Chapter 17,5
Akito's eyes widened as the prison's walls were destroyed and sunlight shined from the outside world.
Toya walked in from the dust, a look of relief on his face as he ran towards Akito.
"Akito!"
Toya reached out to him, extending his hand for Akito to grab.
But as he did, everything faded as he slowly opened his eyes.
Toya wasn't anywhere to be seen. He was still locked inside his cell, and the floor was cold.
He was going to rot there.
"Shinonome… Es said we could ask for stuff like food or something like that."
Honami said at the other side of his cell.
"Why are you telling me this."
He asked, staring mindlessly at the floor.
Honami hesitated.
"...You seem tired, Shinonome, I can ask her for what you want…"
She replied, looking at him with concern.
Akito didn't understand her. They didn't know each other. She had no reason to tell him that.
He wondered, why wasn't An doing this for him? Why was someone he'd never met before there instead of his friends.
Why couldn't it be Toya asking him what he wants in a moment like this. Why couldn't he be here with him in a place like this?
It was probably not even real, who knew if he was dreaming all of this? He was tired, hungry.
Honami had left by the time he turned around.
An was getting ready for her last game of UNO before her interrogation.
She was nervous about it, yes, but somehow the fact that she wasn't alone in this made it better.
She missed Kohane, yes, but at least Akito and Mizuki were there with her.
Well… Akito was a bit down at the time. She hadn't talked to him in a couple days.
She continued to shuffle cards, half out of boredom and half out of anxiety.
Everyone would've done the same in her place, right?
She looked down at the cards, sighing as someone approached her cell.
"Akito's… Favorite food?"
Honami stood before her, she had asked her about Akito, even though they barely knew each other.
"Well… He likes pancakes, why though--?"
Honami ran away before she could finish asking.
"Thanks Ms. Shiraishi!"
"You want pancakes? Sure, I can get that for you."
Es grabbed a notebook, writing something on it.
"Thanks, Es…"
Honami was quite nervous about the outcome of her giving Akito pancakes, in reality, she didn't know why she was doing this.
"You look nervous, 007."
Es said, putting the notebook down.
"I-I do? Oh… I didn't realize that…"
"Is everything ok?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm okay… Don't worry about it, Es."
Honami said, slowly walking to her cell.
It was raining, Akito's steps were slow, everything hurt as he saw his house in the distance.
As he approached it, the sun cleared up as Ena opened the door and Fuuta came along behind her to pull him into a family hug.
Akito opened his eyes, much to his dismay.
Tears ran through his face, him not noticing at first.
Akito got up, sighing.
It seemed the floor got colder every time he laid down.
When his vision was clearer after the tears dried, he could see a plate of…
Pancakes?
"What on Earth…?"
Was he dreaming again?
He softly slapped his face multiple times.
It felt real enough.
He slowly opened his cell to bring the platter inside of it.
It smelled nice.
