Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Jongkook liked to keep their ongoing relationship private, not because they were embarrassed about it, but because both liked to savor their time alone. Everyone around them knew about their relationship, but had rarely seen them display romantic affection to each other. They were cautious with their pda, kept it professional for the sake of everyone. It was easier that way, less questions that would make them feel uncomfortable, and less teasing about them being an item.
It was rare when the members would make comments about their relationship, usually taking form in annoyed banter about them getting along. They never teased about their private pda, so Jae Suk was confused once he got to the recording location and Jeon Somin began teasing him.
“Wow oppa, Jongkook oppa really did a number on you last night, huh. Nice to see you two having fun.”
The girl smiles widely, nose scrunching up in that unique way of hers, and Jae Suk frowns, because what the hell is she talking about? Somin moves towards him, eyes wide and dreamy as she looks with wonder someplace in his neck. She lifts her hand up, a finger lightly touching his neck, and Jae Suk recoils because the touch is ticklish.
“It must feel liberating having those shown to the world. I think love marks are beautiful. Are you finally not shy about them?”
Jae Suk self-consciously covers his neck with his hand, and Somin’s smile widens.
“Jihyo unnie and I are still careful about those. She’s very strict about not leaving marks on the skin. I hope one day we can be like you and Jongkook oppa.”
It takes a second to process the girls words, but once Jae Suk understands what she’s saying he rushes to the closest mirror, tilts his head to the side as he pulls slightly on the neck of his jumper.
“Dammit, Kim Jongkook!”
Angry red blotches, purple at the edges, covering the lower part of his neck. They are small in size, quite noticeable against the paleness of his skin. He hadn’t noticed it when getting ready, and Jongkook hadn’t said anything about it this morning. It explains the saccharine smile he had though, the way he kept glancing at him with happy eyes and ignoring Jae Suk’s questioning face.
Somin looks at him in wonder, and Jae Suk sighs frustrated.
“I told that brat to not leave any marks! Of course he wouldn’t listen!”
Somin’s eyebrows lifted up, surprised. Jae Suk bites his lip, worried and embarrassed, and Somin’s face relaxes, taking pity on him. She grabs his hand softly, makes him sit on the couch, and she goes to get her purse. Jae Suk watches with confused eyes, slightly perking up once she comes back with a small sponge and a concealer.
Somin smiles at him, sits next to him as she beckons him to tilt his head to the side. She applies the liquid, and Jae Suk shiver’s at the sudden coldness. The two remain silent for a second, Somin focusing on applying the makeup carefully.
“Did you seriously not notice the marks, Jae Suk oppa?”
Jae Suk shakes his head slightly, sighing heavily as he becomes irritated.
“Of course not Somin-ah. Had I noticed I would have tried to cover them up. It’s embarrassing for me, and that bastard Kim Jongkook didn’t mention a thing. I know he saw them this morning.”
Somin laughs softly, and Jae Suk frowns.
“I guess Jongkook oppa wanted everyone to see the hickeys.”
Jae Suk scoffs at that, annoyed.
“That sly idiot. He kept smiling in the morning, and I thought he was just in a good mood. Aish, I’m seriously going to nag him to death.”
Somin sits back a bit, looks at Jae Suk’s neck to assess her job.
“Well, at least Jongkook oppa and you had some fun last night. Glad he made you feel good.”
Somin says that with a cheeky grin, lightly tapping the concealer onto his skin. Jae Suk blushes, embarrassed by the implication despite it being not true.
The truth was that Jongkook had playfully bitten him there, sucking at his neck despite Jae Suk’s light protests. He had licked the spot, warm tongue making Jae Suk squirm because it was ticklish. He had tilted his head to the side despite having told Jongkook that he should stop, and let him suckle his neck for quite some time. When Jongkook stopped he kissed his neck softly, and Jae Suk had asked whether he had left a mark. The man didn’t answer, and instead kissed him on the lips, pushing him on his back as they ended the night with a sweet make out session that went nowhere because of how tired Jae Suk had been. The couple had accidentally overslept, and had gotten ready in a rush, Jae Suk leaving their house first so as to allow the production team to give personal missions without either of them knowing.
It’s far from what Somin thinks they did, and Jae Suk feels scandalized. He vehemently shakes his head, tries to get rid of his blush.
“No Somin, it’s nothing like that! Kookjong is just too playful. These are not some marks done during whatever it is you were thinking. He’s just very affectionate, so-“
Somin laughs at his ramble, cheeks blushing a bit as she feels slightly embarrassed.
“You don’t have to explain oppa!”
Jae Suk covers his face, and Somin leaves to go get her compact mirror. She waits patiently for him to calm down, then hands him the small mirror so he can take a look. The marks are gone, hidden well by the light concealer, and Jae Suk puffs his cheeks in relief.
“Thank you so much Jeon Sobari. You’re a lifesaver!”
He smiles widely, ruffles her hair affectionately as the girl whines. The moment is cut short as Jongkook, Jihyo, and Suk Jin come in. The trio look at them confused, wondering about the display of affection. Jihyo’s face is blank, but it lights up as soon as Somin walks to her, kissing her cheek. Suk Jin raises his eyebrows, then turns to walk away to put his jacket away. Jongkook remains standing, and Jae Suk’s face hardens once he meets his lover's eyes.
“Yah, Kim Jongkook, you are in big trouble!”
The man looks at him confused, then frowns once he notices Jae Suk’s neck. He goes towards him, touches his neck softly, and Jae Suk backs away so as to not ruin the makeup.
“You covered them hyung?”
Jae Suk scoffs.
“Of course I did! You know how embarrassing it was to have Somin point them out? She implied that you made me have a good time!”
Jongkook wraps his arms around him, whispers to his ear.
“I do make you have a good time, hyung. I always make sure you feel good. Is that not true?”
Jae Suk blushes, punching him lightly.
“But that’s not the reason why I have these on my neck! You seriously made me pass such an embarrassing moment.”
Jae Suk pouts, and Jongkook laughs at the cuteness.
“You’re so cute, hyung. You do realize I’ve been leaving several marks these past few weeks, right? Nobody has pointed them out though.”
Jae Suk’s eyes widen, and Jongkook’s smiles cheekily.
“I’ve also been showing the hickeys you give me hyung. They are subtle, but I know the others have noticed.”
Jongkook kisses him briefly, then lets go of his waist, winking. Jae Suk is shocked, doesn’t know what to say as Jongkook turns to leave the room. Somin and Jihyo look at him while covering their laughs, and Jae Suk flushes red.
“Kim Jongkook, expect to sleep on the couch tonight!”
He yells that across the room, and when he receives no reply he runs in the direction his boyfriend left. He’ll make Jongkook pay.
