they’re gay and they sing songs!!
Summary
They truly thought that they would implode the next time someone tried to talk to them. Every sound was too loud, every light was too bright, and every sensation made them want to leave and never return. But they had another interview to do, so they sat in their chair and their leg bounced.——Or, I wrote the Genshin Impact Eurovision AU that I wanted to read but no one else wrote. You need no Eurovision knowledge (or genshin knowledge, really) to enjoy this fic, but it might help.
Note
Hey there! It’s Aether, and I’m… so exhausted. Heads up for the fact that all of the languages in this fic other than English and Spanish will be written using google translate, so the non-English/Spanish sentences will definitely not be right. There will be content warnings at the beginning of each chapter. There’s some description of sensory overload and slight burnout for this one, but it’s nothing too bad, so… yeah! Just enjoy!!Characters and the countries they represent (there’s really no meaning behind my choices, it’s just what ended up happening) (these countries are finalists cuz i don’t want to come up with a bunch more only for them to get eliminated):germany 🇩🇪 - dilucaustria 🇦🇹 - xiaorussia 🇷🇺 - childefrance 🇫🇷 - kaeyaserbia 🇷🇸 - albedolithuania 🇱🇹 - dainsleifaustralia 🇦🇺 - ayato and ayaka (yoimiya part of delegation)belgium 🇧🇪 - jeancroatia 🇭🇷 - fischlcyprus 🇨🇾 - dehyadenmark 🇩🇰 - bennett, razor, chongyun, + xingqiuestonia 🇪🇪 - aether + luminefinland 🇫🇮 - arataki (itto + kuki’s band)ireland 🇮🇪 - noelleitaly 🇮🇹 - ventilatvia 🇱🇻 - hutao, xinyan, yanfei, yunjin, + xianglingmalta 🇲🇹 - nilounetherlands 🇳🇱 - keqingnorway 🇳🇴 - monapoland 🇵🇱 - eula + amberportugal 🇵🇹 - beidou + ningguangspain 🇪🇸 - rosariasweden 🇸🇪 - thomaswitzerland 🇨🇭 - barbaratürkiye 🇹🇷 - cynoukraine 🇺🇦 - sucroseunited kingdom 🇬🇧 - kazuha

Inter-Delegation Relations (keqing, ganyu, cyno, + tighnari)

Keqing was a busy woman. She busted her ass to get her entry considered in the selection at all, and worked even harder for her win.

She didn’t get a break after the selection. She had interviews, and performances, and promotions, and every single day, she worked just as hard as the last. She loved the work, after all. Why would she be a musician if she didn’t?

She entered the room, returning from her early-morning run. “Goedemorgen, Ganyu.” Her manager was sitting at the table in their hotel room in Vienna, her laptop open and a significant stack of papers and folders next to her. “Hoe laat vertrekt onze trein vandaag? Denk je dat ik genoeg tijd heb voordat we vertrekken om de promotie voor WiwiBloggs te filmen?”

Ganyu glanced at her and then back at her screen. “Good morning, Keqing.”

For a moment, Keqing wondered why Ganyu was speaking in English - it was just the two of them there, after all, and they both spoke Dutch and Mandarin before they spoke English - before realizing that Ganyu must have been on a meeting. She sent a questioning look at the computer and at Ganyu, to which Ganyu motioned her over.

“Keqing, this is Tighnari. He’s the manager for the Turkish representative, Cyno. We were just discussing having you and Cyno meet up in Frankfurt, since we’ll be crossing paths there tomorrow anyways. It would be good publicity, and it would be a great chance to get to know some of the other contestants before Zagreb. Besides, you’re already going to film that ‘24 Hours with a Contestant’ thing for WiwiBloggs, this could be a good thing to include.”

Keqing pushed her hair out of her face and considered the idea. It was smart, for sure. She would have to rework some of her plans for their stop in Frankfurt, but that wouldn’t be too tough. She hadn’t scheduled much in the first place, since their stop in Frankfurt was just a day-long stopover on their way back to Haarlem.

“It sounds like a good idea. Where and when would we meet?”

“We’ll figure that out next,” Tighnari replied. “We were thinking of meeting up at a cafe and spending some time in Frankfurt as a group, but we’re still working on specifics.”

“Alright.” Keqing sat down next to Ganyu. “Where were we thinking of going?”

———

“Merhaba, WiwiBloggs! My name is Cyno, and this is 24 Hours with a Eurovision contestant.”

Cyno ended his recording and shoved his camera in his bag. He checked through his bag one more time to make sure he had everything he needed, but before he could get far, Tighnari entered the hotel room they were sharing in Bern and handed him his train ticket. “We’re going to be meeting part of the Dutch delegation in Frankfurt. The Dutch representative is working on the same type of video that you are for WiwiBloggs, and we’ll all be in Frankfurt by tomorrow, so it seemed like a good idea.”

Cyno shrugged. It didn’t seem like something he had to respond to. Tighnari simply went on with what he was doing. “We’re leaving for the train station in an minute, are you packed?”

“Yeah, just making sure I have everything.”

Tighnari scanned the room for anything that might have been left. “I think we’re good, and they can always send us anything if we leave it behind. Come on, the train leaves in an hour.”

Cyno zipped his bag and slung it over his shoulder, and followed Tighnari out of the room. He put his earbuds in and turned on his travel playlist (that just happened to have all of the competing songs on it, but so what?). The bass kicked in, and synchronized with his steps as he walked down the hall.
