Chapter 2

:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------:
Graves: No! Soap you need to stop asking me about Wolf. General Shepherd doesn’t tell me everything there is to know about ex-military personnel. Besides, it was already a no when they decided to shoot one of my men!

Soap: There has to be a way of connecting with them. We could set a trap or offer them a deal. We need a way to get to El Sin Nombre before they switch sides.

Graves: Setting a trap or offering something up. Would cost men. Men we need if we are going to finish this. We know where El Sin Nombre will go. We need a way to get Wolf distracted with something. An ambush might work though.

Soap: Fuck, Graves you’d make an enemy!

Graves: Wolf probably doesn’t have a ton of men.. we could use that to our advantage and make them spread their numbers completely thin. They’d be busy trying to reconnect with everyone; it would take time.

Graves: It will be a huge win for us. Trust me.. I’ll go offer my idea to General Shepherd. You go and see if everyone is ready for our next op.

With that Graves turns to report to Shepherd and leaves Soap stunned. Not an inch of regard for another’s men. Soaps sighs and turns hopefully things won’t end bloody.

Soap walks eyeing the new recruits and their commanding officer. He thinks back to when he started out. Worried he get caught; his age did not match up to what he put on the form he sent before he joined. He laughs. Old memories. He walks by the barracks and spots Alejandro sitting down on one of the beds.. He looks deep in thought.

Soap: Yo! Alejandro, are you doing okay? Looks like you got something on your mind.

Alejandro: Oh, I’m sorry camarada. I overheard you asking Graves about seeing if we could contact Wolf.

Soap: Yeah, he’s being a big dickhead about it, he’s gone to offer up an ambush on Wolf. Think’s they don’t have big amounts of men.

Alejandro: That idiota is gonna get what’s coming to him.

Soap: We can only hope for the best. Is there anything else on your mind?

Alejandro: ¿Cómo sabremos que es Wolf? I mean I don’t think they are gonna turn into a wolf or go all feral. Right?

Soap: Well, they're the captain. They’d stay with their men until the end. Stay until the last man drops.

Soap: And you don’t have to refer to them as they or them. Found out it’s a woman.

Alejandro: Who? Wolf?

Soap: Yeah, Ghost and I looked at her file. Thought she was a strong muscular man?

Soap flexed his muscles to help make the atmosphere more at ease. Alejandro seemed a little on edge, he never encountered Wolf on the front lines. A woman. A woman did all of that. Impressive, but in the badass criminal type way. Of course he would overhear conversations of a wolf-like being. But would never stop and think if Wolf was a woman or a man. Just someone dangerous.

Soap: You wanna hear one of my old folks tales about wolves?

Alejandro: Sure hermano.

Alejandro would begin to smile, replaced by the tales of Soap’s family that made him feel warm. He missed so much of life due to the military. But he also loved the military more than anything. So who could really blame him.

:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------:

A knock on your office door is just enough to wake you up from the mountain of papers, even being in the middle of nowhere they still seem to find you.

Wolf: Come in.

You shove a yawn down as Fang enters. He drops another stack of papers to the already growing pile.

Fang: Are you sure you don’t need me to help with the paperwork? I could finish half by 2130

You glared at him with the most I really don’t care face, just before your forehead bangs back on top of your desk.

Wolf: Just make it go away. I’d sell my own kidney to have no more work other than missions.

Fang: Too bad. I offered my help.

Wolf: I would have not done my part so you could have done it. I do trust you with doing the paperwork you know.

You smirk as your head rises and eyes focus on Fang.

Fang: Oh, haha. Did you at least clean your gun before sleeping?

Wolf: ….No..

Fang: Wolf.. we need those weapons in top condition.

Wolf: We’ll be fine.

You quickly changed the subject, you couldn't stand to hear Fang complaining when you just woke up.

Wolf: You want me to help carry these out to your room?

Fang: Actually yeah, that would be better than taking two trips.

You giggle, you take half the stack and follow Fang outside your building.. and without warning you slam into Fang.

Wolf: Mind telling me why you're acting like a bloody pillar?

Fang: I’ve been thinking actually, what if we don’t get involved with anyone right now. I mean we barely have any men for our assignments.

Fang turns to you, eyes filled with concern. You already knew what you decided on when you started all this.

Wolf: No. Our employer wants us to get involved, but not with siding with one side… and yes we are short on men but with training things are working.

You decide to try and stop the conversation from becoming more depressing. You start walking ahead of Fang.

Fang: But what if the plan fails? Gonna run into the woods and pray they aren’t picking us off one-by-one?

Wolf: Fang, that won’t happen. I’ll make sure of it.

Conversations ended quickly. You knew if shit did go down you would go down with your men. The atmosphere was boring and unwanted, the paperwork you held actually felt more entertaining than walking them to your second-in-commands office. When you did arrive you plopped the paperwork down on Fang's desk and quickly sat in his chair. Head resting on top of the chair. Eyes closed.

Fang: You do release that’s where I sit, and that I’m doing our paperwork so that you don't have to.

Wolf: I do.

Fang made his way over to you, you never really worried about what Fang would do. I knew longer than most of the people you worked with. You felt his presents and keeping your eyes closed you started playing with your skin. Running your hand over the scars on your face, little scars. Some from close combat and some from bullets slightly cutting your skin. But your focus remained on Fang, opening your eyes slightly seeing him crouched over looking at your hands.

Fang: I’m lucky to be working with you Wolf. But, I would really like to sit in my chair. So please get up.

Really?! Fuck me honestly. You sigh and get up, walking to the door and pause. Turning to Fang.

Wolf: Are you sure you can finish this by 2130?

Fang: Yes. Wanna time me?

Wolf: No, I'll take your word on it.

You open the door and head out.

Wolf: See you later Fang.
