Chapter 11

Location: Hyperion
Squads 7 (Kaine, Mei and Bronya) and 13 (Kiana, Fu Hua and Ana) are leaving the Mission Briefing room in the Hyperion
They've gotten a mission to clear out honkai beasts in once bustling city of Ulan-Ude
During the briefing the map of the city was highlighted in green, yellow orange and red
Red indicating extremely high levels of honkai energy radiation and a high potential for an emperor class honkai beast to spawn
Orange indicating very high levels of honkai energy radiation and a low probability for an emperor class honkai beast to spawn
Yellow indicating medium levels of honkai energy radiation and no chance for an emperor class honkai beast to spawn
Green indicating normal levels of honkai energy radiation that normal people can live in
As expected the map was mostly covered by yellow and orange with red closer to the center of the city and basically no green
The deployment plan was for Himeko and Theresa to go and deal with the red space while Kiana, Fu Hua and Ana (who have the most experience with honkai besides Himeko and Theresa) handle the orange zones
Which leaves Kaine, Bronya and Mei to clear out the yellow zones
“So how are we going to handle this?” Ana asks her squadmates, “it's not like we can leave before the most of the orange areas are at the very least reduced to yellow”
“Technically, we can” Hua counters “our job, for all intents and purposes, is to reduce the amount of Honkai in the areas that we've been assigned”
“So just clear out as much as we can within our assigned time period and pass it on to the next batch of valks?” Ana asks for confirmation
Hua and Kiana Nod
“Either way” the barrett wearing girl sighs “what's the plan of action for us? It's not ideal to just charge in and hope for the best”
-We could split up- Kiana suggests
“No” only for it to be shot down by Hua and Ana
-its not like we need to be that far away from one another- she signs with a pout -far enough that we’re clearing the Honkai out quickly but close enough to be able to get help from the other two if things get spicy-
And how do you plan on calling for help if you're in trouble? You said that you're going to keep to the bet even on the mission” Hua says with pursed lips

Kiana beeps out using the morse comm on their communicator surprising the both of them
Then again, Kiana, being the prodigy in languages, knowing morse isn't all that surprising. It's simply that morse is simply a niche even Valkyrie standards
While all D-rank Valkyries on communications are required to know it but the chances that it is used is basically non existent
Something that should be noted about Kiana is that while she has amazing Luck in games where RNG is involved like Gacha rolls for in game characters and weapons along with statistically improbable stat and substat rolls for gear
It is counterbalanced by the fact that she has horrible luck outside of the games
So it shouldn't be a surprise that within minutes after she split off with Ana and Hua to clear out the areas more efficiently an emperor class honkai beast, a Privati specifically, spawns IN HER AREA
And of course it had to spawn in the direction where she would have to run in order to regroup with Hua and Ana, the only good thing about this situation is that the Privati itself is on the smaller side
Having no other choice Kiana runs the other way, the only course of action she can take, currently, is to inform Hua and Ana of her current situation and try to out maneuver the Honkai Beast

‘Message sent’ Kiana thinks to herself as she continues running with the Privati hot on her tail, she makes a turn hoping to go around some buildings to reach her squadmates only for her to run into a dead end
Looking back she can see that the Privati has the only path out blocked and from the looks of it Hua and Ana haven't reached her yet meaning she's on her own
Technically, there is a way out, but it's stupid and way more risky than a way out has to be
The way out in question involves her having to scale the building behind her to reach a height that will allow her to leap over the Privati and slide on its smooth back to get behind it and give her a path out

Another quick message to her squad mates to see how far out they are
“Kiana, I need another 2 minutes” “I'm a bit further Kia, I need 5”
‘No choice then’ Kiana grimaces at the thought
She takes a deep breath and starts scaling the building and makes it to the desired height, heck even the leap went almost perfectly
What didn't go as planned was the Privati itself as it, in a moment of intelligence, takes a couple of steps back, lifts its head up and opens its mouth
Where Kiana would otherwise land on its back and slide down behind it, now she will land directly in its mouth and slide down straight into its stomach
The moment that her back touched its “tongue”, extreme amounts of Honkai energy got pumped into her being causing her excruciating pain which in turn made her let out a bloodcurdling scream
Beneath the surface, something cracked due to the sudden influx of ungodly amounts of Honkai energy
