Christmas time

It's been a few weeks now and Christmas is just around the corner. Bianca and Eugene have been invited for tomorrow.

"Honey, when do we want to go and get the tree?" Larissa yelled from the kitchen.

Wednesday, who had just been relaxing on the sofa watching Nightmare on Elm Street on TV with a grin on her face, ignored Larissa's question.

"Honey, did you hear me?" Larissa tries again, and Wednesday peers over the back of the sofa.

"What do you want?"

Larissa looks at her and rolls her eyes, still with a grin on her face.

"I asked you when we were going to get the tree?"

There is silence for a moment and Wednesday considers.

"Fine, we can go later."

Her voice rings out. Wednesday's face shows an interesting expression when she sees Larissa in her skirt and red jumper with white plush trim and reindeer on it.

Larissa didn't miss the look.

"What are you looking at me like that for?"

She asks Wednesday with a grin, but Wednesday not happy to talk about it because she knows it will hurt Larissa.

"Do you really want to go off with that Flokati?"

Larissa puts her hands on her hips.

"Yes, why?"

"Well, then I hope no one thinks they have to go hunting."

Larissa rolls her eyes, at which Wednesday's grin widens.

"Would be a shame to have your head hanging on the wall as a trophy, wouldn't it? Just because you were mistaken for an animal"

Wednesday hadn't even finished saying those words when a kitchen knife was thrown at her, but Wednesday caught it in mid-flight.

Wednesday's grin widened. Oh how she loved this side of Larissa.

Offended, Larissa returned to her food. Except that her favourite knife was now missing. Slightly frustrated, she took a new one from the drawer.

After about an hour, Wednesday got up and joined Larissa. She wrapped her arms around the taller woman's waist and held her tightly.

"No sex until tonight"

Frustrated, the hands let go of her and Larissa heard the sigh from Wednesday's mouth.

"All right," she said, "and here I thought a quickie would be fun."

"You know as well as I do that it won't be just a quickie and we don't have the time."

Pouting, Wednesday moved away from Larissa.

"Those three minutes would have been fine."

Wednesday mumbled to herself, which made Larissa laugh out loud.

"I said no. We can talk about it when we get back, but not now. I'm busy. And we were going to go and get the tree soon."

Every attempt Wednesday made to convince Larissa of this failed.

"Honey, I can help you relax."

Wednesday spoke sincerely, hoping Larissa would give in.

Larissa turned around, went to the table, pulled out a chair and placed it right next to her.

"Relaxation sounds good. You're welcome to massage my shoulders."

Wednesday was speechless. Stunned how Larissa could make such a joke, amused because there was a grin on her face.

Wednesday went into the bathroom to get ready.

If Larissa wanted a tree, then she was going to get one.

Arriving at the Winter Market, Larissa was wrapped up to the face, while Wednesday stood outside in normal clothes, an Addams doesn't freeze... Larissa, on the other hand, froze very quickly and if Larissa had thought that buying a tree would be a quick task, she was wrong.

"How about this one?" she asked, pointing to a nice big tree that looked ideal for decorating.

"No, I need a ladder to put the baubles on," came defiantly from Wednesday's mouth.

"I like that one," said Wednesday, pointing to a tree that wasn't much bigger than she was and whose branches were more depressing than beautiful.

"No way," Larissa replied, shaking her head.

"If we're going to buy a tree, we want it to be beautiful." Larissa said gracefully.

"We can put you up there too. Then I'll hang a few baubles on you and it'll look nice, you've already got the right size," said Wednesday rather cynically, but Larissa thought she had misheard.

"What was that?"

"Oh nothing, how about this tree?"

Wednesday tried to divert the conversation by pointing to a medium-sized tree that looked a little better, but was still not perfect enough for Larissa.

Larissa walked up to a tree that had her mesmerised. It wasn't that big, Wednesday wouldn't have any problems reaching the top of it... But it was beautiful. Standardised branches. It was perfect. Wednesday rolled her eyes, but settled on this tree.

"Fine, let it be this one," she murmured. Since Larissa had thought it would do Wednesday good to cut the tree herself, at least she would have been a bit exhausted, she had decided to go and have a look in this area, but what Wednesday did now left her speechless.

Wednesday pulled out her sharp knife and knelt down, willing to saw the tree in one hour's action with the knife, the blade of which was about 20cm long.

"This is a bad joke, isn't it?" Larissa asked, raising her eyebrow.

"You didn't want me to buy the MS881, did you? Ergo, then that's how it has to go," Wednesday countered, but she was interrupted.

"Wednesday, I'm certainly not going to let you walk around with a chainsaw whose 105 cm blade is almost as big as you. A smaller one would have been fine."

