Chapter 1
Beatrice POV
It all began on a Saturday afternoon, Beatrice was on her usual walking around Central Park.
It was the midlle of January and snow covered almost everything. A shiver went from her head to her toes so she decided to stop by her favorite coffee place to grab their famous cinnamon hot chocolate.
Making her way in and straight to her usual spot she didn't even see the new girl behind the counter until she reached her table to grab her order.
When Beatrice lifted her eyes she was greeted by the most bright and overwhelming smile she ever saw. Brown short hair, perky hazelnut eyes and pink smooth lips.
Beatrice felt like it was Christmas.
“Hi, I'm Ava, can I bring you anything?”
All of a sudden Beatrice forgot how to talk, she had to focus really hard to form a sentence.
“Hi chocolate, can i have an Ava?”
Nope, wrong one.
She quickly adjusted herself in her seat, feeling the redness spreading all over her face.
“ Ahem, sorry I meant :Hi Ava can I have a cup of hot chocolate? With extra cinnamon please.”
Ava smiled and quickly scribbled Beatrice's order on her pad.
“Of course, I will be right back with your chocolate”
Beatrice whatched as the girl reached the counter, making herself busy with her order.
Since when she was young, she was used to control her emotions, staying focused and in touch with the reality. Her parents always said to her that feelings makes you blind and vulnerable, so she grew used to it.
Of course she had a few crushes all over highschool and even at college, but she always stayed far from any interactions that would caused her any trouble.
Now she works as an archivist in a pretty big library, a job when it's easy to be alone and surrounded by documents and books, who certainly never threated her coldness.
She lives in a small apartment near her work place, two floors down from her collegue and best friend Camila.
They met in college when they both attended the History class, both of them obviously sitting in the front row.
Thinking back at it now, Beatrice felt very lucky she wasn't alone throughout college.
Her thought were interrupted by her cup of coffee gently placed in front of her,
“ Here's your cup of hot chocolate, with extra cinnamon as you asked.”
“Thank you so much, and I apology for earlier, it was just a long day at work”
Beatrice lied trying to justify her lapsus from their first interaction.
“ Don't worry, you're very cute when you're trying to function” Ava said, with an evil grin on her face, and just after that she went back to her activities, serving other costumers and making coffees just like nothing.
-I'm screwed,- Beatrice thought.
