Chapter 7

Location: Dorm house
“So, what are we doing again?” Kaine asks as they were having breakfast.
“we are going to HOMU LAND!” Theresa says excitedly
“Well, all of us were supposed to go but Kiana and Fu Hua aren’t coming, according to Fu Hua they will be busy today, although she didn’t say with what, it’s safe to assume that it’s about their tutoring sessions” Himeko elaborates on Theresa’s excited statement.
“Eeehh!, but we’re all supposed to go together” Theresa complains, before sighing, ”but, if it is so that Kiana can improve her grades then I guess it’s fine if they don’t come with us.” Theresa finishes with a pout, after all she wanted to have her very much stubborn niece to interact with her son.
HImeko on the other hand looks at Theresa like she’s planning something, “so you mean to tell me that, nowhere in your mind were you thinking of getting Kiana to lose her bet with Bronya?” Himeko asking this question got the attention of both Mei and Bronya
Theresa for her part just blinked, “oh… I hadn’t thought about that” now feeling some regret for trying to get her niece to go to the amusement park
“Nyet, Idiotka will not lose due to involuntary screaming, Just like she would not lose through the use of sign language, and the Bronya refuses to accept victory through an involuntary reaction from the idiotka.” Bronya states with her usual deadpan, which elevated a little of the guilt Theresa felt.
“Even then, I doubt that they would voluntarily come with us with how she’s been avoiding almost all forms of contact with us.” Mei says with an annoyed sigh, the tone of Mei’s voice when she said that statement caught Kaine’s attention
“So we’re leaving at noon?” Kaine cuts in in an attempt to stop the conversation from derailing further.
“Yep, we’ll be leaving at noon.” Theresa confirms.
The breakfast was finished in silence afterwards.
‘If she would just apologize then we can just move on from this”, Mei thought with a frown
‘Have you thought that maybe, just maybe you and the brat are just as much in the wrong, coward?’,The Herrscher of Thunder’s “voice” resonated within Mei’s head, ‘I expected more maturity from you.’ she continues with a shake of her head.
‘The things said by both Bronya and myself aren’t things that would affect her, now shut up’, Mei replies to the Herrscher surprisingly aggressively
Within her head the Herrscher persona frowns at what her host just said, ‘You say as though you have the right to decide that for her’ she thinks to herself, ‘she gave you the world and you choose to let it burn. This is why you are a coward, you run away every chance you get, had you actually bothered to ‘see’ with the fucking eyes you were born with you would be able see just how hurt she was from hearing what you idiots said to her. It’s such a shame that with how things are going, neither of you will realize just how badly you fucked up until its too late. Well whatever, it’s not like it affects my interactions with her’ The Herrscher finishes her thought and chooses to ‘sink’ deeper into her host’s mind.

