Chapter 2

Kyoshi rises with the sun dressing and pulling on what of her armor she had been able to save and grabs her bag from the table by the door slinging it over her shoulder and grabbing a stack of books from beside it, a quick check assuring her she had every item of hers from the room as she walks out and down the stairs dropping the key onto the desk and walking out the door and into the shop next door pushing the door open..

“Here are the books you let me borrow,” Kyoshi says setting down Three large tomes.

“I was surprised to learn you knew how to read, did those jog your memory?” The Maester asks setting the books on the shelf behind the desk.

“A few things, We came from Essos when i was young but not much past that., she tells him, Having come up with a straightforward backstory.

“And youre father?” he asks curiously.

“Still nothing, i want to thank you for youre help.”

“So youre leaving then? Where will you go i wonder if you dont remember youre past.”

“I plan on taking the Rose road to kings landing.” she tells him reclosing her bag.

“Then I wish you well.” he waves her off and she leaves the building heading towards the edge of town when she feels something calling to her she turns to see the castle walking up the path towards it dipping into a grove of trees as close to the wall as she could safely get, Kyoshi sits and begins to meditate in the way Kelsang her heart hurting for her unavenged father figure. She forces all thoughts from her mind to reach out for the castle, to whatever calling her. She feels her consciousness pulled away from her body towards three pale trees with faces and can feel them staring at her when once again she is pulled into them, through them across a vast difference until she is on a hill overlooking a massive barren icy wasteland.

“This is where you will be needed Avatar, but you have time yet. Find The prince.” a million voices whisper in her mind before she is thrown back into her own body leaning forward and throwing up. When she is done she wipes her lip looks at her hand and finds it covered in a white substance with red veins running through it, she looks at her vomit seeing it all the same.

“What was that?!” she mutters her head aching, her past lives and Raava have no response, Kyoshi forces herself to her feet, doing what she's done her whole life, keep moving forward she leaves the grove making her way down to the road and beginning her journey to the capital. Her body and head aching for days.

She walks for weeks with no company but herself, eating sleeping, and meditating when she's not walking.

“Help!” kyoshi’s eyes shoot open as she pushes out of her bedroll using earth bending to bury all of her belongings before rushing towards the girl’s voice to find a farmhouse on fire a woman being dragged from the door by a group of men, kyoshi’s eyes harden as she pulls the fire from the roof onto two of the men blasting them away from the girl rushing forward and slamming her fist into the face of the last man knocking him unconscious as she turns to the shocked woman.

“Is there anyone in the house?” she asks her and she doesn't say anything too much in shock. Kyoshi lets her go reaching out and dispersing the flames on the house rushing inside to find a burnt body.

“Bastard Daofei!” she snarls heading outside and pulling the fire off of the two men and grabbing one of them feelling his charred skin under her hands.

“Why would you do this?!”

“Ple. Please kill me!” he begs her and she drops him turning to the woman.

“Are you hurt?” the woman looks to the man on the floor rushing over to him and pulling the dagger from his waist stabbing him in the chest over and over again tears streaming down her face Kyoshi watches as she stops the man long-dead but her tears still flowing. She looks around the farm wondering if the woman would be able to keep it afloat alone seeing bunkhouses out in the field.

“Where these the workers you hired?” Kyoshi asks coming to kneel besides the woman putting a hand on her shoulder and seeing her flinch from her touch.

“N..no, We. I've never seen them before.”

“Do you have fieldhands here?” Kyoshi asks and the woman nods.”
“Would you like me to go get them?” the woman nods and Kyoshi leaves her to walk between the berry fields knocking on the door and hearing scrambling.

“One moment!” the door opens and a brown-haired man looks at Kyoshi and then up at her.

“Wow youre big, what's going on ms?”

“Daofei have attacked the farm, The woman you work for needs youre help.” she sees the man's eyes steel as he grabs a sword from besides the door pushing it openall of the way.

“Get up now!” he yells back at the other men and Kyoshi can see them wake up.

“Were under attack!” he yells at them and they scramble grabing their own weapons and rushing off towards the main house passed Kyoshi. She follows after them coming back to the house and hearing screaming.

“WHERE WHERE YOU!” she yells at them.

“We didn't hear anything Juniper.” he tries to explain

“My husband is dead, I don't know what to do now.” one of the two men check on the burnt bandits his eyes widen as he does.

“What happened to these bandits.”

“I killed them,” Kyoshi speaks up and all heads turn to her,

“She saved me, I..i have nothing to thank you,” she says,

“You don't need to thank me, I was camping near your farm for the night and happened to hear you.” Kyoshi looks at the house wondering how she could help.

