Chapter 1
He hid under the wooden floors, clutching the briefcase that held thousands in cash; he hid for the civilians he's wronged for many months. The scams against the people returned to him, and now they wanted his head on a stake. They made it clear they wouldn't stop until they found him; he didn't know how long it would take them to find him; he needed an escape plan. But with his current situation, there was no way. He was a sitting duck. The steps got louder and louder. Rummaging through his belongings and throwing them about, the muffled voices were getting tense. It didn't take long for tools to be brought out, breaking down the cobble walls and broken glass shattered. He knew it was over. Holding back his tears, a hand cupped over his mouth to muffle his whimpers. Suddenly the footsteps stopped; silence took over, only the sound of his heartbeat. Scrambling his belongings, planning a way out; an axe head smashing through the wood suddenly interrupted; inches away from his head. Scrambling back, holding his case tight against his chest, watching the axe pull back, the light illuminating his pale skin.
An brown iris peeks through. "Schlatt?" A familiar voice whispers, Ted. Relief Washes over his body, seeing his long-time friend in hopes of a rescue mission. "Ted!" Quickly silenced by his friend, dropping an invisibility potion into his hands: the purple liquid swished into the clear bottle. It was illegal to have these. How Ted got them was beyond him. "How did you?" Ted quickly cuts him off."It doesn't matter; drink it. Now. I have a horse for you to escape." Ted continues to break down the panels giving him a hand and crawling out hesitantly. "Hurry, drink it." Taking a swig, ignoring the tangy taste, and chugging the rest till the last drop, it didn't take long for the effect to work. Invisible to the plain eye, Ted led the invisible man out the door. He looked back at the crowd before swiftly following the hybrid to his white station. Schlatt jumps onto the horse with a huff, taking hold of the saddle, getting ready to leave, but before he does."Thank you, ill come back for you." "No need. I'll find you wherever you are; keep low for now." Giving a small smile at his dear friend, tears forming in his eyes; quick to blink, the town lights fade away, Ted's silhouette fading away in the distance. Schlatts vision becomes blurry once again; He can't help it watching his life become distant, the friends he's made left behind, although he had the tiniest hope that teds words would be valid; they would see each other again, maybe not tomorrow but soon. But. He knew that was slim.
