Chapter 16
Mizuki knew they were next. They knew that they'd be basically confessing to murder in just a bit.
They knew they'd lied to Mafuyu. It didn't feel good, of course, but they couldn't bring themself to tell her then.
And speaking of, Mafuyu showed up at their cell.
"Mizuki… You're next, right…?"
She asked Mizuki, locking eyes with her.
"Yeah… Hey… Mafuyu?"
Mizuki stood up, Mafuyu tilting her head slightly.
They pulled her into a hug.
"I'm... I'm really glad we're here together."
Mizuki heard Mafuyu make a little sound of surprise, the latter silently accepting the hug.
"I… Guess I am too, Mizuki."
Mizuki smiled, noticing how both of Mafuyu's hands were pretty close together.
Looking closely, they noticed they were tied.
"Ah! Mafuyu, doesn't that hurt? Let me see if I can cut that belt for you…"
They said, looking for something sharp enough but not finding anything around their cell except for the Miku UNO cards.
Except for the Miku UNO cards!
They grabbed one of the cards, Mafuyu looking slightly confused as Mizuki put their hand on her wrist softly, slowly but surely cutting the tight belt that was once around her hands.
"Better?"
They put the card down, Mafuyu looking at her hands.
"...I think so."
Mizuki looked to the side, unsure if they should tell her now.
Mafuyu noticed.
"Mizuki…?"
Mizuki made eye contact with her.
"Mafuyu… I lied. I lied to you back when we woke up."
Mafuyu didn't say anything, she just looked at them as they continued.
"I was nervous, thinking I was the only one that could've actually murdered someone. I thought my own friends weren't capable of such things, but…
It seems I was wrong."
The Warden's voice blared through the same speakers as always, as Mizuki looked in its direction and back at Mafuyu.
"I can't say I'm ready to tell you yet. But when I am, but if you're still by my side when I am, I promise you'll know."
Mafuyu never stopped looking at Mizuki's pink eyes, their words making it sound like maybe their crime wasn't the only thing to hide.
Yet no words were found out of Mafuyu's mouth, who watched as Mizuki ran through the door.
