amused with Kyungsoo taking a video and proceeded to dance with his brother.
“Jeno!” a voice called out from behind Kyungsoo, which made the stranger stop dancing and look behind Kyungsoo.
“Oh, Kai, you’re finally here,” the guy who turned out to be someone named Jeno said to the person approaching behind Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo watched as Jeno steadied Renjun and whispered something to him. Renjun giggled like a kid to whatever Jeno had said and nodded. Jeno handed something to Renjun, which looked like a business card and walked his way towards the person who called him.
Kyungsoo immediately walked to his brother and pulled him away from the dance floor.
“Soo, I still wanna dance,” Renjun complained.
“You can dance at home, I won’t stop you,” Kyungsoo promised. “Plus, Mom and Dad won’t be home until tomorrow so you can do whatever you like.”
Renjun looked at him with wide, imploring eyes. “Really?”
Kyungsoo softened at his brother’s expression. He knows his brother is frustrated because their parents do not want him to pursue dance as a career. Which is why they ended up in a club tonight. Kyungsoo wanted his brother to let loose before their parents finally controlled him, just like they did with Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo had wanted to be a singer which their parents opposed, so he ended up taking a business major. And by next week, his brother will start college to take up a business major as well. “Yes, so let’s go.”
But before Kyungsoo and Renjun could even make their way to the exit, a man bumped into Kyungsoo. But what got Kyungsoo even more off guard is the fact that, the next thing he knows, he was being hugged by someone.
“Don’t push me away, Mr. Do,” said the man who was hugging him.
“M-Mr. Kim?” Kyungsoo would recognize that voice anywhere. Afterall, he deals with it almost every single day of his life at work.
“Where’s Kai?” a woman suddenly exclaimed in the background, pushing people away. “Jeno, you’ve got to tell me where he is!”
Out of the corner of his eye, Kyungsoo noticed the stranger who was dancing with Renjun a while ago. And he was pointing towards his direction.
“There’s Kai,” Jeno shouted above the noise. “Don’t bother him and his boyfriend.”
Kyungsoo gaped. And Mr. Kim hugged him even tighter. “I’m sorry to put you in this mess,” the latter whispered. “But help me out just this once, please, Mr. Do?”
As always, Kyungsoo could not say no to his boss.
