Chapter 1

I looked down and I couldn’t really feel anything. My hand was on my stomach, I slowly lifted it and saw red.

“Blood” I whispered.

Is it my blood? Is it someone else’s blood?

I looked up and saw Asami’s face. Her face was scrunched with worry. Her eyes were large, her hand reached out to my blood soaked hand and clutched it close.

“Korra! Korra!”

That was the last thing that I heard before everything turned black

~~~~~
I opened my eyes and I was back in my apartment.
Just a dream?
I thought to myself as I sat down then clutched my head with my hand.
Why do I have a raging headache? Did I sleep weirdly last night?
My eyes were drawn to my nightstand where I saw an almost empty bottle of vodka sitting there.
That explains the headache but Jesus fuck. What happened last night? I can’t seem to remember what happened.
I decided to finally make something to eat so I can take some Advil for my raging headache. I casually walked in the kitchen and grabbed a piece of bread from the container, not even bothering to toss it in the toaster. I took a bite from it and was about to make some coffee when something or someone pulled me from my mindless routine.
Who the fuck’s in my apartment?
My brows furrowed as I slowly and carefully grabbed the rolling pin from the counter then held it like a bat.
My apartment’s not even that big so how in the world did I not notice anyone when I walked over here from my room?
It was a small one bedroom apartment with the dining/living room combo and the small kitchen tucked behind the counter housing the cabinets and the sink. My room wasn’t even that far from it either, you take 5 steps from the kitchen then there I was 2 minutes ago. So again, how and who the fuck is this person?
The person was looking outside through the glass sliding door.
She looks and feels extremely familiar even without her turning and looking over at me.
“Hey! Who are you? How did you get in here?” I asked still holding the rolling pin
The raven-haired woman turned then looked over. Instead of being scared or anything, she smiled and the rolling pin slipped from my hands, falling on the floor.
“Asami?” I asked astonished
Her smile widened but shook her head.
“Not quite!” She took a few steps closer then bopped me on the nose with her forefinger “You modeled me after her but that’s not my name” She took a few steps trying to circle me
“Modeled you? What? What are you talking about?” I turned to see her again
Raven black hair, luscious red lips, Striking green eyes, legs that could go on forever but then I narrowed my eyes at her face and there it was, the difference between Asami and this person.
She pointed it out as well with her finger, she has a small cut on her eyebrow.
“Ava?” I softly whispered her name, she nodded then smiled “But how? You’re a character in a book! How are you alive?” She shrugged but kept that smile on her face
“You could call me Ava or you know call me Asami. I just had to let you know that I’m not really her, just the culmination of your imagination of her” She beamed
“You sure?” I pouted
“Yes, you could call me Asami. After all, I am her in your world” another shrug as she sat down on the couch
“Wait, I’m still confused. I still don’t understand how you’re alive” As I started forgetting about my headache, it decided to make me remember it by giving me a throbbing headache. My hand flew to my head remembering why I left my room in the first place “Know what, how bout this” I took a deep breath as I made my way back in the kitchen “Food first, then talk?”
“Sounds amazing” She followed me in the kitchen then started making coffee. She knew exactly what to do like she’s been here before. Like she's lived here and made me coffee before. “You need help with that pancake?” She asked glancing my way
“Nah, nah, I got this. Thanks for asking” I turned my focus back on the pancakes infront of me and thought of a reason or something logical to have her infront of me.
How could a book character be alive? That’s just unheard of.
Asami… Well, Ava and I were sitting around the dining table eating pancakes and sipping coffee but I just couldn’t and honestly help looking up and looking at her. It still feels surreal that she’s here. Like there’s some weird magical force that brought her here in my apartment.
Am I high? Did I take drugs? I don’t think so. Shrooms? Shit! I knew it! I shouldn’t have trusted Bolin and his weird pizza last night! Fuck! So if I really am drug induced, how do I un-induce myself? Wait? Un-induce? Is that even a word? I think it is. NO! Shut up! Focus! Ava is here.
I looked up and saw her looking at me with an eyebrow up. Both my eyebrows shot up which made her chuckle.
“I can hear you think all the way over here” She smiled
“I… Well.. I just don’t know how to wrap my head around the fact that you’re here” I slowly reached out my hand close to her face “Do you mind?” she had a soft smile on her face as she reached out to my hand then placed it on her cheek “I don’t feel anything?” I tilted my head to the side. I can’t feel her hand or the warmth of her face on my hand.
“I’m not really supposed to be here so that’s probably why” she sat back up as my hand retreated to my side
“But you’re here. I can see you. I should atleast be able to feel your warmth in my hand or something” She leaned closer then flicked me on the forehead “AW!! What the fuck?”
“Well, you obviously felt that one” She chuckled sitting on her chair again
“None of this makes sense to me” I sighed shaking my head as I dropped my gaze towards my plate
“It does to me though” she retorted making me whip my head to look at her
“What do you mean?” my brows furrowed trying to understand her
“I’m a character in your story”
“Yea, I’m aware of that. We’ve already made that crystal clear to everyone” I rolled my eyes “Do you even know who I am?”
Asami/Ava gave me another soft smile. She stood up instead of answering me. She placed her hand on my arm then lightly pulled me to force me to stand up. I sighed, shook my head, then begrudgingly followed her to wherever she was gonna bring me.
“My desktop?” My eyebrows furrowed as she had me sit down on my computer chair. She nodded then grabbed the dining chair to sit next to me.
“You’re THE greatest Author that I know of. Well given that you wrote me, I might be a little biased on that front but glossing over that. You’ve been stuck on this one specific thing in your book for the last month” She unlocked the computer and there it was. My unfinished manuscript. “You are Korra Allen. A loved author, a great friend, a great lover, and a great person all around” I sighed then shook my head. I was about to stand up and walk away from the conversation when she grabbed my hand, keeping me from doing just that. “A very selfless person” I dropped my gaze from the computer to the keyboard underneath it “You pushed away the person you love the most to pursue what you think is right for her. You told the real Asami lies to make her think you’re right and her dad’s right and now that you’re at that crossroad in the book. You just can’t seem to make up your mind. The you in the book’s just about to do the same thing you did in real life and you can’t stomach her going through what you’re going through right now” She took a deep breath to pause, placed her hand on my cheek making me look at her “Are you going to let her do the same mistakes you once did? Or are you going to rewrite her story and give her a proper happy ending?”
