Chapter Seven

Voldemort exhaled, dismissed his inept servant and contemplated the news he’d heard.

Muggles were at Hogwarts-Muggles who possessed strange creatures, very powerful creatures by the sounds of them.

Of course, Mister Potter possessed the same creature as well.

Voldemort leaned back, closing his eyes in thought, wondering if those creatures were of the same variety of the strange one he’d seen watching him. He knew that the creature was always there, watching and waiting and smiling. Voldemort also knew that the creature was so utterly similar to him that he knew it would wait until it was asked otherwise.

The creature smirked, tipped his hat and vanished into thin air.

“HARRY!” “TAI!”

Helping Harry dismount from Garurumon, the two athletes turned, catching their partners before finding themselves caught in a strong group hug, led by Nikole, who had tears streaming down her eyes. Harry balked, quickly reassuring her that they were fine.

“She’ll be expecting a visit during the summer holidays,”

Victor smirked, “Only you,” and ruffled the young Wizard’s hair.

A sound of heels approaching the group made them look up, finding McGonagall staring down at them, softly. Harry and Tai blushed, quickly moving to untangle themselves and get into their seats.  McGonagall smiled, “That was quite a show, you two. You’ve done Gryffindor proud, however please do try to keep such antics contained to the arena,”

Tai blushed, ducking his head, only to find his partner holding an assortment of foods ready for him. Thanking his partner, Tai quickly dig into his meal, glancing up to find that Elecmon had done the same for Harry.

Astamon smirked; he continued to watch the older male with a barely disguised interest. He had heard about the so called humans who had magic. He’d hoped to have to some access to one of them, especially when he found out that the child had been to the Digital World.

Of course the brat had a partner. It didn’t matter to Astamon-he’d already put everything in motion, starting with that GreatGreymon.

Soon enough, he’d have all of the ancient beings under his control and after he had the child, well, nothing would stop him. Not even the so called Knights of Azulongmon. He had waited far too long to sit around and let a human take what was his.

That pathetic Devimon hadn’t even come close to Astamon’s shoes, defeated by a flying pig turned Angel.

Neither had Myotismon or Piedmon or any of the other Dark Masters. It was altogether horribly pathetic-the strongest of the strong, all defeated by children.

“Ohh!”

Astamon’s gaze fell on a nearby bush, quickly leaping over and cutting down with his claws, only to reveal an empty plot of land. He smirked, it didn’t matter what had been there or who it worked for. Soon enough, both worlds would be his for the taking.

Pawnchessmon shook, panting as it had narrowly escaped its death by Astamon’s claws. Thankfully she’d been quick enough to dodge and now, she had at least some information for her Partner. She had to rush back and rely it to him.

The Digidestined needed to know!

Without hesitation, Pawnchessmon took off-she could pass out later on the couch after some food.

Dumbledore finally exhaled the breath he’d been holding in since dinner, all but collapsing into the chair. He’d had plans, backups, and escapes all ready at a moment’s notice. He had made sure of everything.

The Dursleys, of course, had ruined his carefully laid out plans. They’d gone to Japan-they’d left Harry at a camp and from there, all of his plans had been derailed.

Allowing his head to fall into his hands, the man swallowed hard, letting his thoughts swirl. There was no way to escape this madness. How could he have the perfect pawn when his pawn was so devoted to another cause entirely? He needed Harry to be fully and completely under the Light’s control. The boy must die alongside Voldemort in order to ensure neither came back.

“Dumbly-dores? Yous has mail,” the small house elf spoke timidly as she pointed to a small golden envelope. Dumbledore waved the elf away in thanks and pulled the envelope towards him, opening it with a flick of his wrist.

Scanning over the paper, he smiled; his heart easily calming down and finally relaxing. He was sure the next task would prove to be Potter’s undoing.

After all, he very well couldn’t save the one he cared about if he had no one to care about him? After all. A muggle’s affections could turn at the drop of a knut.

They only required a little push.

Albus was sure that it would not take much to convince Severus.

Hikari was never one to break the rules per-say; she left that part to her brother and Matt. On the rare occasion that she did, it was usually with good reason- which is why she found herself following a little Pawnchessmon through the hallways. She opted to let Gatomon sleep, knowing that her partner would not approve of her late night shenanigans.

She kept her distance, watching as the Digimon made various turns and twists, never taking the same hallway twice.

Someone must be following it, the child of Light deduced, maintaining her self imposed distance.

The little Pawnchessmon finally stopped at a door, nearly black with a serpentine design that was nearly imperceptible from the wood. Hikari’s eyes widened when the door swung open and the little Digimon stepped inside. She was about to retreat back to the tower when the smooth tenor of the famed Potions Master spoke.

“Come inside, Miss Kamiya, it would do no good to Gryffindor to lose house points because a student was out of bed now would it?”

“I don’t suppose the rules change from one Digidestined to another?”

“We shall see,”

Hikari made it inside just as the black wooden door shut with a soft click.
