Teenagers in a weird mv prison, crazy, I know.
Summary
The new prisoners of Milgram begin their trials. But some of them may or may not be familiar with the new Guard, a grey haired amnesiac by the name of Es.(Read the notes for more details, please. It's important.)
Note
Okay so, some things I'd like y'all to keep in mind:1. The Es here and the Es on Milgram are NOT the same, hence the different pronouns and descriptions. (It's a canon character, you can probably guess who it is but it's not Es.)2. Milgram and Project Sekai's universes are the same universe, this is in the future, when the canon Milgram has already ended.3. That being said, the characters here are not going to be exactly like their Milgram counterparts (ex: Mizuki is not going to be like Amane)4. The only two units that have not formed are MORE MORE JUMP! and Leo/need. VBS, WxS and N25 are formed already with their SEKAIs also existent.5. Ooc warning! (Update: 28/2/25) EXTREMELY FOR SOME CHARACTERS AND ESPECIALLY IN EARLY CHAPTERS. Later chapters have me trying to fix the ooc to the best of my abilities bare w/ me)

Chapter 21

Es wanted to sleep. More than anything.

Watching the cameras to keep tabs on the prisoners, the interrogations, having to get Jackalope shipped back from Brazil after throwing him through the prison's ceiling a bit too hard…

The whole thing with 005…

That rooftop, that Saki girl, Hatsune Miku too?

Es thought she clearly deserved that nap.

As the last prisoner walked in, she remembered how Mafuyu had basically popped up out of nowhere.

She had an eerie vibe to her, her dark purple eyes having no light in them.

Mafuyu was another prisoner that Es did not understand, mainly because of the lack of interaction, or the fact that her cell was the farthest from the camera system.

"Let's start."

As she looked at 010, she noticed her expression was completely different from the creepy one she'd seen before.

She was smiling, charismatic.

It was somehow emptier than before.

"Alright!"

Es really wanted to nap.

"You don't have to act. I've already seen how you are. It won't work."

"I… I see."

Mafuyu's smile faded into the normal poker face.

"What do you want to know? Who I killed?"

Ah…

Well that was really unexpected.

Es kind of expected her to be the type to not confess at all.

"I-- Go for it, you're making my job easier."

Es chuckled.

"My mother."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I killed my mother."

She said, deadpanned, as if that wasn't literally a confession of murder that would potentially affect her life.

"How can you say that so casually?! Do you not care for the life you took?"

Mafuyu stared into Es' eyes.

"I'm… Not sure…"

Mafuyu uttered, Es sighed.

"Alright let's see. Why'd you do it?"

"I…"

Es interrupted her.

"Not sure? Fine.

How's life here?"

Mafuyu thought for a moment.

"I think… It's okay."

Es nodded.

"You're quite fond of 008 aren't you? They're the one I've seen you interact with the most."

Mafuyu's eyes widened just a little.

"We're groupmates."

Groupmates? Not friends?

Of course, Es did not say that.

"...Warden?"

"Yes?"

Mafuyu walked up to her.

"Why did you leave that synth there…?"

Huh?

Es had given a synthesizer to Mizuki, at the latter's request, not thinking much of it.

So what was--

Oh.

Oh.

Oh…

Es connected the dots.

"That… that's classified."

Mafuyu looked visibly confused as Es smirked slightly.

"Back to your mother though."

"Do you regret murdering her?"

Mafuyu grasped her chest tightly.

"...I do not."

Es' eyes widened, the bell blaring in their ears as Mafuyu was unfazed by it.

"I… Okay.

One last time."

She whispered to herself.

"Prisoner 010, Mafuyu.

Come now, sing your sin!!"
