chop shop and selling forged documents
Phone call
“Who is this and how did you get this number?”
“Hi, you can call me Cardnial and my friend is Cat.”
“Hello.”
“We’re with the Plant coven, friends of Otter. We also drive the abomi-car in streat races and were looking for a place to get some off the book parts to use.”
“Unfortuntly, the police just did a joint raid on multiple chop shops. Several got out, but they don’t have anywhere to work and very limited stock. If you give me a list of what you need I might be able of getting you some, but it will be costly and take a while.”
“Wait. Are you saying that there is a large number of mechanic that need a place to work?”
“Um, yes?”
“Well then I have great news. Darius is our front man that focuses in legitamite businesses. He recently baught a garage that has been closed for several years due to the last owners going bankrupt. We were planning to use it as a base for a special project of ours. Think you can pass along word to have a few of those straglers take a look at it?
“Huh, that is actualy a lucky break. I can’t answer for them, but I don’t think they will mind. Let me get back to you later.”
They then exchanged phone numbers before hanging up.
At the Shack
“Hay Gus?”
Gus looked up from the human history book he was reading. “Yes Hunter?”
“Remember that garage you bought?”
“Oh Yeah. Luz and Willow said they needed a place for their special project. I think Willow is actualy over there right now setting up the plants in the back and digging a basement for the equipment.”
Hunter just looked confused at Gus. “Why aren’t they just putting the equipment in the building itself?”
“To prevent anyone that goes into it from seeing it. Also, they don’t trust the building to not collapse, it is old and hasn’t been maintained in a while.”
Amity and Hunter just nodded at that. “Well you will have to call them. I got a potential client that would be willing to set up shop in it as a actual garage.”
Gus dropped his book in surprise. “REALLY! Who is it?”
“The chop shop people we were talking with said they were badly hit by the police and needed to move. Your garage sounds like a good place, and you can use your illusions to keep the cops off their backs.”
Gus looked horrified. “YOU WANT ME TO COVER UP PEOPLE BEING CHOPED INTO PIECES?”
Hunter and Amity just backed up in shock before Amity recovered and began shaking her head repeditly. “NoNoNo, that is not even close to what they do. They are just a place where people that steel cars bring them to be disassembled, or chopped up, and then have the parts sold. It’s easier to do that then to try and sell the full car, and harder to prove that it was stolen in the first place.”
Hunter froze as the wind fell out of his sails before collapsing again. “Oh, sorry about that. Yeah, I am ok with them setting up shop.” He then looked up at them. “How soon are they moving in? That place is a mess and it will take a while to get it habital.”
Amity just shrugged. “The boss just said that he would call us when he talked with the chop shop people. As soon as we talk with them, we will pass along when they are coming to see the place. Speaking of which, I need to go there and get my Abominations to work fixing it up so it is safe to use.”
Gus stood up and grabed his staff while Hunter followed. “We sould go too. Want one of us to get Vee and Luz?”
Hunter just shook his head. “No, she and Camilla are going to have dinner with Masha’s parents together. I think Luz wanted to talk with Masha about shovels for some reason?”
Amity just rolled her eyes. “A ‘shovle talk’ is a talk that you give the person dating someone you care about to let them know that they should treat them right ‘or else.’”
Gus just stoped before he stated to giggle. “Are you trying to tell me that LUZ is going to threaten someone?”
Hunter also froze, but his was shivering in fear instead of giggling like Gus.
Flashback
“Luz, Why are you holding that bat?”
“Simple, you are dating Willow. I just wanted to make sure that you understood a few thing about how you treat her.”
“And that requires you to kidnap me in my sleep and tie me to this chair?”
“All the better to show you what I am capable of when I put my mind to it. Now, did you know that Eda taught me how to clean up after a murder and to hide bodies?”
Present
“Believe me Gus, she can be terefying when she want to be.”
Gus just rolled his eyes before mounting his staff and taking off after Amity, Hunter following them shortly afterwords.
Garage
Amity directed three abominations mainly made of mud with tiny bits of purple around the heads to do some basic construction work on the old building. Willow was having her vines remove all the pests and debre from inside as well as shore up the supports. Hunter was doing some basic repairs on the roof and Gus was keeping a illusion up to make sure that noteces what was happening while painting the signs.
“Hay Amity, do you think you can do the electrical work?”
“Yeah, I finaly got the Abomi-generator up and running to power the house. I was already planning to getting a second one to power the shack, but having it power here would work just as well.”