Location: HOMU LAND
HOMU LAND is an amusement park with rides like Rollercoasters, the Ferris Wheel, the Drop Tower, Bumper Cars, Bumper Boats, etc. Attractions like the Haunted House and the Fun House and a variety of food and game stalls, of course all of them are HOMU themed. Although there are occasional children that complain about “Neko-chan” not being there.
“Neko-chan” being the only well known HOMU IP that’s extremely popular amongst kids more so than the main cast of HOMU themselves. “Neko-chan” is only known nowadays as a half-mecha cat girl with a bubbly personality, it is rumored that she is white-haired but Dawei, the owner of HOMU, will neither confirm nor deny the rumor.
“Bleh”
Kaine is currently bent over a HOMU trash can vomiting his guts out after they got off of their second rollercoaster ride.
Bronya and Himeko have gone to see if there’s anywhere in the admittedly massive amusement park that they could get Kaine some medication for his stomach
Mei was rubbing the boy’s back while the boy groaned before puking again.
“I don’t understand this at all, sweetie, how are you fully capable of handling Susannah’s flying but not a few rollercoasters rides?” Theresa asks her son with confusion evident in her voice. “Susannah’s flying is a hundred times worse than those rollercoasters.”
“Urgh”
“Do you still feel like vomiting?” Mei asks him gently.
Kaine shakes his head no, which prompts Mei and Theresa to guide him to the nearby bench.
“I’ll go fetch some water for him,” Theresa says before she runs off.
“Urgh, bleh, i’m never getting on a rollercoaster again, ugh” Kaine groans out
“I have to ask, is this Susannah’s flying that bad?”, Mei asks curious, “because if her flying is bad as principal Theresa says you should be able to handle those rollercoasters.”
Kaine, still a little green, shakes his head no, “her flying isn’t as bad as mom’s making it out to be at least, not anymore it isn’t, she’s more than likely gotten a lot better since the last time mom flew with her.”
“Hey, Mei?” Kaine starts, and Mei hums in acknowledgement, “can i ask you a question?... that you don’t have to answer”
“My least favorite kind of question””go ahead, but depending on what the question is don’t expect me to answer”
Kaine nods in understanding
“What happened between you, Kiana and Bronya?, i mean whenever mom talked about you she would go on about how close the three of you are and from what i’ve seen you and Bronya are close but Kiana isn’t close to either of you”
Mei blinked as a frown was starting to form on her lips before asking,“Why do you want to know?”
Kaine scratches the back of his head before answering ,“Errm…, well.., she's the only one that I haven't interacted with since moving in and i asked around about her but what everyones told me about what she's like doesn't match up at all about what I've seen so far,” he says nervously before sighing and continuing “and it's not like I can just walk up to her and talk to her when she avoids me like I’m a plague”
“she’s… avoiding you?”, Mei asks surprised
“you didn’t know?”, he asks in astonishment, sure Kiana’s avoiding him but he figures that she would still be spending time with her best friends, unless, of course, he was wrong about them being best friends.
“No, I didn’t”, Mei admits, ”Bronya and I, we had a big fight with her, she said some very hurtful things to both of us and i’ve been ignoring her for the most part,” she gives a summary of what happened, “ and whenever she decides to apologize we can start to move past this” she finishes as though she’s stating a fact
Kaine frowns before asking, "You said that the three of you had a big fight, right?” the question causes Mei to nod in confirmation, although she is confused as to why he's asking that, he continues, “Do you think that maybe she wants you two to apologize to her first?, I mean just like she said some hurtful things to the two of you, you could have said some hurtful things to her as well, even if it was unintentional.” he finishes what he had to say.
But it seems that his words fell on deaf ears
“There’s nothing that we said that would affect her,” Mei states coldly, essentially ending the conversation.
‘It appears that “I” am not the only one who sees that this fight of theirs is affecting her, not that the coward will acknowledge it until it’s too late, now I have to wonder how late is too late in this context, would it be when Kiana completely turns her back to her once friends, will it be after she has a near death experience or perhaps after Kiana dies as she has no one there to help her when she needs it, afterall in this line of work that they are a part, of death is unfortunately a common occurrence, just because they aren’t sent out to dangerous missions that they can't handle now doesn’t mean it won't happen eventually.’ The Herrscher of Thunder thinks to herself as she continues to watch from her host's eyes and listen from her host's ears.
Somehow Theresa, Himeko and Bronya arrived at the same time, and they could see the tense atmosphere around Mei and Kaine, it's so tense that you could practically cut it with a knife.
After the boy managed to get some of the medicine for motion sickness and the water in him he had to explain to the others that this current atmosphere is at least in part his fault as his questions are what lead to this tense atmosphere in the first place.
Neither of the adults are happy about the lack of information on what led to the tense atmosphere, but there's nothing much they can do when neither party wants to tell the whole story.
Despite the “hiccup” that happened after the roller coaster rides between Mei and Kaine, the group of 5 continued to have fun in HOMU LAND, it wouldn’t be until the evening that they would stop going from carnival games to rides to get some food. This time Himeko, Theresa and Mei went to get food whilst Kaine and Bronya held the table for their group.
“The Bronya is curious” Bronya starts
Kaine blinks in surprise as he asks, “What about?”
“What did subject Kaine say to Mei nee-sama that upset her so much?” Bronya asks with a tilt of her head
Kaine sighs, “I just asked her about you guys’ friendship with Kiana and we happened to go a bit of a tangent” he gave a short outline of his earlier interaction with Mei
“The Bronya believes that it will take more than “a bit of a tangent” about the idiotka to upset Mei nee-sama” Bronya states with a frown
Kaine takes a moment to think about how he could properly summarize how the conversation with Mei went
He sighs before, “Long story short she told me about the fight the 3 of you had, I suggested something and she simply stated ‘that there is nothing that either of you said that would affect Kiana’, although i have my doubts on that”
“What did subject Kaine suggest?” Bronya asks with a curious look (well, as much of a curious look Bronya can manage)
He looked apprehensive about going over the same topic a second time, considering how the last one went he didn’t have much high hopes that his words would be taken well a second time.
But ultimately he decided to rip off this bandaid now and not worry about what if scenarios later, “That maybe in the heat of the moment both you and Mei said some things that can hurt Kiana even if you guys don't know about it, that she might be waiting for the both of you to apologize to her before she apologizes to you. From what I've seen she isn't as stupid or as much of an idiot as most people seem to make her out to be, well, at least that's what I'm managing to read from her.”
Bronya looks down with a thoughtful look for a moment
“The Bronya doesn’t believe that there should be anything that was said that should hurt the idiotka,” Kaine looks disappointed when he heard that, however Bronya wasn't done speaking as she said, “however the Bronya also notes that the Bronya isn't close enough to the idiotka to make that assumption, the Bronya will need to reevaluate the Idiotka before she says or does anything.”

