Dangerously Yours

There were many Addams family mysteries, each more complex than the next, but Thing stayed most confusing.

Tell her the truth?

Anger boiled in her stomach at the obscene idea of telling Enid the truth. She scoffs at the mere idea, let alone the action and subsequent fall out it would inevitably do.

"Tell her the truth?"

Thing didn't respond, didn't dare move an inch as she stood and strode back and forth in tight circles as irritation boiled her stomach.

"Tell her the truth? So that- so that she will watch the stars through tears?"

An Addams love was nothing to be poked at. It was all consuming, could be draining, could be impossible to recover from, and that's even if the object of affection agreed to the courting.

Wednesday knew what a struggle it was for a wolf to find love, that they mated for life, and loved without reason. Enid was a people pleaser at heart, she would agree to ease Wednesday's heart, but would it be her choice?

No, I can't risk her giving a part of herself away like that, especially if she doesn't want to.

"Instead of following the… one cold star that is her destiny?"

Destiny, what bitterness it caused. To see Enid leave ready for a date with that half brain gorgon, asking for her approval before exiting, totally unaware of the hole punched through her chest to choke her heart she'd long hoped to have chained silent.

Apparently not.

What right would she have to tear and pull this future away by simply admitting to her roommate how she truly felt? None at all.

"No… no, Thing. I cannot. Let her think…"

There's blood rushing through her ears, loud, foolish, strong.

"I never loved her."

She exits to the balcony, her chello on her mind as Thing silently shook with anger at the pure incompetence of his master. How she was so smart, and yet entirely unaware of the situation she had found herself in. Thing had seen Addamses curl up and die from a lost love unresolved, in situations much more dire than this one. Sure she was young, but Wednesday had done exactly what her father had tripped into: fallen in love, at Nevermore.

Wednesday wouldn't know that Enid was just as smitten, had gone to see Ajax so they could talk about his budding relationship with Xavier, and she could complain about Wednesday, about her friends Yoko and Divina dancing around each other, but how she didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to mocking them.

"I've mated to someone who doesn't even like people," she would say, "let alone girls!"

Sometimes, Thing hated being the only one with a brain and no mouth to express his thoughts with. He decided that when Enid returned, he would do all he could to shake sense into her, or maybe knock their heads together.

Threat of the draw be damned.