“Please stay, at least until I bury my Mathew” Kyoshi nods her ascent as the woman forces herself to stand. Heading towards the burnt home stopping before she can step inside.

“I I can't.” Kyoshi walks up placing a hand on her shoulder.

“I'll prepare him, you should clean yourself.” the woman looks down her eyes widening at the blood on her hands and chest, with a tense nod she all but runs to the river.

“One of you should go after her the other should deal with the Daofei.” they agree and the man who answered the door follows the woman the other two dragging bodies toward the woods. Kyoshi pulls the sheet from the bed onto the ground picking up Mathew setting his body in it and wrapping it around him so Juniper wouldn't need to see him if she didn't want to. When she's done Kyoshi picks up the corpse and walks through the door and looks around to see a couple of marked graves revealed by the rising sun she walks over to it and sets the body down wondering if she should be this desensitized to corpses.

“Thank you for all you've done for ms Juniper maam, It means a lot.” she looks over to see him holding a couple of shovels. Kyoshi reaches out and takes one.

“You don't need to thank me for this,” Kyoshi says looking at the small graveyard.

“Where should we dig.” he taps a spot with the shovel.

“Right next to his mother, he said he wanted to be buried here when we where talking once.” Kyoshi nods and they start to dig.

Kyoshi hears footsteps as they stop turning to see juniper and the other two men approaching she takes the shovels and steps back letting them approach watching as the men put her husband into the grave and take the shovels as the wife says a few words about her husband and the seven before breaking down again and sobbing as her husband is laid to rest.

Kyoshi collects her bag passing back through the farm finding the wife waiting for her a bag by her feet.

“Are you sure you can't stay, I owe you my life.”

“I need to keep moving, my purpose is not here.” Kyoshi declines

“My.. my Mathew always talked about purpose, he said the farm was his. Please take this.” she lifts the bag and hands it to Kyoshi.

“It's some dried fruit and some wine for youre journey.” Kyoshi accepts the bag with a nod.

“Thank you, Ma'am.”

“No thank you Kyoshi” Kyoshi takes off again finding the man who helped her dig the grave waiting by the fence on the other end with a sword leaning against the fence by his feet.

“You should take this, youre strength isn't going to always save you.” he tosses Kyoshi the sword who catches it sighing as she sets her bags down before drawing the simple metal longsword with a worn handle.

“It's not castle forged steal but little get the job done.” he says as Kyoshi resheathes it strapping it around her waist.

“How old are you girl?”

“Somewhere around 17,” Kyoshi tells him and he sighs.

“Youre strong but no girl should be running around on her own, you got a family to go back to?”

“All dead,” she says picking her new bag up.

“Well I wish you the sevens blessing on your travels., he says to her waving as he heads back for the house Kyoshi steps back out onto the road continuing her journey.

As Kyoshi comes around an outcropping of trees in the distance the largest Castle she has ever seen comes into view, a massive city surrounding it. She makes the last of the journey quickly finding a line of people along the waterside waiting to pass through the Mudgate. Kyoshi tucks her coin purse inside her shirt along with her fans.

“The king approaches, hurry everyone through!” she hears a yell and suddenly the meandering line of carts and people is moving being inspected and forced through the gate as fast as the gold cloaks can manage, Kyoshi can hear people behind her being turned away as she reaches the gate.

“Name and buisness”

“Kyoshi, and work.” the man writes that down waving her through, and then Kyoshis inside the wall being buried along by gold cloaks as they prepare the street for the king, Kyoshi moves to one side wanting to see the procession.

She sees the first of the soldiers ride through followed by a fat man on a horse and Kyoshi can see from the way he's surrounded by guards in stark white armor she knows that he is the king, she stands from the crate she had sat on to wait to look over the townsfolk who had decided to crowd around her. The procession continues and she sees a royal cart, one of the most beautiful women she has seen looking out as it passes followed by another cart, this one less ornate but far more practical.

Kyoshi follows along with the carts feeling eyes on her as she does, she looks to see inquisitive gray eyes staring out at her ducking down when they meet Kyosh’s. She pushes her way through a crowd coming to a stop outside of the main gate to the castle, a set of steps being brought out to help the king off of his horse two wagons following after the ornate one getting stairs first the simple wagon's door is thrown open as a grey-haired girl jumps out running to a man on horseback who easily dismounts picking up what must be his daughter who exclaims excitedly.

“Dad she's bigger than Hodor!” pointing at Kyoshi and Kyoshi can feel see a number of eyes come to rest on her, kyoshi steps back into the crowd heading into an alleyway and beginning her search for a place to stay while in the city.