RING RING RING
“Who’s phone is that?”
Hunter then looked down and saw it was his burner that was used to call the boss earlier.
“It’s me, the boss is calling.”
Everyone then paused what they were doing and Hunter picked up. “Hello?”
“Cardnal? It’s me.”
“I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to hear from you so soon.”
“My organization uses chop shops enough that getting replacments up and running as soon as possible is a priority. I have here with me right now.”
…
“Hello, you can call me Alicia. When can I come over and inspeact the garage?”
“We are currently renovating it right now and should be done in about…”
He looked up at the others, and Amity raised 7 fingers while mouthing ‘one week.’
“One week. You can come by tomorrow for a quick look at the location and the unfinished version though.”
“I already saw it’s location on a map and it appears good. I’ll give you a week before coming over to see. Also, the boss said you were looking for car part?”
“Yeah, let me pass you over to my mechanic for that conversation.”
HE then handed the phone over to Amity, who then told her abominations to hold position while she talked on the phone. The rest got back to work while Amity and Alicia talked shop for 30 minites. She then hung up and went back to the group.
“Good news, they have about half the part we were looking for. Bad news, it will take a while to get them all together and to us. She said she will bring them with her next week to sell during talks about the garage.”
Hunter smiled. “That’s great! Maybe we can swing having the cost of the parts being taken out of the first months rent.”
Willow put a hand on his sholder. “Hold on there Hunter, lets not put the ratworm before the cart. Lets get this place looking good for her for now.”
He nodded and then they all got back to work.
1 Week later
Alicia and her crew showed up to the garage. It looked like a simple one story building with a fress coat of white paint and a sign proudly proclaiming it to be ‘Otherworldly Repairs.’ The front-right side had a office and waiting area, while the rest of the building was a garage big enough to hold 6 cars side by side. It was surrounded by a small parking lot immdeitly around the building before turning into a gravel one with enough room to hold about 20 cars around it between them. Adrian was standing out front holding a large clasp envelope.
“Welcome Alicia to ‘Otherworldly Repairs.’ We just finished up yesterday, so your timing coulden’t be better.”
She shook his hand and looked at it from the outside.
“Nice amount of room inside to work without anyone noticing, and a good sized parking lot for storage. A little close to town, but not close enough to be constently worried about people noticing us.
She then turned to Adrian “How much is the rent?”
Adrian then handed over the envelope he was holding to her.
“The rent is in here, along with all the documents you need to prove this is a legitamite business. Any car parts you supply to the Abomi-car will be subtracted from your monthly rent instead of them directly paying you, should make it easier to cover our tracks that way. I will send you the rent invoice at the start of every month. Any questions?”
Jack was bussy reading the documents handed to her and was quiet for a bit before looking up. “Who did you hire to forge these?”
“My usual person. Why, do you want something forged?”
She nodded her head. “Yeah, a few things. There are several papers involved with steeling and reselling cars that you need a forger for. If they can make the same ones of this quality, I would be willing to pay.”
Adrian rubbed his chin. “Do you have any samples and price ranges I could give her?”
Jack went to her car and returned with a folder with a few papers in it and then wrote down some figures on it. “Here you go. We can negotiate more later, but this is good for now.”
Adrian then took it. “Ok, I’ll hand it off to her. She can also do birth certificates, social security cards, passports, and a other similer documents if you know anyone else interested.”
She nodded at that. “Let me know when she is ready to talk and I can hash it out with her.”
The Shack
Gus burst into the building. “They want to use it!”
The others inside the shack cheared at Gus’s statement. He then turned to Amity. “And they said they would be willing to pay you to forge some documents for them.”
That made her perk up some more. “How many and how much?”
He handed over the folder given to him. “It’s all in here. We might need to talk with that lady that helped up set ours up, but it looks doable.”
After looking though it for a bit, she nodded. “Ok, I can probaly have the hard copies whipped up by tomorrow. We can charge the digital stuff extra.”
Luz just rolled her eyes. “So we now added two more illegal businesses that we need to launder money for.”
“Hay, the garage is a ligitmate business that just also happens to also do some illegal business that can easily be recorded as ligitate with some creative accounting. As for charging them for the documents, just include it in the rent charge and make up a reason for the books. If they point us to other customers, then we can worry about how to launder it.”
Luz just nodded before giggling. “If only Eda could see me now.”
