Alone Together
Being with Denki was easy, that night, they shared their pasts with each other, to their surprise it is pretty similar experiences, almost identical, they were both hurt. They both had people hurt them, teachers, parents, people they thought were their friends, they protected were at one point lost in time. It was strikingly, similar, almost frightening so, how cruel people could be to someone that’s just a little different than they are. Why is that? Izuku doesn’t understand why people hurt others like that, is it a chemical imbalance? Or were they hurt, and just trying to feel stronger in some way? It’s an interesting theory really the human mind really is so complex.
That didn’t stop Izuku from thinking about how much he loved spending time with Denki. He’s so smart, Izuku didn’t talk to many people but the people he has hadn’t been able to keep up with his thought process. Not to mention he’s very pretty, and really really funny, and he just made things easy. Especially for a guy that just got the shit beat out of him a day ago. Izuku could see him self in Denki it’s not really as hard as you would imagine to, he gets the shit beat out of them all the time to. It’s different with Denki though, he talked to him for hours, not once did he tell Izuku to stop. You could see how he could lose himself around someone like Denki, he’s never really had a person of his own, not one that looks at him in this way, a hero. Izuku’s his hero, that amazes him.The same day he got his quirk from All Might, Izuku saved someone. Someone really pretty at that.
“Ah I forgot to ask, what’s your quirk if you don’t mind me asking, does it have to do with the lightning bolt in your hair?” Izuku asked Denki. It’s funny, usually that’d be one of the first questions he’d ask but he’d been a bit distracted last night catering to the yellow hired boys numerous wounds.
“No problem! It’s called Electrification, I can put out like 1 million volts of electricity!” Denki says proudly, puffing up his chest a little and smiling. “But, uh I kinda short circuit for a while after I use my quirk too much.” Deflating.
“WOW, really?” Izuku starts. “That’s such a cool quirk, that would be perfect for heroics! You’d be like a human stun gun! I bet we can work around you short circuiting, have you ever thought about keeping a big battery near you? To you know recharge? Or better yet to keep your charge going maybe? OH or if that doesn’t work maybe it’s just your brain takes too much of the electricity into it at one time maybe you need some thing to stop it from reaching your brain? Or it could be that your brain has two little electricity in it. We should run some tests.” He finish’s his rant looking up to find a a teary-eyed Denki.
“You really, think I can be a hero?” Denki starts, trying to blink back the tears, but they start to fall anyway. “You really think I can be a hero, even though my quirk hurts me? It hurts so much when I short circuit. Everyone just laughs, they all just say I’ll be deadweight in a fight.” He starts to look down balling up his fists. His wounds on his hands start to sting. Izuku reaches out and gently takes his hand, is Denki unclenches his fist. Looking up slowly dreading what he’s going to see, someone else is gonna laugh at him. He really really liked him, he hasn’t had this much fun with somebody in a long time. Doesn’t know if he can take it if his hero laughs at him to. Doesn’t know if he can take it if Izuku, the beautiful boy who reached out his had to him for the first time since he could remember tell him he can’t do it.
“You’ll be a great hero Denki, I know it. I’ll help you.” Izuku says to him earnestly, giving Denki a blinding smile. “We should try out the things I told you a little bit ago, I think we should start it with the battery because usually when things short circuit, they either have too much or two less electricity going through them.” Smiling at Denki again.
God he had to stop that, it’s bad for Denki’s heart.
“I’m gonna tell you something, since you told me all of your secrets and you can’t tell anybody, okay?” He asked Denki and he just nods really fast tears still running down his face. “ I was quirkless till yesterday.” As soon as he starts Denki’s eyes go wide, he knows what that means he’s seen it. Even if he has a quirk that puts him in an immense amount of pain, he’s seen what they do to the quirkless. “ two months ago I was in a villain attack. I almost died. All Might saved me. So I had to ask. ‘Can a quirkless kid become a hero?’, And he said ‘no’, although he did take it back later when I helped defeat, the slime guy, it was the same villain that almost killed me earlier.” Denki is on the edge of his seat with this, the number one hero he always says in interviews that anybody could be a hero, why not his hero? That made Denki’s heart rate go up, can we really trust the hero’s? “After I was already walking back home All Might found me again, and offered me his quirk.” Izuku explains. “Of course I said yes, offer the quirkless kid the one thing he wants more than anything? The one thing that would make me normal?” He grabs his chest letting out of breath he hadn’t realized you’ve been holding.
“I think you could have been a quirkless hero.” Denki says softly. “You were my hero, quirk not. Either way, I think you’ll make a great hero, you’re already doing a really good job at it.” Denki blushes hard after confessing that to Izuku. But it’s the truth, He looks at Izuku like he hung the stars, who know what would have happen to him if he hadn’t jumped the the rescue, no one else was going to save him. No one else has ever even tried.
“What if I didn’t want to be a hero anymore?” Izuku confesses so quietly Denki could almost not even hear the green haired boy whisper.. The hero’s had all fallen in Denki’s eyes compared to his hero, why should the title really even matter. All Might the number one hero, was a liar. Denki was almost certain Endeavor personality wasn’t just to keep the reporters away from him, he scared people. He only thought for a few seconds before he responded
“What would you want to be then?” Denki asks curiously, does he want to be a vigilante? Villain? Or maybe just something completely different. Whatever it may be, Denki’s all but decided to follow Izuku wherever it may be.
“I haven’t decided just yet.” Izuku tells him honestly, looking into his pretty yellow eyes. “When I do find out, you’ll be the first to know, I can promise you that.” Smiling softly at Denki, cupping one hand on Denki’s cheek looking into his eyes like he’s solidifying the promise. Brushing Denki’s hair softly away from his face, looking deeply into his eyes. Green and yellow really were made for each other after all. You can’t make one without the other. “I don’t know how I’ve lived without you” he confesses, staring into Denki’s eyes, he leans forward slowly, more than enough time for Denki to get away if this was something he didn’t want to happen. Leaning the rest of the way, brushing his lips softly against Denki’s. His lips are warm, keeping his right hand at Denki’s cheek, he takes his left and pulls his head closer, deepening the kiss just a little bit as soon as he feels a spark. It tingles on his lips. Loving the feeling of the slight electric feeling Denki’s quirk gives him.
Izuku pulls away as slowly as he had when he’d gone in for the kiss. Keeping eye contact to show that everything was okay. “That was amazing, I like the way your quirk feels.” Izuku told him honestly, touching his fingers to his lips. “It feel like the kind of first kiss you read about in story’s.” He tells Denki, bushed completely completely red now.
“I like that, it was, uh my first kiss too.” Denki tells his, almost buzzing still with the slight electrical effects of his quirk, he’s as red as Izuku knew he was. It was cute.
