Chapter 1
Enid Sinclair was terrified.
She had never been so scared in her life. Not even when she battled the Hyde. Because at least the Hyde was 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 to be a monster.
Her own mother was not.
A mother should be loving, affectionate, give their daughter a hug when they're having a mental breakdown rather than a slap in the face. 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘩...
That had happened.
Enid was always aware her mother was abusive. Like, textbook abusive; but she had never 𝘩𝘪𝘵 her before. Tore down at her appearance, personality and interests until all Enid wanted to do was 𝘥𝘪𝘦, yeah, bur she'd never...she'd never 𝘩𝘪𝘵 her.
Until today.
It was a full moon, so Enid was emotional enough. She never did too well on the build-up to the full moon, it just reminded her of the dark days when she couldn't transform. But after today, she reckons she'd have been better off never transforming at all.
Because Enid Sinclair was a fucking alpha.
Which sounds all well and good in theory, but it wasn't. It was a 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦. You see, the San Francisco pack already had an alpha. Her grandfather, Zachariah Sinclair. He'd been the alpha for over fifty years now, there wasn't 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 to be another alpha born until he was long gong. Enid was a 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦. Once again an outcast in her own family.
She had no place. There was only one alpha, and that wasn't her. So, she'd been banished. Her worst fear was true. She was a lone wolf.
Obviously, she was upset. Enid thought this was an understandable reaction, but apparently not. Because when Esther Sinclair came into her daughter's room while she violently sobbed, the woman went 𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵.
Grabbed Enid by her hair, smacked her clean in her face, started screaming about how she'd embarrased her in front of everyone and how she'd never forgive her for this, and how she'd been happier if she'd just never wolfed out.
And Enid?
Enid just 𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥.
Enid Sinclair was the least aggressive person on planet Earth, she'd cry whenever she killed a bug for God's sake. But Esther Sinclair made her see red. Nothing she ever did was 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 for the woman, Enid herself just wasn't 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 for her. Her face, her body, her personality, everything about her just wasn't 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥. 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩.
Well, anyways, by the time her dad and her brothers came running in to see what the hell was going on, Esther Sinclair was half dead. Gashes all over her face from Enid's claws, bits of ripped out hair all over the floor, a few teeth missing; Esther Sinclair was lucky she was still breathing.
Half an hour later, Enid was out on the road at 1am with a small duffel bag full of neccesities.
She had nowhere to go, so she just let her brain lead the way.
Which is how Enid Sinclair ended up at her girlfriend's, Wednesday Addams, mansion at 7am, bloodied and bruised from the fight with her mother.
☟︎︎︎
Wednesday Addams was a very well-known insomniac. Her brain was on a 24/7 treadmill so it was incredibly difficult for the girl to sleep. She didn't mind, though, because while she was awake everyone else was asleep. Just how she liked it.
It was around 7am when Wednesday's body had finally given in and she went to lay down to sleep. But before she could even get into her bed, she heard the phone Xavier gifted her vibrate from the desk. She tilted her head slightly. The only numbers she had were Xavier's and Enid's, and neither of them would be calling. Xavier knew not to call Wednesday becauss she'd simply just decline, and Enid would most definitely be asleep at this time.
The goth walked over to her desk to see who was calling, and her eyebrows raised ever so slightly when she saw Enid's contact name.
"𝘔𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘭𝘧 <33" 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨...
Wednesday did not choose that contact name. Enid had put it in the second she realised Wednesday had a phone. She just never got round to changing it...or the wallpaper of her and Enid cuddling.
She immediately answered, bringing the phone to her ear. "Enid?"
"𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦..." she croaked out. Wednesday's chest instantly got heavy with panic. Enid sounded exhausted. "𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳. 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦. 𝘐-𝘐'𝘮 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳."
Wednesday was already rushing to the stairs. "I'm coming now." she uttered, hanging up the phone. If Wednesday ran down those stairs any faster, there was a good chance she'd have fallen and broken her neck. Happened to Pugsley once, was very entertaining.
She was at the door in under a minute. The psychic opened it to see an incredibly roughed up Enid Sinclair. She had blood all in her hair, staining it red, with a black eye forming and a cut right above the scar on her forehead.
"Fight with my mom..." she whispered. "Sorry. So sorry. Know it's early..."
The taller girl's body was limp and she looked as though she was going to collapse at any second. She fell into Wednesday, who quickly caught her in her arms, taking a few steps back so Enid would actually be in the house and not outside in the freezing cold.
"Enid, 𝘪𝘭 𝘮𝘪𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘦, what happened?" she asked, running her fingers through her tangled hair.
Enid sniffed and took a seat on the stairs, Wednesday following short. The blonde looked over at her girlfriend and sighed slightly, placing her head on her shoulder and her arm around her waist. "Turns out I'm an alpha. Only meant to be one alpha in a pack. I get banished, I cry, mom goes apeshit, mom slaps me, I snap and next thing y'know, moms half dead and I'm kicked out."
Wednesday looked over at her girlfriend with soft eyes. "I'm glad you had the thought to come here."
Enid started crying, burying her head further into Wednesday's shoulder. "I'm a lone wolf and fuckin' homeless," she sobbed. "I-I don't know what to do, Wens. I feel fuckin' hopeless."
"Don't be ridiculous," Wednesday shook her head with furrowed eyebrows. "You can stay here as long as you need, okay, 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘢? Forever, if you have to."
Enid sat up and looked at her girlfriend with a matching expression. "I can't just invade your house, Wens."
"Stop." Wednesday deadpanned. "Stop being stupid. My family loves you, it's honestly no big deal."
The two just stared at each other, arguing in their heads, before Enid let out another sigh and put her head back on Wednesday's shoulder. "Okay." she breathed out.
"Okay?"
"Okay."