Location: Dorm House
When the group arrived back at the dorm house it was nearing midnight and everyone was exhausted.
Kaine did see the TV was on but didn't think much of it especially since miss Himeko said she’ll deal with it, as such the boy carried his mother to her room, before he retired to his room to get some much deserved rest

Location: ????? ????????
Within an empty blackness a young boy, who looks to be seven, is running.
“Worthless”
“Fake”
“Parasite”
“Pest”
“Clone”
“Disgrace”
“Tarnished”
As distorted voices are heard all around him repeating those words over and over again
“If ******* hadn’t run off with that buffoon this wouldn't be happening, this thing wouldn’t be here”
As that sentence was heard the boy fell to the ground as pitch black vines had grabbed him but his legs and arms pinning him to the ground
“It will end up becoming like *********, a disgrace through and through”
Cracks start to form on the ground and an orange light starts to seep through
“Just like that girl will be”
And flames erupt out of the ground consuming the boy as he starts to scream

Location: Dorm House
Kaine woke up with a start, his body covered in sweat. He was breathing heavily from his nightmare. As he puts his face into his hands, trying to calm his erratic breathing and his speeding heart
‘I didn’t ask for this, I didn't ask to be born the way I am, so why… Why do you hate me for something I have no control over?’ Kaine thinks to himself.
He spends the next few minutes focusing on his breathing to calm himself
“I need something to drink, Don’t think ill be able to go back to sleep tonight” he mutters to himself as he leaves his room to go to the kitchen
Later
Although the encounter he had in the kitchen left him completely unable to go back to sleep

Location: Dorm House
After Kiana and Fu Hua went to their rooms
To say that everyone was shocked by the display from the admittedly oblivious duet was an understatement to say the least
“When did they get that close?” Theresa asks, wondering when her niece started dating Fu Hua
“Probably over the time they've been having their tutoring sessions” Himeko gives her an answer
“But normally you hear people talking about others being that close before you actually see them be that close” Theresa states, implying how fast gossip spreads through the school
“Theresa, for all we know they aren't as close as we are making them out to be” Himeko tried to reason with her friend
“But she kissed her!” Theresa exclaimed
“On the cheek” Himeko countered
Bronya coughs to get the twos attention “The Bronya believes that we should observe class monitor and subject Kiana more before concluding their relationship status”
While Himeko Theresa and Bronya were discussing Kiana and Fu Hua’s relationship status, Mei was frozen in shock at what she just witnessed and for once, in a situation like this, the Herrscher was silent, however in this particular instance, the silence is damning. The silence in this instance is proof that the Herrscher was right and she need not say anything.
And lastly there was Kaine who could only be reminded of his “interesting” encounter in the kitchen the night before, very specifically an answer to a question he had asked
“What do I think of what’s happening between them?” ‘She’ let out a scoff before continuing “what I think is that if they keep going the way they are, Kiana will leave them behind, and if I right about the coward by the time she realizes how badly she’s fucked up the bridges would be absolutely beyond repair”
Kaine looks over to the still shell-shocked Mei and thinks ‘for her sake, I hope that ‘she’ is wrong about her, but if ‘she’ isn't then i feel like what ‘she’ said is more of a prophecy that's going to happen’