"I'm an Addams, I don't work with toys"

An hour passed and Wednesday was halfway through sawing, while Larissa was getting increasingly frustrated and cold.

"Are you really serious?"

Larissa asked again, frustration evident in her voice.

"Yes I am," Wednesday replied dry.

"All right, if you're looking for me, I'll be at the mulled wine stand at the front, going to warm up."

Before Wednesday could reply, Larissa had disappeared.

Once at the front of the stand, Larissa ordered herself a drink.

"A mulled wine with a double shot," her face was red from the cold. Her lips had turned from a blood-red to a slightly bluish colour as she clutched the warm cup with its hot contents.

After another hour and Larissa's third cup with a double shot, she was now moderately buzzed.

At least she was no longer cold when Wednesday, with a grin on her face, pulled the tree behind her and came towards her.

"Honey, there you are. I thought you were lost," Larissa slurred with a grin on her face.

"Are you drunk?" Wednesday asked speechless.

"No pfffff. I'm not drunk. Hihi. But I'm not freezing any more."

Wednesday paid for the tree and had it tied in a net.

"One question, would it be possible to tie my woman up too? So that I can get her home more easily?"

Wednesday asked in all seriousness, but the shop assistant only replied with a horrified "No".

"Too bad, well, it was worth a try, but thanks for the tree," Wednesday said kindly.

Larissa, who had been standing next to her, grinned mischievously.

"Well," she said. "Bad luck for you, eh?"

Wednesday looked at her and grinned back.

"What isn't yet, it could still be arranged. And now let's go home."

The walk home was more exhausting than Wednesday had thought... not just the tree, which was heavy but which she lovingly dragged behind her, but also putting up with Larissa, who couldn't hold her liquor like she used to in her twenties.

Larissa strolled down the middle of the street, fidgeted a little and started singing the first verses of "dreaming of a white Christmas".

Wednesday thought about getting Larissa off the street, but decided against it. If she was honest, she was a little amused to see Larissa singing peacefully and loudly, giggling and seemingly having fun.

"Darling... darling... darling, look"

Larissa shouted a little louder and Wednesday turned in her direction. Fatal mistake, because a snowball came flying and hit her in the face.

"One-nil for me, the headmaster has won!"

Larissa slurred loudly to herself as the snow fell from Wednesday's face...

"The crowd applauds. Thank you... Thank you...", Larissa shouted, clowning around. Wednesday, on the other hand, was struggling with her mood. She kept reminding herself that she loved Larissa... her face darkened a little.

"Honey, don't scowl...."

"I'm not scowling," Wednesday countered immediately.

"Yes, you are ... you don't love me anymore," Larissa replied. Wednesday no longer understood anything. Her expression suddenly changed from serious to questioning.

"Look... you're silent, you don't love me anymore."

Larissa pursed her lower lip and Wednesday knew that she had to convince Larissa otherwise.

"Honey, I didn't say that," Wednesday tried, but was interrupted.

"No, but I thought you did."

"Can we please just go home? Please? I'm getting cold. "

"Oh, now you want to go home?! Oh you're getting cold"

"Wednesday ignored Larissa's statement and just kept walking.

"Hey, I'm talking to you. stop and look at me.

Wednesday stopped and turned around, but just as she looked in Larissa's direction, the next snowball came flying, hitting her again and Wednesday heard Larissa's peals of laughter.

"You just wait," Wednesday cursed and let go of the tree, forming a snowball and aiming it at Larissa.

"You wouldn't dare.....”

But Wednesday ignored her and threw the ball, which hit Larissa directly. Within a few minutes, the two of them were having a snowball fight of a lifetime.

In the next few metres and they would be home. Both were wet and freezing from the snowball fight. Wednesday pulled the tree behind her and listened to Larissa slurring her words.

"Honey, I'll make it up to you, I promise... When we get home we can still have fun, I'm still full of energy.."

Wednesday, who had spent the whole evening wishing for nothing more, was clearly looking forward to getting home. The only thing she hadn't realised was that there was something behind the door at home who would strike Larissa down as soon as she walked through the door.

Once home, Wednesday opened the front door and Larissa stumbled in, giggling. Wednesday pulled the tree inside and put it to the side. But when she turned around, Larissa was lying face down on the couch, fast asleep. The coat was in front of the couch and Larissa was on the couch. Fun was out of the question.

Frustrated, she walked over to the couch and nudged her.

"Honey, you have to get up and get undressed," she tried, but Larissa didn't respond. So she took the blanket off the backrest and covered Larissa up so that she could sleep the boozed off.

She gave her a kiss on the cheek and went into the bathroom to change. The day had been exhausting and the evening even more so.
