The skatergirl

Athena's pov:

I let my car roll into the school's parkinglot. School. The one place I have a love hate relationship with. I love the part where I get to learn all these amazing new things, but I hate that there's people around. They tend to expect me to socialize and party with them. I really, really couldn't care less. I leaned against my car and waited for my best friends.

Thank the gods they were on time today. A motorcycle with two people rolled into the parking lot as well and parked right next to me. A girl in a black leather jacket and some skinny jeans put the keys into the her pocket. The other girl behind her, wearing a black bomber jacket and some black skinny jeans hopped off the bike as well.

"Wauw Artemis. You actually managed to make it on time this morning." I remark.

As she takes off her helmet her silver eyes shine with the light of mischief.

"Wasn't held up this morning." She said as she took the hand of the girl that had been on the back of her motorcycle.

The girl brushed her flame colored hair from her face.

"Only because I let you off easy." She smirked and kissed Artemis' cheek.

Her name was Hestia. She's the nicest girl I've ever met and yet because she's been dating Artemis she's become quite the badass.

"Please spare me the smooch. Dad and his new girlfriend already served me that platter." I shake my head at them with a smile.

"Another one?" Artemis asks.

"Another one." I acknowledge.

We make our way inside and towards the first classroom. I make a stop by my locker though. As I put in the books I don't need Artemis gives me a little push.

"Other side of the hallway." She whispers.

Discretely I let my eyes wander in the direction Artemis gave me. I swallow when I notice what she means. Or rather... Who. I abruptly look straight forward into my locker again. Next to me I hear Artemis chuckle. Hestia slaps the back of her head.

"You're such a douche." She scolds her girlfriend.

"I can't help it she has the hots for the cliché skater girl." Artemis raised her shoulders.

"But you can leave it alone and not bother her with it?" Hestia retorted.

It shut her up, but she wasn't about to let it go. I knew Artemis well enough for that. I ignored their chatter for the rest of our walk to class.

-later that day-

Last class of the day. Biology. Interesting class. Not my favorite, but also not the worst. However today it truly was the worst. Next to me sat cliché skater girl. Also known as Nike. The girl I may or may not have been slightly crushing on since junior year.

Imagine a skater girl. Super hot, always hanging out with the guys and showing them how it's done. You have the picture? Now make it your dream girl as well. That picture complete too? Now make it 10 times hotter and you have a good idea of what Nike looks like and what she would act like.

I hated that I liked her. Not because she's a girl of course. Hell, I love women. But I don't want to like her in particular. It's nothing personal. I just don't want to be part of that stupid cliché you know? Where the cute nerd gets the popular skater girl?

Naturally that did not work out as planned. Our teacher just had to pair us up. It's like it was a bad plot to some cheesy story.

"You free after school?" Nike whispered to me.

At first I was surprised she'd even talk to me. Then I got my sh*t together and actually replied.

"Urm. Yeah. I think so."

"Cool. Think we can get the project done in one afternoon?" She continued.

"Maybe. Not sure. Might take two if we want to do it properly." I say, going over the assignment in my head.

"Can you put a grade on it?"

"One afternoon? Probably a B. Two afternoons? A+."

"Really? You can get us an A+?" Nike said, almost too excited.

"Uh... We can get us an A+. But yeah, if we take our time for it."

Nike nodded at me.

"Parkinglot after school?" She asked.

"Uh yeah. Sure." I reply.

Did I just arrange for my crush to make an assignment with me? This afternoon? And another afternoon? And I'd totally have her for myself that afternoon? The bell rang and interrupted my thoughts. Before I knew it Nike bolted out the door, skateboard already in her hand.

I met up with Hestia and Artemis again. We passed our lockers and went outside to the parkinglot. I saw Nike and some other skaters do a couple tricks there. The usual.

"Athena!" Artemis poked my side.

"What?" I ask, annoyed that she interrupted my gawking.

"And then you wonder why I make fun of her. She makes it too damn easy." Artemis turned to Hestia, shaking her head.

The latter couldn't resist a chuckle and shook her head.

"Even I have to admit she's right." Hestia winked at me.

"You're both unbearable." Artemis sighed, putting on her helmet.

"We try." I smirk as Hestia and I share a look.

"We'll see you on Monday okay?" Hestia says, giving me a hug.

"Preferably. Now that I know you can actually make it on time please do so on Monday?" I chuckle.

"Damnit, she's already getting used to it." Artemis shook her head.

I will bet you 20 dollars she's rolling her eyes behind those blue tinted goggles of hers. A couple of minutes later both of them ride off.

Before I can even think of turning around and driving home myself Nike calls me over. Yes, you heard me correctly. Nike, the most adored person in the entire school and my long time crush, called me over.

So I did what everyone would've done in my position. Have a huge wave of anxiety wash over me and forgetting that people are expecting me to come over so I completely make a fool out of myself because I don't react to a dozen of waves. When I finally regain control over my body I somehow find the courage to walk over to Nike and her friends.

"Hi." She smirks.

....

I think my mind just exploded. That was litterly the hottest thing I've ever seen... Please, do it again.

"Guys. This is Athena. She's in my biology class."

OMG YES!!! SHE SMIRKED AGAIN!!! Okay, focus Athena. Losing yourself here for a moment. I clear my troath and give a slight nod, not really capable of words at the moment.

