Chapter 6
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and months turned into years.
Asami and I have stayed strong throughout the course of our relationship.
We’ve learned a lot from the struggles that we went through. We’ve also figured that talking to each other instead of bottling our feelings was the best course of action after we almost lost each other all those years ago.
Asami’s the lead engineer in their company while I became a New yorks best selling author for the last few years. My debut best selling book being Ava and Brooke’s story and as I promised her before I woke up from my coma. I rewrote their ending and gave Brooke the courage to stand up on her own two feet instead of letting fear take control of her feelings and her actions.
My own fears were still looming in the background as I wrote their story but Asami was there to reassure me every step of the way that she’s not leaving no matter what happens. That I’ll always have her in my corner. That she’ll always stand by my side in the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. That we’ll always be there for each other no matter what life throws at us.
“And now that I stand in front of everyone. I would like to give this time to thank my wife” I looked at the audience in front of me “Asami Sato - Waters. I wouldn’t have reached this peak in my career without you by my side” I took a deep breath as tears started brimming up my eyes “You have been the inspiration in my books and most importantly, you have pushed me more than anyone to continue writing. Never have I ever heard you doubt my skills and I appreciate everything you do for me” I beamed for a second looking at the bronze sculpture awarded to me “I’m grateful for everything and I dedicate this award to you. I love you with all my heart and soul. You’re my everything”
Once the awarding ceremony was done, we were back in our hotel. Laying on the bed with her head on my chest.
“I don’t know when I’ll ever get tired of thanking you, Sams. You mean the world to me and so much more”
Asami chuckled as she propped herself on her forearms.
“Come on bubs, you’re an awesome author and that’s all you got for me?” She teased with a big smile on her face
“You know more than anyone that I kinda… sorta… lose all of that when I’m infront of you” I beamed chuckling while looking her in the eyes
“I’m just glad you chose me as your happy ending” she leaned closer placing her forehead on mine
“Nah… more like this is our happy ending” I pulled her close, her whole weight on mine “And I will choose this over and over again”