I kinda just stand there. A couple of books in my arms. My backpack carelessly slung over my shoulder. They all look at me with a searching look. As if they're determining if I'm worth Nike's attention.

"Pleasure to meet you Athena. I'm Jason." A blond haired guy says.

He offers me a hand and I take it.

"I'm Kyle." A second guy with ginger hair adds.

"And I'm Rodrigo." A third Latino guy smiles.

"Nice to meet you guys." I say, having found my voice again.

"Likewise." Jason responds.

Is it weird that I thought they'd be total douchebags? Don't judge a book by it's cover, I know. But still. Is it weird?

"So Nike told us you're her ride today?" Rodrigo asked.

Did she? I glance at Nike who just winks. Okay, I thought the smirk was hot. It's clear I never saw her wink at me before.

"Did she now?" I ask.

"I did." Nike spoke up, kicking up her board and catching it.

"What do you ride?" Kyle questioned.

I pointed at my car on the other side of the parking lot.

"No way... You drive an Aston Martin?! To a high school?!" He gawks.

"Yeah. Not my choice though. I'd rather had something a little less fancy. Like an Audi or a BMW or something like that. But dad picked this one for me so, I'm kinda stuck with it now." I say a little awkward.

"So you're telling me you don't like the car?" Jason asked.

"Oh no, I love the car itself. It's great. I just hate what it stands for." I reply.

"What does it stand for then?" Nike wonders.

"It stands for a rich father who wants to pay his daughter into his life. It stands for a father who wants to pay for his daughter's love for both himself and his countless girlfriends." I explain.

"Ai. That's rough." Rodrigo cringed.

"Tell me about it." I mumble.

"We can always switch keys." Kyle winked as he flashed the keys of a BMW.

I can't resist a chuckle.

"I don't think my dad will be happy if he no longer sees that particular Aston Martin on the drive way." I respond.

"Show off." Jason winked.

"If we can't switch, can I at least know what it feels like to sit in it?" Kyle asked.

"Nope, because she's my ride. I'll tell you how it feels on Monday." Nike smirked, taking my hand and pulling me towards my car.

Behind me I hear Jason and Rodrigo laugh and a loud 'Oh come on!' from Kyle. I shake my head as sparks from Nike's touch lead all the way up my arm. What the hell is she doing to me?

After the drive home we end up at my place. I take Nike inside with me, where she gawks all around.

"Like what you see?" I ask with the ounce of confidence I found.

"To say the least." She mumbled in response.

"Dad, I'm home!" I yell out into the house.

"Kitchen!" Is the response I get.

I gesture for Nike to follow as we walk into the kitchen. My dad and his girlfriend Hera are sitting at the island. They're both having coffee and my dad is reading the newspaper on his tablet.
They both look up when they hear us enter.

"Hi honey." Dad smiles.

He gives Nike a nod which she returns.

"Hi." I say, dropping my bag and walking up to a cabinet to grab a glass.

"Hera." I acknowledge her.

"Athena." She replies in the same non caring tone I used.

"I didn't know you were bringing anyone." Dad points out Nike's precense.

"Me neither. Last minute plan." I explain.

"Project?" He asks.

"Project." I reply.

Without any further words I hand Nike a glass of water she didn't ask for. I take the one I filled for myself, grab my bag and start heading towards the stairs.

"We'll be in my room." Is all I say before disappearing upstairs with Nike.

When I close the door behind me Nike places her glass on my desk.

"What was that for?" She points at it.

"So we don't have to be downstairs anytime soon." I reply, putting my glass down as well.

"Because you want to work that hard or because your avoiding your dad." Nike asks.

"Does it make it better when I say it's the first one?" I reply sarcastically.

"Depends on if you mean it." She smirks.

A while later we are completely settled and working on our project. Talking with her somehow comes so easy.

"So how do you do this again?" Nike questions, pencil in her mouth.

"Really? I already told you three times." I exclaim.

"I'm a skater, not a biologist." She rolls her eyes.

I chuckle.

"Well there is four types of blood groups. Right?"

Nike nods.

"Name them please."

"AB. A. B. O." She responds.

"Exactly. What are all the possible combinations for A?"

"AA and AO."

"Correct. For B?"

"BB and BO?."

"Good. AB and O?"

"AB and OO."

"Yes. Excellent." I praise her.

Nike gives me a confident smirk.

"Now if the mother has bloodtype A with the combination AO and the father had bloodtype BO. What are the possibilities of bloodtypes for their child?" I ask.

"AB and OO?" She responds.

"Correct. See it's not that hard." I wink.

"It's only because I have someone explaining it properly now and as many times as I need." She says honestly.

"Sometimes we just need time to learn. Teachers don't always understand that." I smile.

"But you do." Nike says barely above a whisper, locking our eyes.

I don't know how, but it feels like I'm in a trance. I can't look away from the hazel colored eyes. They're truly captivating.

Without wanting to I can feel myself lean forward. Nike catches on fast enough and meets me half way. When our lips touched I swear my world exploded into a whole new rainbow of colors. As if I experienced everything ten times more intense than before.

"How many afternoons was this going to take again?" Nike asked after she pulled away.

"Uh... As many as it takes." I reply.

"Good. Cause I'm thinking at least five." She smirked.

"Yeah. At the very least." I respond with the same smirk.

A moment later our lips locked again.
